Customers are saying

Customers highly value the exceptional image quality and smooth bokeh of the 50mm f/1.8 Optical Lens, frequently praising its performance in low light and affordability. Many also appreciate its ease of use and ability to create stunning portraits with a shallow depth of field. While some users noted that the autofocus could be improved and that chromatic aberration is sometimes present, the overall positive feedback highlights its strengths as a versatile and high-performing lens.

This lens is absolutely essential to the Sony Alpha Series line of cameras. Just YouTube the difference between the quality of a kit lens and a prime lens and you’ll see what I mean. In case your getting into photography, zoom lens are lens that come with your camera (also known as the kit lens). But because it’s a kit lens, the zoom lens doesn’t really excel in any one area. That’s why a prime lens (this lens) is absolutely essential in portraits! Be weary, prime lens do not zoom (unlike your kit lens) so you need to be more creative with your shots! The advantage of a prime lens is that it takes better quality photos!

Very good for portraits. note that it is APSC so if you have a full frame camera it will not work unless you crop in

Nice prime for my a6000. Allows for faster shooting wide open at f/1.8 and of course the bokeh for portraits. Don't think of it as just a portrait lens though, nature pics come out great with a tightly focused subject and blurred background keeping your attention where it belongs.

One of the best value (price/quality) for the e-mount system. Sharp, fast and quiet auto-focus, stabilization, even pretty good wide open in low light. Definitely one of the first lenses you should buy to go along with the kit 16-50 or 18-55, for the price you won't be disappointed. The cheapest and sharpest Sony branded e-mount prime.

The 50mm lens takes nice pictures and with a minimum aperture of f/1.8 it takes great low light photos and video with a beautiful bokeh effect people love. Sony's Optical Steady Shot is a plus for handheld shooting.

My first prime lens since it was relatively cheap. Great to start out with if you're using primes. Very sharp and fast in low light. This lens will quickly make you wish you had a wider prime but for the price, it's a great start. I'll be back for something around 28-35 mm

I'm a beginner but this lens has actually captured some really great pictures in both bright/dim light situations. I would also have to say this is a lens best for portraits and not so much for landscapes. However, it still takes great pictures in landscape just not as sharp. Also, prepare yourself to move back and forth to get a picture because the lens actually doesn't zoom in or out, (while the a6000 camera in a particular setting only allows you to zoom in with the lens on). The focus is also okay sometimes it does take a while to adjust but overall for the price of the lens, I don't mind because my pictures still come out great!

Use this on my a6000&a6500. Loved this lens. Mainly Use it for portraits. It's very sharp so you get nice crisp clear pictures. Since it's a f/1.8 you can use it in darker areas and also get nice bokeh from it all at a good price compared to other expensive lenses.

This was the first lens I got for my sony a6000. It has a much larger aperture than the lens that came with the camera so allows for very nice portraits with great bokeh. It is very easy and the color and details come out looking fantastic. Definitely worth the price.

I'm a intermediate casual photographer. I've gone through 3 different lenses and this is the one I use most often nowadays for my NEX-7. I'm pretty satisfied with the other lenses I owned but I was missing one element. What made me decide on this one is based on the dramatic bokeh effect that was pretty difficult to produce on the kit lens and the zoom lens I used for traveling. As soon as I started using this lens my photos dramatically made me look like an experienced photographer and my subjects appear to have more pop especially under darker situations. You have to get used to moving your body in and out as you can't zoom but it made me a better photographer I believe.

I'm choosing a portrait Lens between sigma and Sony. I choose the lowest aperture and I love it because of bokeh effect. I like the build of sony too. Plus the open box deal makes me go with this lens. Since I'm starting to learn photography. I'm hoping best buy they will have good deals also on their wide angles of 16-19mm or even the 30 mm in the future.

Nice fit on my A6500. At 50mm it's fairly long but takes pretty spectacular portraits with as short a depth of field as you would like in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Focus is quiet and quick.

A must have lens. Works well with A6000. The stable shot makes up for the lack of In Body Stablization on the A6000. Beautiful bokeh and low light capabilities.
