Extremely happy with Sony. Sharp, clear picture, intuitive remote and excellent features/SmartTV experience. Two minor annoyances. 1. There are some initial adjustments and experimenting you need to do. One setting was creating a change in picture brightness when scenes changed. 2. Sony made their wall Mount screws so that you almost need to buy a $350 Sony wall mount. I spent a fair amount of time retrofitting my old one to make it work.

Might Be the Best TV I've Ever Owned

Ahead of its time in some regards with respect to features and capabilities. I gave it to a dear friend who needed a TV, not because I didn't like it, but because I knew it was the best TV that I had at the time. I always intended to get another, and this is it. I have a complete studio with several PCs, desktops, iMac, two MacBook Pros and a music production workstation. All of them can be managed from an audio and video standpoint with relative ease from this TV. Highly recommend.

Great TV for gaming and movies

Great for gaming, warzone looked like it was running on my PC (playing on PS5) and felt identical because of the 120hz. The colors look beautiful and it stays clean & crisp from all angles. Would recommend anytime. The audio sounds amazing, didn't even need a sound bar.. The sound feels like I'm in a movie theater sometimes. Downside: The price.

Big upgrade over Samsung!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When our 3 year old Samsung 7000 series had an LED issue resulting in a dark spot in the screen, I began researching replacement options. Not wanting to choose another Samsung I looked for other brands that had good reviews on rtings.com. The Sony X85J seemed to be the top performer for what we were wanting, add to the fact is was $200 off, I decided to try it out. We’ve only had it for a few days, but immediately we could tell it was a major upgrade over the Samsung. The Google OS is snappy and we actually find ourselves using it instead of our Apple TV. If you have other google services or devices, this tv integrates really nicely into those as well. The YouTube TV guide is natively displayed on the Home Screen so you can browse what’s on w/o having to go into the app. Have a Google Nest doorbell? Just say “Show me the doorbell” and the TV displays it. The colors and clarity of this TV are also excellent and blow away our Samsung. If you’re looking for an enjoyable viewing experience and excellent OS, this is the TV for you.

This Sony X85J television has the newer "NexGen 3.0" capable tuner for the upcoming 4k OTA service. I am replacing a 10 year old 46" Sony TV and currently have Sony's Blu-ray player and sound bar. The 4k picture is awesome. It also has 4 HDMI connections that I need. The streaming capability surprised me. It has Google TV for the operating system which I was apprehensive of, but It gives me the option during setup of turning off the microphone to the remote. I am not a fan of Google, Amazon, or any company listening in on our private conversations. The thin bezel allowed me to increase the size to this 50" model because it it located in a cabinet that that I can close. I am very happy with this TV.

Really easy set up!

I am streaming AT&T TV and using the Prime channel to watch videos including Acorn TV through Prime. The videos are find when there is no action on the screen and as soon as movement happens it blurs out and makes watching really difficult....any advice on how to fix this? Normal TV is working fine. Great product! Thank you!

We're sorry to hear the issue that you are having with the TV when watching fast-action programs. If there's pixelation or motion blur on the TV, change the Motionflow setting to off.
On the supplied TV remote, press the HOME button.
Select the Settings gear or sprocket icon.
Under the TV category, select Picture & Display or Display & Sound.
Select Picture adjustments.
Select Advanced settings.
Select Motion.
If your TV has the CineMotion setting, set it to Low or Off.
Select Motionflow.
Select Off.
If the issue still occurs, the video or program you're watching could be the issue.

Set up was not very complicated and the on-screen instructions were easy to follow. While my old tv only allowed the Netflix app, with this one I can watch HBO Max, Peacock AppleTV and all the other streaming services I have access to. I haven’t used all the features yet as I’ve only had the TV a couple of weeks but so far I am very satisfied.
