Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 55" Class 4K Ultra HD TV's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and ease of use. Many appreciate the 3D capabilities and the effective upscaling of lower-resolution content. However, some users find the remote control somewhat difficult to use, and a few have noted concerns about input lag for gaming. While some consider the price point high, the overall positive feedback highlights the TV's strong performance in key areas.

We bought this TV to replace our Sony 46" that bite the dust. The thing that sold me was the 3D technology and the 4K up-scaling. This is a Android TV with four HDMI ports and a Netflix app button on the remote. This TV works great with our OTA and our internet connection with plenty of apps to choose from. The 3D glasses that we had from the previous Sony TV did not work since the technology changed in 2013. So had to buy new glasses since this TV doesn't include them. Truly a great TV for 3D. Also I was spoiled on my last TV with getting PIP, which this TV does not have. This TV does run hotter in temperature than my previous TV, so make sure you give it enough vent space. Overall this is a great TV with awesome picture quality.

We replaced our Samsung Plasma TV with this when our plasma TV set failed. This is the best looking LED picture we have seen so far. Almost equal to plasma quality, and almost as good as OLED but at a lower price. Colors are vibrant, whites are white, blacks are fairly black, very little judder. We are very pleased with this set.

Do yourself a favor and buy the 65 inch version. I have the 55 and love it, but I wish it was larger for the living room...guess I'll have to get it! The only issue I have with this tv is the high input lag for gaming, but other than that, it's splendid.

Great TV overall. It's got a nice, slim design and I'm glad Sony is one of the few TV makers still designing TVs with center stands and not tiny legs at each end of the TV. Awesome picture quality and one of the better smart TV systems. Until OLED starts to come down in price, this Sony is a great alternative.

Beautiful picture quality under all circumstances. Upscaling does a wonderful job even with a basic cable signal. Digital noise filter removes all artifacts from moving images like sports. Google voice search works well on all applications. Very useful in searching for artist or song in Spotify.

High quality picture, Intuitive menus, easy Android applications such as Netflix and Amazon video make this a great choice. I like the updates that keep this TV current. The 4K picture looks great with DirectTv. I would definately recommend this TV if you don't mind the relatively steep price tag.

Bought the 65" and liked it so much I also bought the 55". There is no better TV available today. Best picture, great connections for sound etc. Just what the doctor ordered as they say. I know the OLED TVs are a better picture when new. I have heard several times about burn-in on OLEDs plus currently they are way more money so I avoided them.

Note: This only applies to the 55" set. Let me start out by saying the picture is amazing. I went through two XBR55X850D sets before settling on this TV. The previous sets had a fair amount of backlight bleed where this has nearly none. The picture is as good as you can get from an LCD in a reasonable price range. The only way you can do better is by moving up to the Z9D. It's also nice to have unlimited connectivity options, including 4 HDMI 2.0a ports. If I had anything bad to say about this set it would be regarding the software. The X930D runs Android TV, which works very well on the X800D and even X850D. The X930D, however, has some serious performance problems from time to time. At times, the volume will lag, while at others apps will crash for no reason. I suspect this is due to the TV only having 1.5GB RAM and a dual core CPU. All in all, this is a nice high-end TV that can compete neck and neck with the Samsung models on everything but perhaps price. For someone who values privacy, the extra money is worth it.

    Painless Set Up

This T.V. replaced my 55 inch Panasonic Plasma. Plasma televisions are kind of in a class of their own but the market is limited for Plasma smart T.V.'s. I needed to catch up with the technology so off to shop for a new LED 4K UHD 3-D Connected Smart TV. I spent several hours reading about all of my choices and went to Best Buy and watched some examples in the Audio / Video dark room. We decided on the Sony Bravia for tech reasons but most TV pictures can be fine tuned to your liking, making it not a big deciding factor in the purchase. We took the set home and plugged it in and basically turned it on. It pretty much sets itself up. I just plugged the satellite, sound bar and BluRay in and we were off. Word of warning, you better have an alternative audio device because the speakers on the set are almost nonexistent. The set operates as advertised and I look to be using this TV for 10 years, which is my average TV lifespan. In short, Excellent picture, easy set up and technologically up to date.

    Sony Bravia Impresses as always

So, it was time to upgrade and boy did we need it. Old Faithful, as I had begun to call my older 40' Sony Bravia, had been with me for 10 years. In most states that is long enough to establish common-law marriage. But, we grew apart and, sadly, had to go our separate ways. Fortunately for me, my old TV had a younger, prettier, and much more gifted sister. The Sony - 55" Class (54.6" diag) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 3D - 4K Ultra HD TV with High Dynamic Range was the perfect choice. Even without the 3D the visuals are stunning and the color and depth are rich and inviting. The 3D though, is absolutely mind blowing. As always Sony's interface for settings and set-up were extremely easy and intuitive. We can't be happier with our pick. Coupling with the Sony TDGBT500A 3D glasses perfected the deal for us. There is certainly a reason I've chosen Sony every time for my viewing needs for the past 20 years. With this type of quality and performance they will keep me for 20 more.

Beautiful picture. Nice dark blacks and vibrant colors. Was a gift and the recipient had a very critical eye and lives it. It was supposed to come with a TV wall mount but Best Buy didn't send it. I called them and they said they would but haven't recieved it. I'll have to call again.

Glad I went with the 930d model over the 850d. Has great blacks great color overall picture is amazing I barely had to touch the settings. I really like the look and build quality. The only bad is the built in speakers are weak which is no surprise. Very pleased with my purchase.

These are a mixed bag. Great black levels, great colors, nice design, but... Not so good on fast scenes, picture is so so, some scenes are amazing but some look worse than 480p and it happens on fast moving transition scenes, almost looks like it had something to do with the refresh rate. Amazon app does not work properly, and if you read up on it, it is happening on several Sony models. Android is also slow on it with a lot of input lag. I had to return the TV in the end but if Sony fixed the issues on the newer models these would be the best midrange TV-s. Black levels and color almost matches the OLED TV-s and that's the only strong feature on this particular model. At this time I have replaced it with the competitors TV set and we will see how that one does.

During my comparisons, the assessments of both the Sony 930 and the Samsung 9000 were excellent. Both products had equivalent high quality comments in all major categories. I finally chose the Sony due to its rich contrast and deep blacks. No regrets.

Whereas there is very little 4K available it is hard to evaluate the TV's full capabilities, but I am very pleased with the TV's upscaling feature and its overall picture quality. I am a professional photographer so I am very critical of true to life flesh tones. which this TV really delivers. I was hesitate to purchase a Sony TV because of light bleed issues, but that past issue has evidently been corrected, whereas I have no problems.
