Bought this TV to replace an LG 47LS4500-UD that was only 1080p and HDMI-CEC didn't work on the LG TV. This isn't my first 4K TV as I have a Vizio V435-H11 so I'm aware of the image improvements of 4K HDR/Dolby Vision, but this Sony TV is crazy good. It does take a few minutes to make some adjustments to ensure you get Dolby Vision on external devices, but the color accuracy is phenomenal even though the TV isn't a true wide gamut for HDR10. If you wonder if the price for this TV is worth it or not, it definitely is. Make sure when you get this TV to change the picture setting to custom as that is the most accurate and turn off some of the auto sensing features to keep the picture from being ruined. I'm thinking I should throw out my 2020 Vizio TV and buy another one of these Sony TVs because of how amazing the picture is when watching literally anything. This TV is only beaten by OLED TVs which means if you're worried about burn-in from an OLED you should get this Sony X90J TV.

That is my only complaint, YouTube (capped at 1080p) will look much worse as a result of the great picture quality found other places. Perfect for gaming on that 120 hz. Great purchase.

All I can say is this Sony TV is amazing. Makes movies and TV shows look phenomenal. Great picture quality and great motion settings. The only thing, is when you have the motion flow settings turned on at all for video games. There is a big lag from controller to the TV. But once your turn motion flow off. The lag or delay goes away. So motion flow is not that great for video games. The game I was trying to play was Warzone. Their was a big lag between controller and tv. Once I turned off the setting it worked as intended. And the tv still looked amazing. I used a PS4 pro on the tv and omg the graphics were amazing. This is my first 4K tv and it has all the bells and whistles. 4K, 120hrz with HDMI 2.1. A must for next gen consoles.

The picture is very sharp and I think the colors are bright and contrast is good. It has the features I wanted. I don't have much leeway in how my living area is arranged, and my chair was at an angle to the screen at first. Maybe it was just that the TV is new and I needed to get used to a new screen, but I though the angle made the picture a little less sharp and less bright. Fortunately the cabinet it is on is deep enough for me to turn the TV at a slight angle so my view is pretty much straight on. Problem solved. I did get Roku sticks for it and 3 older "dumb" TVs--then cut the cable. Having never seen, much less used, all this technology, I'm pleasantly surprised to be doing pretty well, despite the steep learning curve. Guess old dogs CAN learn new tricks! I joined TotalTech and they were great. A Geek Squad employee delivered the TV one day and did the basic setup, and the TotalTech installer came out the next day to set up the TV's with the apps I wanted and show me how to use everything. They managed to be here as scheduled and on time, despite the Christmas rush. Many thanks to them for their help.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, after much reading and in-store display viewing, I chose the Sony - 50" Class BRAVIA XR X90J Series LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV. I got it on sale before Christmas. After having 2 Sony Bravias before (both were 10 years old and 40" due to one being stolen in a break-in), this was certainly an upgrade. The extra "10 inches" certainly is a bigger picture and more detailed view of things. I can see more details like fine lines and spots on people's faces with greater definition...not that this is my reason for upgrading. The picture, in some cases, is definitely clearer and brighter, especially commercials and sports channels. I have my TV hooked up through eArc and my Onkyo amplifier. I only listen to sound through my stereo system and JBL speakers. The TV sound by itself is quite good. Sony seems to have an upper hand with sound. I do not have a soundbar. After many settings in my amplifier and the television, I finally got things synced. It was not an easy task! I find that everyday viewing is just so-so. My 40" was much better in clarity. The picture has a kind of wash-out to everything I watch unless it is a high definition broadcast. Even HDR is a little washed out. I've actually gone and checked to see if there's a layer of plastic or something still on the screen to make it clearer, but there's nothing on the screen. I've switched to the Vivid setting for everything and had to tone it down because it is just really bright and hurts my eyes after a while. There are times when movement is a little blurred and the definition is not crisp enough for a $900 TV. The other settings of Cinema and Standard just look darker and dull. I don't get all the fuss about those settings. I just want well-defined images and clarity. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing with settings, but you can easily get lost in them trying to find the ultimate setting that is an "aha!" moment. I find that after too many changes, I've had to go back and reset to factory settings, only to have the same thing happen again. I've read many reviews and people say the same things: too many settings and not getting really what they wanted. Professional reviews give it high accolades. Commoners like me might know the profound and excellent features they found. All in all, it is a huge upgrade for me, but the fact is I'm past 30 days return and I guess I'm stuck with it. I'm not one to settle, so I'll keep reading and finding the best setup for my den and viewing situation. It is one of the very top performers of 2021, so I at least "settled" for a top-seller and highly reviewed product. Spend a lot of time reviewing and determining what you want first. Then go and find the TV that fits your standards. There are other brands that might be cheaper and easier to setup.

As good as advertised but high price point

For a few hundred more, you can get an OLED in this 50 inch size. This is why I'll deliver a 4 star rating. Otherwise, the picture is exceptional for non-OLED. Getting used to the Google tv OS will take a bit of patience. It's very similar to the old Android navigationally but has some quirks that I wish were debugged. For instance, I had to reestablish my sound bar several times and it's not easy to do. Seems like, if there is a power interruption of any kind the OS has to re-learn some inputs. This is annoying and can lead to a call to Sony for expediency sake. Sony customer service is quite good through my experience, so don't hesitate. Also, I have not yet stabilized optimal picture settings. I'd prefer to run mostly out of box settings for a few months during break-in before I go down that rabbit hole. I know the picture can be better, not there yet. All in all, a very good tv.
