One issue that we have had is the tv turning itself on in the middle of the night with no interaction on our part. We haven’t figured this out yet, but suspect it may have something to do with software updates. The Google tv interface is somewhat lacking. Things like the YouTube app will sometimes bug out and play when it shouldn’t. We have also needed to log into the same apps over and over again…such as Apple TV, HBO and VRV. Bottom line - I would happy recommend this tv if you are shopping for this size and price. The image quality is amazing. It was the perfect upgrade from our 10+ year old 40” plasma.

In the past I have used streaming boxes such as Roku but I decided to use the TV’s software which is Google TV and it works great.

Unreliable Sony 55”

My experience with it has been worse than my two older Samsungs. The Sony has the worse interface I’ve ever experienced. It regularly loses internet connection. Lately, in less than two years, the panel is showing signs of being bad. The screen has gone black while watching football and basketball games with a strip of light that changes colors along the left edge. It still has sound and will show show channel infor when I push the back button. I’ve tried turning if off and back on with no luck. The next day after missing a good game, it works fine. That’s when I really want to toss it out. I want to invite my buddies over to watch a game, but I dare not.

And my Sony Bravia XR A80J OLED 55" TV is everything that I had hoped for! The picture is fantastic. There are several picture modes to pick from. I read different posts recommending one or another, or even going to the custom mode and make different setting changes. Some even suggested having it professionally calibrated. They pretty much always said to not pick the Vivid setting. Well, I do keep mine set to the Vivid setting. The colors are bright and beautiful and love it, especially when I am watching a channel that is showing Christmas lights and ornaments, etc.

Love this TV

I love that I control all my devices cable, Nvidia shield, Bose sound bar with same Sony control.. the only complaint I have is I wish Sony would've included the remote that comes with the AJ90.. It is backlit so it's easier to see at night.. I ended up buying one on eBay.. much better then original.. but original control does samething except no back light.. besides that great TV.. best I've ever known..

I was able to add additional channels and use our digital antennae. Easy to change between apps. Unfortunately, I was never able to get the apple tv app to work.
