Customers are saying

Customers highly value the exceptional image quality and smooth bokeh of the 50mm f/1.8 Optical Lens, frequently praising its performance in low light and affordability. Many also appreciate its ease of use and ability to create stunning portraits with a shallow depth of field. While some users noted that the autofocus could be improved and that chromatic aberration is sometimes present, the overall positive feedback highlights its strengths as a versatile and high-performing lens.

Great lens for a beginner like I am. It is very easy to create the background blurriness when large apertures are used. Great portrait lens for the price. But I do need to step pretty further back due to the long focal length. I once found myself in the middle of the road when shooting street mural.

I purchased this for my A6000 camera and it takes great portrait pictures. Definitely can tell the difference between the stock camera and these lens. The quality of the pictures is impeccable. Although you may have to stand further than a stock camera, it takes great pictures of further objects other than portrait photos.

This is probably my favorite lens so far! even though it's a prime lens, almost nothing stops me from just getting closer of farther away from my subject. F1.8 will give you a very nice shallow depth of field that will instantly make your pictures stand out! Don't think about it, just get it!

This Sony lens is top quality, and unlike some of the other Sony's is reasonably priced. Silent operation and OSS make the lens very usable. This lens is a perfect match for the A6000 series of cameras. I like the 75mm equivalent focal length. It is the first lens I added after the kit zoom lens that came with the camera.

We started to explore deeper the capabilities of our Sony A6000 and wanted a good prime lens for portraits (larger aperture), from all the reviews we did read this one was looking like a no brainer and it did not disappoint. Very pleased with the light and the details at high apertures, beautiful results, this lens is a pleasure to use.

This lens is perfect for low light situations. I filmed in a club which was very dark. This could easily be used as primary lens. It is not full frame though.

This is my first lens to purchase that does not come with the original camera. It works very well for photography. I am a newbie to the camera world, but this proves beneficial for me. I will surely make a collection of these lenses, easy to use and install.

Bokeh is pleasing but not as sharp in the corners at 1.8. OSS feature is a must and is really appreciated everytime. I've always wanted portrait quality photos of people and am able to do that just fine with the 50mm. I bought open box for 200 after tax, and I think is a great addition to everyone's Sony camera gear.

I happen to purchase this lens and when tried out to collage upon a album containing my crazy ideas I could see that the lens help me for a instant setting that makes me more focused on the subject rather than wasting my time to do my configurations. It is a best buy I have done in my recent days.

Great for portraits! This lens is a 75mm full frame equivalent. It’s amazing on portraits and a must have in your arsenal. Gives that amazing bokeh look. With a 1.8 wide Open aperture, it gets great low light photography as well! “The nifty 50”

This lens has exceeded my expectations for photography. It also takes great nature scenes and pretty good for macro shots. So much better than the stock lens. This stays on my camera at all times unless I need the telephoto lens. Will need to invest in a macro lens in the future.

I was looking for a portrait lens and this one couldn't be better. The f 1.8 is really great and gives you perfect focus on the person and defocuses everything else - it's easy to set it how you like it in Manual mode. Great, affordable lens that makes stunning photos - would recommend to anyone!

I recommend to only use this for portraits and landscape because you have to be a good distance from subject, if close to subject you will lose a lot of what you're looking for in a photo such as background and what your trying to tell the viewer on what you captured

Great sharp lens, aperture 1.8 allows for bokeh. I gave 4 stars because this 50mm is alot bulkier than a canon or Nikon but that's not a problem.

After reading multiple reviews I decided to purchase this 50mm prime lens as a portrait lens rather than trying to use the kit lens that came with my Sony @6000 camera. The difference in image quality is well worth the additional investment. Having a "nifty fifty" is the way to go !
