Almost exactly at the 24-month mark, the TV developed a major defect. The screen is now completely black; while the backlight turns on and I can hear the audio from the menus in the background, there is no picture. After attempting several hard resets (including the manual button forced reset), it’s clear this is a hardware failure. The biggest takeaway for potential buyers: Sony’s manufacturer warranty is only 12 months. If I hadn't purchased the 5-year Geek Squad protection, I’d be looking at a total loss on a TV that isn't even three years old. While the features are great, the lifespan seems short for a modern 4K TV. I highly recommend this model ONLY if you buy the extended support plan to cover yourself when the base warranty runs out.
