Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 55" Class 4K Ultra HD TV's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and ease of use. Many appreciate the 3D capabilities and the effective upscaling of lower-resolution content. However, some users find the remote control somewhat difficult to use, and a few have noted concerns about input lag for gaming. While some consider the price point high, the overall positive feedback highlights the TV's strong performance in key areas.

Absolutely beautiful 4K HDTV. Have had Sony sets for decades and this one is outstanding. Has multiple HDMI ports plus others and nice covers to keep all the cords from view. Easy to set up. Connected Apple TV, an older Sony Dream Sound system plus a couple self-powered Yamaha speakers. Everything works great. Watching TV and movies on this is great entertainment. Will be fun to watch a 3D movie sometime. Be sure to ask the delivery guys to remove their shoes. Had to spend 4 hours shampooing a lot of dirty spots off the carpeting. That wasn't fun.

This TV is absolutely stunning. For not being OLED It's probably the closest to it without spending that extra amount for one. The colors are great the tv is very clean in the back and it's extremely thin as well. The android portion of the tv is nice and convenient to have as well. I'd say the only negative thing I have to say is that the remote has a delay when controlling my direct tv. I didn't want to take stars away from the review because of this because others experiences may vary.

    Heavy Clouding/Light Bleed

This TV does HDR10 very well. For gamers, the HDR creates severe lag which affects online gaming. The picture quality is very good while watching 4K HDR content. It is also capable of a good 1080p upscaling and can do sports watching well. However, there is severe light beed in dark scenes. For a premium TV, this was very disappointing to see. It really is a raffle if you get one with mild light bleed or one with severe light bleed. Apparently, the manufacturer thinks this is okay because a Sony rep at bestbuy found nothing wrong with this TV. PROS: This TV can get very bright, which helps for HDR (but really, adjust settings so you do not hurt your eyes). Once you set your inputs to "enhanced", your plugged in devices can do HDR. Apps on the TV can also do HDR. There are many picture modes too. It communicates very well with HDMI connected devices (no handshake issues). CONS: As previously mentioned, light bleed is an issue. Watching a movie like Star Trek was not enjoyable as I could see light in dark space scenes (which on the whole were now greyish). The smart TV interface is also quite poor. It freezes sometimes and the apps crash. It is Android based and is overall very disappointing in my opinion. I would only recommend this TV if you were to purchase it for around $1000. As the x850d is also a very good TV and dark scenes on this x930d are not that great, I would recommend the x850d over the x930d (if the $300 price difference remains).

The Sony XBR-55X930D is a fantastic television for anyone looking for a high end TV. I researched Samsung, Sony, and LG for months looking at all of the reviews In side by side comparison and also talking to the Best buy sales reps and the manufacture reps for both Samsung and Sony, I picked the Sony 930D. It costs a little more but you get what you pay for. Real quality cost a little bit extra but is worth the price. The TV has every feature I could use for 10 years. - 4K resolution is great; everything seems just a little bit clearer and detailed. -Football/Sports mode was fantastic with all the college and NFL championships. - I have not tried the 3D but other reviews say it works quite well. Active 3D. - Android TV is responsive and easy to use; more apps can be downloaded for various streaming services (amazon video, Crackle, hulu, HBO/Showtime, VUVU, WWE, etc.) as well as tons of games and other fun apps. - Netflix and Google Play have dedicated remote buttons; they are quite handy and provide a slew of options to stream, purchase, and rent content. - Menus are intuitive and easy to navigate; tons of fine-detail options and the 'Action Menu' allows for quick tweaks to common settings. - Voice searching with Google is simple, works amazingly well, and provides fast access to information and relevant media.

Very impressed by the features and performance of this tv..picture clarity is unreal. The 3d aspect is amazing, and the 4K movies are even better. My only knock on it is the remote control.. If the buttons were raised a little more than it would be perfect , they are to flush which results in some mistaken pushes.

This 55" TV is a step up from my old 50" plasma set. It gives me five more inches of size in the same physical space. Would have gone larger but that meant new furniture. This Sony will be the foundation for my 4k elements whihc include a PS4, and others soon to come. In short, I love the picture quality compared to my previous set, and it seems responsive enough for the games that I play (all styles). However... The Andriod OS is my only complaint so far. For certain operations, the remote control is very slow to respond. It may be do to the processing speed of the CPU, or the way multitasking is being managed. It sometimes feels like buttons pressed on the remote are queued up, and then processed rapidly after a delay. One feature I really dislike is the INPUT select button, which seems to timeout before I have a chance to find/select the video source. That is partly due to the small buttons on the remote, which are hard to find by touch and/or low light settings. This could be improved with user programmable functions for quick access. If that feature is there already, I have not found it.

This is one of the best picture quality 4K TV these days. Best natural colors comparable to Plasma TV. First time I played a Blu-ray disc with this TV, I was amazed with the color and clarity of the picture. Very close to 4K HD level of resolution with its up-converting ability when you play a Blu-ray disc. For the price this TV is as good as it gets. Sony's higher-end models are slightly better if only put side by side to compare but on it's own you have the best possible TV that the money can buy. Smart features are excellent. You can speak to the remote what you want to see and it will play it for you by streaming from the available sources that you can choose. The only criticism I have is that the remote turn on button isn't able to turn on the TV quickly, you may try a few times sometimes just to turn it on. I'm not sure if that's an intended future, so that the unit doesn't turn on by accidentally touching the remote and the TV turns on and be forgotten on.

I was toying with the idea of upgrading my 850C from last year (which, btw is a great TV), since all reviews were talking amazingly about the black levels from the 930D. Well, they were not lying. This TV is just out of this world. Coupled with the Samsung 4K UHD, it truly feels like looking through a window. If you are unsure about getting this TV, just go for it and see what you are missing! Some other details: they dropped that annoying touchpad remote for a redesigned button one: rather than buttons sticking out like with the 2015 series, this is a thin rubber membrane that makes better use of the space. And the slate stand for this TV looks incredible in person. Again, best TV out there!

Before this tv, I purchased 850D. Although the tv was crystal clear, I was not satisfied with the black levels it produced. Then, I returned 850D and got 930D. 930D was perfect and I could watch the movies in the night. Even my wife who is no so particular about the tvs in general noticed the difference in the black levels.

Picture (when 4K) is fantastic (when 1080p) very good. Smart feature is well rounded. Aesthetically it looks sleek. Controller is light and seems cheap but no complaints. Only down side is the integrated speakers. They are way under powered and have weak volume levels.

I bought this to replace my Sony KDL-V40XBR1 which I've had for many years and it still works great. But since I wanted 3D and I wanted the best picture I could afford I compared this to the LG 55UH8500 (no analog audio output and not as bright a picture) and the LG OLED55E6P (superb picture and passive 3D, but much pricier). I picked the Sony because the picture is very close to OLED quality, the local dimming is excellent for being side-lit, and the bright picture works very well for viewing in a room with daylight coming in. I use this along with the Samsung UBD-K8500 Blu-Ray player, as well as using Netflix and Hulu streaming and I couldn't be happier. And the 3D is excellent (I use Hi-SHOCK Black Heaven glasses) with no visible crosstalk with the 55-inch TV.

This tv has a great picture. I was watching a show the other day, in standard definition on an older tv. I turned on my new Sony and tuned to the same channel I had been watching. I couldn't believe how clear the picture was because of the up convention this tv provides. I figured, if standard definition looks better, how about high definition? Well let me tell you the high definition looks fantastic. I have since subscribed to a 4K provider and cannot believe how clear the picture is now. I used to watch the standard broadcast shows as they were and until I saw how great they can be on a UHD tv, I didn't know what I was missing! Thank you Sony, no baloney!

This is my first 55" TV and I love it. The picture is great, 4K, and the sports broadcasts are terrific, can't wait for the Bruins season to start. We bought a sound bar with it and was told by the very helpful guy at best buy that it would be best if placed right in front, which kid of blocks the remote sensor, which can be annoying. We also had a intermittent issue with the sound out of the bar, which I fixed by chatting online with Sony, via there website. It was fixed during the one chat and we have not experienced the problem since. The fix was a simple total remove power wait a few minutes retry without the surge protector. It worked so we powered back up the way we had it originally and all is well.
