Great Picture and quality...terrible HDMI issues

There are several selections available to get the picture crystal clear 4k which can make the picture appear lifelike to just that perfect movie grain look. Updates require...well just connect to wifi to download. My problem...HDMI has severe issues with thus TV. I bought this TV to replace a still working 2008 KDL 42 inch. That tv was flawless with HDMI set up. It also had a great soundbar built in. Since these new tvs have terrible speakers i bought a sound bar. My set up: Direct Tv port 1, Xbox one x port 2, Soundbar Port3 arc, Roku port4. Everytime...the sound bar plugged into port 3 shows on port 1. The xbox never shows logged into the tv as a registered HDMI unit nor does Ditect TV. The end result...the soundbar drops HDMI sound every day. I have to reset the tv daily. Ive called Sony several times and get the terrible out of the country support that reads from the same manual that ive read that does not help. Ive pulled out the sound bar...the Tv shows on port 1. Plug the sound bar back in and it shows on port 1 and 3. Its a nightmare. The manual mentions HDMI crossbraiding issues if too many HDMI units are plugged in but i only have 4. Ill give 3 stars for the picture but wish i could give zero stars for these HDMI issues. It shouldnt be complicated. It should be plug and play. Its a shame...my old sony was great youd figure they'd do better as time goes on...guess i was wrong.

I got this 50” Sony Bravia XR X90J (the cheaper 2021 model) because after downloading an initial system software update, it had all the same features as their newer model that is specifically marketed as being designed for use with the PlayStation 5. All I can say is “WOW!”. It has the absolute best picture of any television that I have ever used or owned in my lifetime (I currently also have a brand new 4k Samsung TV that I just purchased for my father, and a 3 year-old 4k LG TV which was my previous gaming TV). The maximum screen refresh rate is 120hz (frames per second), which is great for low lag gaming, and the software update added a VRR (variable refresh rate) mode, which helps to get rid of screen tearing and stuttering framerates. This high frame rate VRR mode makes gaming incredibly smooth and gorgeous. Plus, just watching broadcast TV or viewing an App such as Netflix/Disney/Amazon Prime Video is a visual pleasure due to the the bright and colorful 4k full-array backlit LED screen, and the automated video setting, which switches to the best video mode for your currently used App or video source. It has an iMAX video mode, along with the stunning DolbyVision mode (only for Apps), plus a Dolby Pro audio mode for great surround-sound audio. Even though this Sony TV might cost more than other similarly featured televisions from other companies, the shear quality of the picture should put it on the wishlist of anyone who loves to watch TV/movies/sports, and/or is a video gaming enthusiast. I fully recommend this television!!!

At first I had purchased the X85J model but I returned that model and bought the X90J and Im so glad I did. What I didn’t know about this model is that it included Bravia core which is a great feature that allow me to view some movies in Imax but the movies has to be included within the Bravia core app. Overall the tv has a excellent picture quality and the functions are rather simple to operate so Im giving this one 5 stars.

The picture/colors are brilliant and clear. I also love the user interface and also how truly smart this TV is - it automatically detected the DirecTV and Set up the TV remote to work with the DirecTV box!!! And no more ROKU!! Yay! The Apps feature let you add any streaming channels via internet connection (hard wire or WI-FI) and it’s great to have some dedicated buttons on the remote to go directly to some of the favorites like Netflix. It’s also lightweight (easier to hang on the wall) and has a slim profile. When setting it up, I do not recommend allowing Google to track what you watch (in order to provide you with recommendations in the future), nor to allow Google to find other devices on your network. I opted in on this when I set it up originally and right after I found that all my devices started performing very sluggishly. I disabled the sharing info and also the “find other devices on your network” functions and ther performance is better now on my other devices. You will be very happy with this TV!!

The local dimming helps out with the dark scenes but there is still backlight bleed. Never had an issue with the UI, Sony software seems solid

Practically perfect in every way

Google tv is also the ultimate smart TV interface, I love how it pulls in recommendations from multiple streaming services and has a universal watch list. Paired with YouTube tv, it's literally the perfect cord cutters tv. Only concern is the big ugly remote, I wish it had a slimmer streamlined remote.

Excellent 50" LED TV

Color is good and viewing excellent even in the daytime in a room with a skylight (important for watching live sports). It works well with newest Apple TV + original HomePod for audio. I am dinging one star because of the stand, which allows the TV to move a bit back and forth if pushed. Without pets or young children around to give it a push, it is probably just fine. But my previous 40" Samsung TV was rock solid on its stand. Also, despite reviews which praised the TV speakers, I find them disappointing; though it does not really matter since I am happy with Homepod as external speaker.

I have an LG in the living room, a Samsung in the mancave and my other Samsung in the bedroom bit the dust. This Sony TV far exceeded my expectations. It is my first full array TV and after exhausting searching of reviews I decided to give it a try. Right out of the box it was just amazing, very little tweaking. The Google TV took a while to navigate but once I mastered it I absolutely love it. The remote is ergonomically designed and very easy to use. I'm honestly contemplating getting the 65 inch for my mancave, it's that good of a TV. No blooming and the blacks are inky black. I love this TV.
