My husband and I spented almos 4 month to make the decision to buy a new TV. We have never had a smarth TV in home. We are sure made a great decition because we enjoy watching movies and sports with beautifull colors. Even when the screen is dark you can watch very clear. We recomend used Geek Squad protection, because it alway can hapen somting after time pass. They come to your home quickly to fix any problems.

Bought the TV as an engagement prop (video link below). Worked out perfect thanks to the salesman letting me borrow a Samsung remote because the Sony TV remote wouldn't conceal the ring. This is my first 4K TV, so I did a lot of research. After reading about various brands and going to Best Buy to look at the TVs in person several times I chose the XBR-55x850D. I'm very happy as I have always been with Sony TVs.

Picture great. Like Android. Like imbedded Playstation Vue as I cut my cable a few months ago and this allows easy access without another piece of hardware (Amazon Fire). I access OTA programming via TiVo box with lifetime guide included with the hardware. Con: cost, $900 on sale.

I love the image on the tv. The colors and sharpness are amazing. I really like the smart features, BUT after 30 days of use, I am having problems connecting to the wifi. Geek Squad is coming out to hopefully fix this so we will see. Another issue I have with this TV is the light bleed. It's pretty bad on a black screen. See image below.

I originally purchased an 4k LG tv at the same price point and wasn't impressed. I returned the LG and swapped it for this 4k Sony TV. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with the functionality and image quality. 5 stars

With Sony products you at least get what you would expect,Qualty!

I can honestly say I'm disappointed. In less then 2 days I had to return and exchange this TV 6 freaking times!!!!! Corners were not lighting up correctly. And 2 out of the 6 TV LED's were corroded on the bottom left hand corner. SONY should really manage their quality control because this was a hastle for me to go back and forth and exchange the TV 6 times.

We bought this to less than a month ago. I've already lost track of the number of times it has crashed. Everything will be fine, then suddenly there's screeching and a green screen. Have to unplug it, wait, plug it back in...and then wait for Android to start and apps to optiimize over and over again. The picture is gorgeous, but hardly worth the aggravation. Plan to return it ASAP. Also Hoping to avoid the fee for not having the box. Who spends this much on something and expects to return it?!?

So i moved to a new house, bought a brand new television and paid to have it mounted over my fireplace. It looks great. turn it on and in the middle of the set up it makes a horrid noise (like a dying bird) and goes black and non functional. Now I need to return it and pay to have it remounted. My installer had never seen anything like this with a SONY. I am completely down about this purchase. its a total bummer

I did a lot of research when it came to this TV, and went to the stores to see them in person. I think that how these TV's are displayed does them great injustice as the feed is shared and they are not in an optimum environment at all. Picture, out of the box is great under Cinema or Cinema Pro if you want to pop in a Blu Ray and enjoy; however, I went the extra mile looked up calibration and enjoyed a even more refined experience. The game mode has a excellent calibration for playing video games, and a good test is the game The Order 1866 not a great game, but visually a stunner. The dark areas in that game really help tell how much you can or can't see. I did nothing to this configuration when playing my PS4/Xbox One as it looks phenomenal. The upscaling looks great even on cable footage, and does wonders to games on consoles I was surprised how much of a difference there was. The fit and finish of the device is amazing looks like a million bucks, and even using the stand looks sharp. Wall mounting was a breeze due to the light weight, but I still recommend two people for the job. Sound, terrible but that is expected. I am sure you will be using a sound bar or HT system for this display. It gets you by while testing, but would not recommend it without a audio playback device. I highly recommend this display and giving it a 5/5 starts for the display function of it and how well built it is. I know the sound is lack luster; however, no one buying this TV will using the built in speakers so I do not see it as a set back, but figured I mention it.

Traded in my ks8000 for the x850d and immediately noticed a difference when using Direct tv. Everything looks much more crisp and the colors are not over saturated. The upscaling technology and motion control is excellent. The viewing angles are obviously better with IPS. The overall design of the x850d is awesome with the modern style and sharp angles, not as flashy as the chrome ks8000. It compliments the room very well and quality is top notch. The only negative thing to say is that in a completely dark room with some dark scenes, such as Underworld, it took some time messing with the settings and a bit of calibrating to minimize the light bleed. The black levels are not as deep as the ks8000, but for someone who uses their tv for video games and direct tv. 98% of the time watching tv is with brighter scenes or a lamp on at night so this is not an issue for me at all. It all depends on what you are using the tv for. Do some research and weigh out the pros and cons of IPS and VA panels to see what is best for your needs. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

We've had this 4K HDTV for about 6 weeks now. The picture quality is excellent and the apps/online features are great and easy to use. With 4 HDMI inputs, composite, component audio/video inputs, along with antenna/cable and 3 USB inputs (1 USB 3.0), you can connect everything to this TV. The auto 4K up-scaling provides a great picture, regardless of the input or source. With the increased motion flow rate, blur is not an issue when watching sports and movies. As other reviews have said, make sure to use quality HDMI cables, with 18 GBPS. The price was great, < $900 on sale. We're very pleased with this TV so far.

I have owned a few TV's over the years from CRT's to Plasmas, LCD's, etc., but no tv has ever come close to this Sony 4K TV. Let's face it; 4K is the future - who wouldn't want higher resolution content. This tv has a fantastic picture, period. Coming from my two-year-old 1080P Vizio, the difference is night and day. Don't think you need native 4K content to enjoy 4K. The TV has a built in upscaled to improve the quality of your existing SD and HD content. Another plus of this TV is that it has HDR which helps future proof this set. The upscaled content looks great, especially for Yankee games. When watching the ball game, it feels like you are there. The color accuracy is some of the best I have seen, excellent contrast, the motion of play is clean with no stuttering, and the upscaled resolution is fantastic. The built-in Android TV is great with most of the content you could ever desire. On my iPad Pro, if I am watching a YouTube video, I have the option to mirror it right on my tv - pretty convenient. There is a lot of 4K content from Amazon to Netflix and more. There are an ample amount inputs from HDMI, Optical, and more which should be ample for most people. This TV also has the "old fashioned" composite inputs (Yellow, Red, and White) that are becoming increasingly rare these days. One shortcoming for this tv like the many television's today is the built in speakers. I will be honest; they are not the best. Pick up a nice sound bar - you will be much happier. I picked up the latest Polk sound bar just released this year. Overall, this TV is excellent, and I would recommend it to anyone. The price is good, and even better when it is on sale. Pick one up today!
