Customers highly value the exceptional image quality and smooth bokeh of the 50mm f/1.8 Optical Lens, frequently praising its performance in low light and affordability. Many also appreciate its ease of use and ability to create stunning portraits with a shallow depth of field. While some users noted that the autofocus could be improved and that chromatic aberration is sometimes present, the overall positive feedback highlights its strengths as a versatile and high-performing lens.

I have the kit's lense (16-50) and the zoom (55-210) but this is my favorite. With all the lights in the room on I can make Hollywood quality video of my kids playing (at ISO 800 f/2). Very sharp and fast focus too. More expensive than Nikon or Canon 50mm f/1.8 but this seems to be a problem for all Sony E lenses. Not too much to take a star off.

Hi Frankmbs, you're right since it has 50 mm fixed focal length, this lens is ideal for portrait shots. Have fun with it and enjoy. Thank you for choosing Sony! Dave

This little 50 mm lens is great! I actually use it for some of my macro work as well. I just spent a week seaside and took over 300 photos, using this one for much of my work. With the Sony a6300, I get sharp images and great bokeh! Every serious photographer ought to have this lens in their kit.

Great lens for a beginner like I am. It is very easy to create the background blurriness when large apertures are used. Great portrait lens for the price. But I do need to step pretty further back due to the long focal length. I once found myself in the middle of the road when shooting street mural.

This lens is absolutely essential to the Sony Alpha Series line of cameras. Just YouTube the difference between the quality of a kit lens and a prime lens and you’ll see what I mean.
In case your getting into photography, zoom lens are lens that come with your camera (also known as the kit lens). But because it’s a kit lens, the zoom lens doesn’t really excel in any one area. That’s why a prime lens (this lens) is absolutely essential in portraits! Be weary, prime lens do not zoom (unlike your kit lens) so you need to be more creative with your shots! The advantage of a prime lens is that it takes better quality photos!
