Great smart features with built in services such as Apple TV App, YouTube, HBO max, Netflix and others. If you want better picture I would recommend an OLED display however this is a good price point for an LED with the included features and brand.

Great price for a 4k ultra hd 120hz refresh rate

For $649 it's a great deal. The 120hz refresh rate TV's are expensive. The larger tv sizes are very expensive so this size will work for my daughter's room and her new Xbox series X.

Enemies at a distance use to look like stick figures now they have shape. Compared to my 7 year old lg this is a great picture with lots more detail when gaming.

I like the Google TV interface in on this model better than the WebOS on LG. Beware, I bought this because of the 120Hz and have it connected to my computer; Nvidia drivers have issues with this model. I had to downgrade the Nvidia driver for it to work.

Excellent 43 inch.

Probably the best 43" out there in this price range ($600-700). This is a midrange TV so don't expect great HDR implementation but HDR does add some decent highlight details to movies and shows. Dolby Vision support is a plus of course, but again, this can't compete with high-end TVs with better peak brightness. I do not game on it but it has everything you'd want in a gaming TV sans great HDR. Has all the important features you'd care about. Google TV is mostly very good. Seems the 43" is a VA panel in case anyone is wondering if it's IPS. Does lose some color/contrast at an angle but not a big deal for me. VA panel is much appreciated. 4.5 Stars rounded up to 5.

Horrible Motion - Not for Current Gen Gaming

I'm an undergraduate engineer who takes an incredible amount of time on research before pulling the trigger on purchases. I notice fine details especially when focused during something like gaming. I watch Rtings, Digital Trends, and all the major tv reviewers. I come from a Samsung JJ5500 had it for maybe 5 years. Which I bought it primarily for gaming and Netflix (I’m simple). Don't love Samsung as a brand or anything but the motion (In game mode) for solid for the time of purchase. Now you have the backstory so I should have had an upgrade on every level getting this tv which wasn't cheap. Sadly, the most important thing for me, motion, was lackluster. In fact, it was extremely bad (in game mode). Without getting into the nitty gritty, stutter and judder handling is noticeable when enabled. But the fundamental problem with this is GAME MODE offers better input lag but horrible stuttering and judder when enabled. Other tv modes introduce a noticeable input lag which shouldn't be something I use paying $800 bucks for a tv. This is not a tv for current gen consoles. I played Series X, PS5, and even lower res Nintendo switch. I mean even my Netflix experience (from an external source) was horrible with motion. I even noticed some ghosting in play games in 120 HZ. I already gave up missing VRR on this tv and I heard myself starting to make up excuses for Sony. Moving to other aspects was the panel quality. To put it simply it’s not as great as previous models. And I did notice in real world content (not the cherry-picked demo shown in store) that there is lots of dirty screen effect as well as clouding. There were good aspects when it came to playing lower res content it looked great. Color banding however was noticeable which didn't make sense to me being that this tv supports such a high color gamut. As for HDR....LACKLUSTER. I feel lied to from reviewers there not enough separation or perceived contrast. I learned that brightness means nothing without diming zones. HDR content felt like the TV was too dim or way to bright and washed out. Keep in mind yes, I may be picking this tv apart, but I did spend almost $1000 dollars. This purchase didn’t make me feel like I made the right choice. Especially when you stack in against the competition. Now ideally if this was the only tv I owned I’d have to just suck it up and deal with it. But I don’t think making excuses for a big purchase makes it a good one. I really wanted to love this tv. Long story short if you're simple like me and do the same thing with your tv day in and day out. This TV is no better than my Samsung JJ5500 from years ago and its main use cases in my book I'd consider this tv worse. Overall, I gave 2 stars because the menu system was pretty good, features made a difference when toggled, but for the money, the name brand, and a value standpoint this isn't worth the money. Thought I’d save a dollar going with this model. Spend the extra to grab the model that is a bit of a stretch to your pockets. AND PICK THAT THING APART. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR SOMETHING YOU SPEND HARD EARNED DOLLARS ON. Thanks for listening... still own Sony products but this model didn't remind me why. As for Sony, you guys must do better. I went from buying your brand blindly trusting your quality to feeling like an idiot having to walk your box back to Best Buy. What happened?

The motion enhancer of this TV is Motionflow™ XR 960 (Native 120 Hz), Auto mode. The Motionflow™ XR has innovative technology that creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. Some models also include black-frame insertion for a blur-free and truly cinematic look. With an Object-based HDR remaster, the color in individual objects on-screen is analyzed and the contrast adjusted, unlike most TVs where contrast is only adjusted along one black-to-white contrast curve. Because objects are remastered individually, this TV can reproduce greater depth, textures, and more realistic pictures. Images filmed in 2K and even Full HD are upscaled close to 4K resolution by 4K X-Reality™ PRO using a unique 4K database.
The X85J supports the features specified in HDMI 2.1 standard like 4K120, eARC/ARC, ALLM, and VRR(VRR will be available via a future firmware update). The Motion Enhancer of the TV is Motionflow™ XR 960 (Native 120 Hz), Auto mode.
To support a 4K 120Hz signal from another device, you will need to set the TV HDMI Signal Format to an Enhanced format for your source device to recognize the 4K 120Hz capability of the TV. Make sure your device is connected to the HDMI 3 or HDMI 4 input on the TV using the supplied Certified Premium HDMI cable.
Select Settings → Watching TV → External inputs → HDMI signal format.
Select the input the device is connected to (either HDMI 3 or HDMI 4), and then change the setting to Enhanced format.

Excellent but not actually Alexa compatible

The only problem is that it doesn’t work with Alexa despite the advertised capability. The Alexa Sony skill is useless and neither Amazon or Sony seem to be willing to fix the problem.
