TV will not turn back on again

I have owned the Sony K-50S30 for about 2 months now. The TV was easy enough to set up and the picture quality is good. But if you have an app on and the TV turns off automatically while the app is open the TV will not turn back on again from neither the remote or the button at the bottom under screen. The TV must be unplugged and plugged back in to turn it back on again. I called customer support about this and their fix is to turn off the auto shut off so the TV does not shut off automatically which I felt was a non fix. Also the rep tried to do a remote access to my TV but this unit is not capable of that. The remote does not have buttons so if you were to hook up an antenna you must either go to the menu and go to the "numbers" to scroll through the numbers and push the enter button for each number and decimal or you can speak into the remote when the mic button is push to change the channel, ex "channel 10.1". Then the TV will change to that channel.

Set up took awhile as the eARC for an AV receiver must be in input 3. Not sure but this then triggered a large firmware update on my Yahama receiver as I was not getting any sound. The TV also had a large update once first powered up. All was good for several hours then the picture quality went to an impressionist painting style. Tried many things but it was the TV. A call to geek squad solved this with instructions for a hard reboot aka pull the plug, wait, and plug back in. Problem solved. Picture and sound setup much easier with less options than the Samsung it replaced. On screen navigation once learned is OK but could use some intuitive help. If you have an AV reciver, check your eARC and 4K upscale settings for best experience. There is a long delay for the TV to turn on the AV receiver, then my Yahama receiver also has a time delay before pumping sound. Get use to it and it is no big deal. I have both Samsungs and Sonys. Just pick the best bang for your buck. At the required 50-inch size needed to fit my wall unit, Best Buy had one of each in my price range. The ones at the club stores are stripped down cheaper versions which might be OK for guest bedrooms, not for main living rooms. Sound is thru my AV receiver but I guess the speakers are OK. There is a speaker setting for if table or wall mounted.

The quality is superb especially when watching movies. I don’t like the stand because I feel they are little flimsy. Sound quality is great because I placed it on table with about a feet distance from the wall. I don’t like to mount it on the wall. Overall the picture quality is great but price-wise it is supposed to be 100 dollars less.

Thank you for your positive feedback on the quality of the BRAVIA 3, DrAli0000, especially when watching movies. Your observation about the sound quality being great when placed on a table with about a foot of distance from the wall is noted.

Regarding the stand, your comment about it feeling a bit flimsy is valuable feedback. The K-50S30 is part of our BRAVIA line, which features the 4K HDR Processor X1™, providing superb 4K Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities. While the TV is designed with various features to enhance your viewing experience, we take your concerns about the stand into account and appreciate your preference not to mount it on the wall.

If you have further comments or need assistance, please let us know.

Overall, great TV! Was very surprised at the clarity and the overall “Cinematic “ experience was exceptional! The sound quality was great, I just wish there was a way to make it more even and less cinematic at times; but, I’m okay with it regardless. i hooked my sound bar up. Great buy.

The Best Buy sales person was extremely helpful. It’s a great place to compare and purchase products- especially TVs. We bought a Sony because it was replacing a Sony tv and our universal remote was already set up for Sony in a limited use situation. The tv’s picture is good, but it’s expensive for A 50” LED. Also, it uses an android operating system which is slow and annoying. We set it up so goes directly to our Roku stick and therefore we avoid the android system annoyance. In all, it serves our purposes (not our main tv) but I would recommend Samsung or LG over Sony TVs.

Didn't have a lot of selection in the 50 inch class -- only 2 TVs, Samsung and Sony. The salesperson in Beavercreek was quite knowledgeable about the differences and going with the Sony was a clear choice. Only one in stock was in Springfield (~20 miles) and the salesperson facilitated the sale and arranged for pickup in Springfield. The produce, so far, after 2 weeks, has been excellent. Set up took some time, but was not too complicated. Very clear picture and ease of operation.

Well it's a Sony so it was expected that it would be good. In this particular case it's for our RV and 50inch meant that this was the only model we could get so it's not on the bleeding edge of technology but it's 4k and the picture quality is extremely good. The color balance and brightness are excellent and sound a huge step up from the previous Samsung. The user interface for the smart TV functions is excellent and connecting to wifi and Bluetooth works great. Could not be any happier for the price it's a huge upgrade.

Wow, Sony never disappoints. I replaced my 10+ yo Plasma TV as the picture was fading in my very sunlit living room. The picture and sound are incredible. I bought the 50", it fits the room I have a condo. I used to have to close my blinds to watch the plasma tv but not with this one. It is bright and the quality is fantastic. The setup can be a little tricky if you're easily frustrated by that, just have Best Buy do the setup if you're not computer savvy, it will be worth it. I'm over 60 so once I realized the remote didn't have batteries installed it wasn't too bad but I like these kinds of challenges.

The tv has an excellent picture and good enough sound for regular tv viewing. The setup was a bit confusing. The remote takes some time to get used to because there are no numbers on it. I found I can use a sony remote from an older tv that has all the numbers on that makes changing channels easier. I have one wish that sony would have left a 3.5 mm plug for some of my older stereo equipment. I have a klipsh 2.1 system for my computer that I previously hooked up to my older sony tv. I would say it would be best for a movie experience to hook it up to a sound system. I have bought 7 Sony TVs since 1995 and have never had a quality issue with any of them. Its a bit more money but the sony quality is worth it
