Customers are saying

Customers highly value the exceptional image quality and smooth bokeh of the 50mm f/1.8 Optical Lens, frequently praising its performance in low light and affordability. Many also appreciate its ease of use and ability to create stunning portraits with a shallow depth of field. While some users noted that the autofocus could be improved and that chromatic aberration is sometimes present, the overall positive feedback highlights its strengths as a versatile and high-performing lens.

this lens is great.great shots, background blur, the amount of light this gathers is great. add the on lens stabilizer, and you have a winning combo. you won't find anything like this from Canon or Nikon at this price (they're either mostly plastic, or without stabilizer; the good lenses are $500 and up)

Much better quality than the Kit lens. If you own a kit lens and looking for nice low light picture. This is the cheapest Sony auto focus prime lens you can find. AF Quite slow in low light but price/performance is great.

The quality and features you get from this lens for the cost are unbeatable, the SEL18-105PZ being a close second. I think this has the best performance to price ratio for any lens I've owned DSLR or Mirrorless. the auto-focus is quick and silent, the lens is sharp from f4 and higher, it still performs well wide open, but is a bit soft. With all these features you still get OSS which lets you get usable shots with slow shutter speeds.

This is by far my favorite lens in my collection. I've been using it on my 6400, so it's more like a 75mm, but the glass is fire. Super sharp, took it out for night photos with the family (pumpkin patch, etc.) and the 1.8 helped like crazy. I know it's not the "magical 55" focal length, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I have the kit's lense (16-50) and the zoom (55-210) but this is my favorite. With all the lights in the room on I can make Hollywood quality video of my kids playing (at ISO 800 f/2). Very sharp and fast focus too. More expensive than Nikon or Canon 50mm f/1.8 but this seems to be a problem for all Sony E lenses. Not too much to take a star off.

Got this lens to use with my old Sony fs100 and so far it’s been working pretty well. Autofocus and oss work just fine. Lens is sharp not heavy at all. Not a single issue so far.

This lens is sharp and has fast auto focus (AF). It is intended for close up shots but can be used in many ways. I use this as a portrait lens and occasionally on street photography. I do not recommend it if you do not have much space to back up (like a room or event hall) because it is a prime lens that is 50mm and pretty much it is zoomed in quite a bit. Ideal for portraits.
