I do dislike the bloatware in the form of the Bravia gift app, but disabling it is pretty simple. Not the best remote either for anything besides youtube or disney plus. Otherwise completely flawless purchase. No buyers regret yet!

I have been buying Sony TV's for the last 25 years. Bought the Sony Bravia xr oled to replace my old Sony (still working that I gave to a friend). No problems setting up. I put a replacement center mounting stand on that swivels so I can attach inputs easier. The picture quality and sound are outstanding . I highly recommend .

And iv watch allot of videos about this TV. I was playing the wait game until something new comes out but I went ahead and purchase it. And I'm not disopointed. Iv been missing out. The tv shows really cirps and the deep blacks makes color pops out. More. I recommend buying. only regret is not living somewhere we're I have space for the 65" I'll forever say wish I gotten the bigger one

Great replacement for aging plasma

The picture shows deep contrast and high detail. This sits in a room with south facing room and we've had no issue with glare or lack of brightness. I am coming from a Panasonic plasma and this resolves SD to 4K footage cleanly. Very pleased with the viewing angle too - major factor in going with OLED over LED. Also glad the settings allow you to turn off motion smoothing to avoid soap opera effect.

Sony Never Disappoints

Beautiful colors, responsive load times on all apps, and enjoy Google TV interface since I already have an NVIDIA Shield in the bedroom TV. What surprised me the most was the amazing sound that comes from the device, incredible for TV speakers even though my home theater setup on the unit is still the best experience. My only reason to deduct a star was the lack of a backlit remote which should come with a TV at this price point. Sony has never let me down and this unit so far continues in the Sony tradition. Great install and some new cabling in home from the Best Buy team.

I would recommend all buyers of this model ,and others of similar quality, to take it home and listen to the sound before jumping into a sound bar. The sound is actually good from the TV alone.

Admittedly the resolution of this OLED is better than the 15-year old 720p set it replaced, but so many other features were a surprise and disappointment. Crucially, it is not possible to change the aspect ratio on most programs, despite the fact Sony recommends employing this feature to avoid OLED burn-in. This goes for built-in applications like Youtube and Amazon Prime, and also for Criterion Channel (haven’t tried Netflix yet). So not great for someone who watches a lot of films with black bars. So far, the aspect ratio adjustment has only worked for my Blu-ray player. And motion blur is surprisingly much worse than what I was used to. A pan of a brick wall in the film "Undine" was unnerving, though this could have been due to the streaming service. I played around with the adjustments to no avail. However, the sound is quite good, so I’m happy on this front. The dialogue enhancing feature doesn’t seem to do much though. The remote is poorly designed, at least for the buttons I use frequently like “mute” and “settings," made worse by no backlight. Finally, I’m not even getting the crisp resolutions and imaging this set is capable of because of lousy streaming speeds in my neighborhood. I will say the blacks are truly amazing. As for my DVD collection, I need to upgrade to a better HDMI cable before I can assess this. Standard DVDs look grainy, worse than on the recycled 720p. Plus, even with motion smoothing off, the soap opera effect prevailed and seemed heightened by the Sony’s sound positioning feature (e.g., the sound of footsteps seem to emanate from their image location). In all, after a long wait and attempt to upgrade to nearly the best technology a cinephile might want, I’ll live with it. If my plasma had been 1040p, I’d rue the day. Now I only wish I’d purchased a cheaper model due to the fact burn-in will reduce longevity of this set. I can hope my neighborhood gets better wireless service before the set degrades. And I can pin my hope on micro-LEDs in the future.

You can change the aspect ratio depending on the content/source that you're watching. But, it also entirely depends if the source of your content allows you to do so. Sometimes, content will lock the aspect ratio as their content is meant to be watched.
Also the Wide mode settings aren't available during a 4K playback from an external device such as a Blu-ray Disc™ player, game console, etc.
If you connect an external device or video source to an A/V receiver that has 4K Pass-Through feature.
Make sure to connect the external device directly to your TV.
If you stream an app and then press the WIDE button, the TV displays Feature not available.
This is normal operation.
Change the aspect ratio on the app's settings.
Most applications don't have an option to adjust aspect ratio.
With regards to burn-in issues, to protect your TV screen, avoid using images that may cause image retention. The good news is that we have taken steps to protect the TV screen from image retention like Pixel Shift and Panel Refresh found within the TV settings.
If there's pixelation or motion blur on the TV, you can set Motionflow to Off.
