The Sony Bravia 8 is an amazing woled tv. The tv has sonya one slate design making it, to my knowledge the thinest Sony Oled ever released. This tv is actually and oled evo tv with better brightness. It is mosy likley the same panel found in the Lg C4 oled. That tv is abiut 1040 to 1,100 depending on who reviewed it. It this years sony is just has bright. The build quality is premium and even rhe bezles have an Embroidered like pattern all across them giving an even more premium fuel. I purchased a 55 inch TV and this is the first time that a 55 inch Sony tv that i bought had multiple feet positions So you can fit it on a narrower tv stand if you won’t wall-mount it. The last thing I’d like to touch on is the overhauled Menu system. Last year’s a95L tv actually is running the 2024 system software. It’s a bit easier to find things this year. Much like the LG C4, The extra brightness alone and superior build quality might be enough of a reason to upgrade from last years a80L or the prior years a80K , or A80J. I definitely recommend this TV. The TV is $200 off right now which is a decent discount. It will likely drop lower during Black Friday so if you can wait you’ll definitely get a better deal.

Set Up was easy and took about 20 minutes. Great instructions. Picture is outstanding using the vivid mode. Home audio (I own an old Bose system) was a little tricky just have to change your audio settings that takes seconds. I had to double check the initial audio set up to understand how that works. Had an old Sony Bravia (about 15 years) that I replaced. This is just fantastic. Would recommend this TV to anyone.

Television has long been a cornerstone of entertainment and information, evolving significantly over the years. Modern TVs offer an impressive array of features that enhance the viewing experience, from crystal-clear 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) to smart functionality that integrates streaming services, apps, and voice controls. Whether you're into movies, sports, or binge-watching your favorite shows, today's televisions offer something for everyone. One of the standout features of current TVs is the image quality. 4K resolution is now the standard in most models, and with the addition of HDR, the visual experience is stunning, offering deep contrasts and vibrant colors that immerse you in whatever you're watching. OLED and QLED technology have further pushed the boundaries of screen brightness, contrast, and color accuracy, making TVs look more lifelike than ever. Another major development is the smart TV functionality. With built-in Wi-Fi, streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ are easily accessible without the need for an external device. Many smart TVs now support voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant, allowing you to control your TV with simple commands, from changing channels to adjusting volume or even searching for specific content. Sound quality has also seen improvement, though this remains an area where many TVs fall short compared to their visual capabilities. While many models come with decent built-in speakers, a soundbar or external audio system often enhances the experience. In larger rooms, a home theater setup can truly elevate your viewing. On the downside, the price can be a significant factor for those looking to upgrade. Premium models with the latest tech, such as OLED or 8K resolution, can cost several thousand dollars. For many, however, mid-range 4K TVs offer an excellent balance of price and performance. Overall, the modern television offers an impressive blend of features and capabilities, making it a must-have in homes for entertainment, education, and connectivity. Whether you're upgrading to enjoy better picture quality or embracing the smart features of today's TVs, they continue to be an essential part of our daily lives.

Hi Pastel, Thank you for your detailed review of the Sony BRAVIA 8! We appreciate your insights into the evolution of modern TVs and the impressive array of features they offer.

The BRAVIA 8 model indeed stands out with its stunning 4K resolution and HDR capabilities, providing deep contrasts and vibrant colors that enhance the viewing experience. The integration of smart functionality, including access to popular streaming services and support for voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, makes it a versatile choice for any entertainment setup.

We acknowledge your point about sound quality, and while the built-in speakers are designed to deliver a good audio experience, pairing the TV with a soundbar or external audio system can further elevate the sound quality, especially in larger rooms.

Regarding the price, we understand that premium models can be a significant investment. However, the BRAVIA 8 offers an excellent balance of price and performance, making it a valuable addition to any home.

We are glad to hear that the BRAVIA 8 meets your expectations and continues to be an essential part of your entertainment experience. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam Sony_US

We are very happy with our purchase. The colors look more natural than other brands we compared. Because of the TV’s flat design, including the back, it sits very close to the wall when mounted, which looks great. The built-in speakers are reasonable for a small room, though we prefer deeper surround sound with more bass. We plan to continue using the TV speakers until we find a good sound system at a reasonable price.

It's great that the flat back allows for a clean, close-to-wall mount—that really does enhance the overall look. Thank you for choosing Sony and enjoy your viewing!

I am very happy with this TV. Like others often do, I spent a great deal of time researching and the Sony Bravia 8 was the best match for me and my budget. I hired the Geek Squad to deliver and set it up and, WOW, the picture is beyond amazing. This is a sharp looking TV and I like the two options for the feet placement. I also found the audio to be better than I expected. Several days after I ordered the TV there was a price drop and Best Buy refunded me the difference. I appreciate the great service I received from Best Buy and am thoroughly enjoying this incredible Sony TV!

Solid Panel With a Few Quirks

The Bravia 8 has a lot going for it for the price. It’s a solid OLED panel with VRR support for great gaming, great contrast and brightness for content consumption and the sound, especially when used with compatible sound bars from the HT-A5000 and up, really comes through clean. A few quirks I’ve come across is sometimes sound output will default back to the TV by itself when a soundbar is connected but it’s not a huge issue, and as someone who is more of a future-proof feature person, not having 4 full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports is a bit of a letdown. Overall, a great value add to any living room.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Bravia 8, ZachG. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the value it offers with its OLED panel, VRR support, and excellent picture quality. Additionally, it’s good to know that the sound quality performs well, especially when paired with compatible soundbars like the HT-A5000 and up.

We recognize that the issue of sound output reverting to the TV can be quite frustrating, and we sincerely appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your review offers valuable insights that will help guide our efforts for improvement. To assist in resolving this matter, we recommend checking for any pending updates and following the troubleshooting steps outlined at this link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00020051.

We also understand your concerns regarding the availability of HDMI 2.1 ports. While the Bravia 8 may not feature four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, please rest assured that the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) feature is still available in accordance with the eARC specifications outlined in HDMI 2.1 standards.

We genuinely appreciate your feedback and are committed to continuously enhancing our products to better meet customer needs. Thank you for your thoughtful review and for choosing our brand!

The "Everything Just Works" OLED: Why the Sony Bra

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Having spent some time with the Sony Bravia 8, I can see why it’s stayed so popular as a go-to Oled for Sony customers even into late 2025. It really strikes that perfect balance for someone who wants a high-end cinematic experience without having to obsess over technical settings. Here is a breakdown of what makes this TV feel so special: That Signature Sony Picture The first thing you notice is the processing. A lot of people talk about "motion handling," but in person, it just means that sports and fast-paced action movies look incredibly smooth without that weird "soap opera" effect you get on cheaper screens. The XR Processor does this magic trick where it makes regular HD streaming look almost like native 4K—it’s crisp and clean without looking over-processed. Perfect Blacks and "Pop" Since it's an OLED, the blacks are truly "inky." If you’re watching a movie with a space scene or a dark thriller, the background is pitch black, which makes the colors and highlights absolutely pop. I’ve seen some reviews nitpicking the peak brightness, but honestly, in a standard living room, it is plenty bright. In fact, during HDR scenes, it can actually be a bit of a "torch" in a dark room! Sound That Actually Works One of the coolest features—and something I wish more brands did—is the Acoustic Surface Audio+. Instead of tiny speakers hidden in the bottom, the actual screen vibrates to produce sound. It makes a huge difference; when a character talks, the voice actually feels like it’s coming from their mouth, not from the floor. For most people, you won’t even feel the need to buy a soundbar right away. Why It’s Still a Great Buy in 2025 Even though there are newer "Mark II" versions out there now, the original Bravia 8 has held its ground as the standard OLED powerhouse. It’s incredibly reliable, the Google TV interface is snappy and easy to use, and it just feels like a premium piece of tech in your living room. Summary of what owners love: • Color Accuracy: It looks "right" straight out of the box—no professional calibration needed. • Build Quality: It has a sleek, thin design with a versatile stand that can be raised if you do decide to add a soundbar later. • Gaming: It’s basically the best friend for a PS5, with features like Auto HDR Tone Mapping that make games look stunning instantly. If you’re looking for a TV that makes everything—from Netflix to gaming—look like a theater experience, the Bravia 8 is a fantastic investment.

      Hi Zgras,

It is truly wonderful to know that the BRAVIA 8 is providing you with such a premium, cinematic experience even into late 2025! We are thrilled that the XR Processor’s motion handling and upscaling are hitting the mark for you, and that the Acoustic Surface Audio+ is making your favorite movies feel more immersive. It is fantastic to hear that the "inky" blacks and seamless PS5 integration have made this such a worthwhile investment for your home.

Thank you for being such a thoughtful Sony customer and for sharing such a detailed breakdown of what makes this TV special.

Best buy wants reviews. I don't sometimes. I never win the incentive though. But I can come here and disgrace them. They introduced Total Tech Membership a few years back. It was amazing. Since it's inception they have been doing everything they can to take away from it. It's not as amazing anymore. My 2nd gripe is that they got rid of the gaming program. For the membership you could get 20 percent of brand new games. Another amazing program that they killed. I wonder when Best Buy will stop pooping on its customers. My 3rd gripe is their handling of pokemon cards. Do better Best Buy. Sincerely, a customer who wants to love you but you keep charging me for replacement plans I already paid for. P.S. Shoot me that 4 hundo for my amazing review and long history of supporting your poop tactics

I hoped that the OLED screen type would not reflect the room environment, but it displays the lighter objects in the room more than I had imagined in the daytime environment. I should have purchased an LED. The OLED does not show enough graininess also. I had an LED for 20 years and am accustomed to being able to see the difference between a cotton shirt and a polyester shirt. OLED screens have too much gloss for my taste. The tv can not handle some of the old black and white movies as I look at the black areas streaking and moving around during the dark room interior or outside nighttime scenes. I will have to hang black plastic bags along my living room wall to eliminate my daytime reflection problem. The lack of seeing the depth in material makes the screen look like it provides a 2D picture vs 3D picture (in teeny detail of course). I will just have to get used to "the new look" that my OLED provides. As for the setup of the tv, I had a 3-way switcher hooked up with the old tv and my TIVO device and my Blu-ray device. I had a problem when trying to tell the tv, when establishing the settings, that I plugged in the Tivo to HDMI 2. It refused to accept such. I had to remove my 3-way switch. I plugged the Blu-ray into HDMI 1. I will have to go into the Settings function and change to HDMI 1 when I want to play from that device probably. I have not tried to play a disc still because I am afraid to change the current setting. It took too long to get the settings to where the tv will work when I grab my Tivo remote and turn on the tv. I do not want to screw up the current settings. Maybe I will have enough courage to attempt such 5-10 years from now, or maybe I just need to get drunk and say "Screw it - I want to see a movie from my Blu-ray." My old LED provided a sound that was louder and seemed more realistic. I never felt like I needed a sound bar with such, but I had the desire to have better quality as soon as I started viewing such. I am not declaring that this OLED has poor quality. I am saying that it has lower quality than my LED and that I feel compelled to go to the store and spend an extra $150 - $200 for a better sound experience via a sound bar. That, of course, will create another "hook-up" challenge. I did not need a sound bar with the LED. This sound aspect disappointment is equal to the visual disappointment that I wrote about above. I changed from LED to OLED and need to adjust my way of thinking. The sound aspect can be compensated for with more money, but the "flatness" and glossiness of the new visual representation can not. I will click on the button "Yes" for the question about recommending this product, but that "Yes" applies only to those who are accustomed to LCD and OLED screens.

Thank you for your incredibly detailed and honest feedback, DaveK. We're sorry to hear that your experience with the K55XR80 hasn't fully met your expectations, especially after being accustomed to your previous TV for so long. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, as they are crucial for our product development and for helping other customers make informed decisions.

We understand your feelings about the visual differences between your old LED and your new OLED. The characteristics you describe—the glossiness and lack of "graininess"—are indeed features of OLED technology, which aims to provide perfect blacks and stunning contrast. We recognize that this "new look" can be a significant adjustment for those used to the visual characteristics of LED panels. We also appreciate you bringing the issues with older black and white movies to our attention.

Regarding your comments about the reflections, you're right that OLED screens, with their deeper blacks, can sometimes show reflections more than some LED models. Our newest screens do incorporate advanced anti-reflection technology, but they still operate best in environments where you can control the light. We understand your frustration, and we'll be sure to pass your feedback on to our engineering team.

We also want to help with the setup issues you're experiencing. It sounds like you've had a frustrating time getting your TIVO and Blu-ray player connected, and we sincerely apologize for that. Our support team can walk you through the correct settings and help you get both devices working seamlessly without having to switch cables or risk your current setup. It's a much easier process than you might think, and we want to ensure you can enjoy your Blu-ray movies. You can connect with them directly at this link: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=tv.

Finally, we hear your comments about the sound quality. Many TVs today, both LED and OLED, are designed to be thin, which can sometimes impact the built-in speaker performance compared to older, thicker models. We're sorry that the sound quality wasn't what you expected and that you feel the need to purchase a soundbar. Your feedback on this is incredibly valuable, as it helps us understand the importance of sound as a standalone feature.

Thank you again for your valuable insights and for your recommendation, despite your challenges. We are committed to using feedback like yours to improve our products and services.

Best regards, Gus, Sony Social Media Team Sony_US

Top Tier OLED offering from SONY

Top tier OLED in SPADES. Sony engineered an impeccable TV with the Bravia 8. Considered their upper mid tier OLED offering behind their top tier (and most expensive) A95L, this set still holds its own. The color palette and contrasts are absolutely brilliant. The user interface is fluid and butterery smooth. Vast improvement over their previous generations. Great pairing with today's next gen consoles, specifically the PS5. The gaming display options and customization is on par with other OLED manufacturers and is a seamless pairing with a Sony PS5, naturally. My only two knocks that may be a factor for others is the screen nits (brightness) is a tad on the darker end compared to other OLEDs. That being said, after customizing the brightness and display settings while not diminishing the picture quality was easy enough to address this. However, using this TV during the day with a lot of natural sunlight might be too much to overcome for even the most astute at adjusting display settings. I use it in a bedroom with curtains so not much of an issue there. The other thing to consider is only two available (out of the four equipped) HDMI 2.1 ports. A lot of similar priced OLED sets from manufacturers give you four HDMI 2.1 ports. Not an issue if you only plan to use one next gen console and a sound system. If you want to connect multiple consoles or devices then this may not be the best choice for you. Those are the only two minor knocks against this TV that may not even be knocks or concerns for many others depending on where you use it and what you connect to it. Overall, fantastic OLED and could not be happier with this purchase!

Apps load quickly, the interface is clean and easy to navigate, and voice control works like a charm. I was able to set it up in minutes and customize it exactly how I like. Streaming, gaming, watching sports—this TV handles it all effortlessly. If you're looking for a TV that combines stunning visuals, smart technology, and premium sound in one sleek package—this is it. Worth every penny!

So on Black Friday weekend I made kind of an impulse buy after a friend said they were getting a new TV. I thought - this is something I've been wanting to do for a long time.. so I went to Best Buy and purchased a lower level 55" Samsung. After thinking about it I decided to upgrade and was talked into a Hisense ULED. After getting it setup at home I could not get it to look right no matter what settings I adjusted. Everything was too bright, cloudy angle viewing, I just wasn't happy. I then returned it and went for the Sony Bravia 8 OLED and glad that I did. The sound was better, the viewing angle is clearer, and the colors are much better without all that extra unrealistic brightness. And for my general purposes no sound bar is needed. The Sony was quite a bit more expensive but well worth it. The only thing was you will need patience to set it up. It took some time and I actually had to call Sony for help - maybe you will be faster than I with this. The Hisense was much quicker and easier. However, if you are anything like me and dislike unrealistic skin tones on people's faces, nature colors, and appreciate rich natural looking colors with clean side viewing.. get this Sony - it's well worth it!

Excellent color, contrast, deep blacks, and Sonys seem to last forever. The Sony that this one replaced was 14-years old and still working. It was just not 4k.
