Admittedly the resolution of this OLED is better than the 15-year old 720p set it replaced, but so many other features were a surprise and disappointment. Crucially, it is not possible to change the aspect ratio on most programs, despite the fact Sony recommends employing this feature to avoid OLED burn-in. This goes for built-in applications like Youtube and Amazon Prime, and also for Criterion Channel (haven’t tried Netflix yet). So not great for someone who watches a lot of films with black bars. So far, the aspect ratio adjustment has only worked for my Blu-ray player. And motion blur is surprisingly much worse than what I was used to. A pan of a brick wall in the film "Undine" was unnerving, though this could have been due to the streaming service. I played around with the adjustments to no avail. However, the sound is quite good, so I’m happy on this front. The dialogue enhancing feature doesn’t seem to do much though. The remote is poorly designed, at least for the buttons I use frequently like “mute” and “settings," made worse by no backlight. Finally, I’m not even getting the crisp resolutions and imaging this set is capable of because of lousy streaming speeds in my neighborhood. I will say the blacks are truly amazing. As for my DVD collection, I need to upgrade to a better HDMI cable before I can assess this. Standard DVDs look grainy, worse than on the recycled 720p. Plus, even with motion smoothing off, the soap opera effect prevailed and seemed heightened by the Sony’s sound positioning feature (e.g., the sound of footsteps seem to emanate from their image location). In all, after a long wait and attempt to upgrade to nearly the best technology a cinephile might want, I’ll live with it. If my plasma had been 1040p, I’d rue the day. Now I only wish I’d purchased a cheaper model due to the fact burn-in will reduce longevity of this set. I can hope my neighborhood gets better wireless service before the set degrades. And I can pin my hope on micro-LEDs in the future.

You can change the aspect ratio depending on the content/source that you're watching. But, it also entirely depends if the source of your content allows you to do so. Sometimes, content will lock the aspect ratio as their content is meant to be watched.
Also the Wide mode settings aren't available during a 4K playback from an external device such as a Blu-ray Disc™ player, game console, etc.
If you connect an external device or video source to an A/V receiver that has 4K Pass-Through feature.
Make sure to connect the external device directly to your TV.
If you stream an app and then press the WIDE button, the TV displays Feature not available.
This is normal operation.
Change the aspect ratio on the app's settings.
Most applications don't have an option to adjust aspect ratio.
With regards to burn-in issues, to protect your TV screen, avoid using images that may cause image retention. The good news is that we have taken steps to protect the TV screen from image retention like Pixel Shift and Panel Refresh found within the TV settings.
If there's pixelation or motion blur on the TV, you can set Motionflow to Off.

Seamless streaming from your favorite apps. The picture is next level. Watching NFL on this is truly a treat. My parents needed something that fit in their entertainment center, & this fit perfectly. The build of the tv is sturdy for such a thin screen. Set up was a breeze. Wifi connects easily everytime I turn it on.

Bright colors pop on this screen and blacks are black. OLED technology is such an improvement over LED. The unit was easy to attach to a wall mount. When we turned on the set, it was easy to manipulate the set up menu. We are not using the sound bar that was needed on our previous Sony LED model. This is a winner......

Very easy setup & Amazing picture right out of the box, Always been a Sony fan and only brand purchased since 2007 (which still works great). Having cut the cord in 2018 this TV has the NextGen ASTC 3.0 tuner & the picture quality is fantastic watching OTA content. All in all when comparing other brands this TV checked all the boxes.

The Google TV operating system provides a fairly intuitive layout for live channels, and I used it with YouTube TV which is integrated into the remote control and works with the remote control natively. Apple home kit is also built in which allows use with apple Homepod speakers resulting in a super viewing experience.

This 55" Sony OLED TV is fantastic. Is it perfect? No. There is always room for improvement like all other electronics. This TV's pros definitely make up for its cons. I was torn between this and the LG C1 OLED TV but I ultimately decided to go with the Sony Bravia OLED because of it's picture and sound quality. Based on my research, this TV is one of the best out in the market now in terms of picture and sound quality. The speakers are behind the screen and so it fires audio towards the audience. It also gives a directional sound effect which is cool especially when watching things or playing games with directional sound effects. The processor of this TV is top-notch. The upscaling ability is fantastic and 4K UHD content simply looks amazing on this TV set. The super slim design is gorgeous. If watching movies / TV shows is what you use your TV for the most part, then this is THE TV set for you. I like the fact that I has eArc and HDMI 2.1 ports. Does it have as many HDMI 2.1 ports compared to the LG C1 TV? No. However, for most homes, this TV has enough special ports to fulfill your needs. I highly recommend this TV set to anyone looking for that much awaited TV set upgrade. If your space and your budget allows, the bigger screens of this same Sony Bravia model are awesome! If you pair this TV with a Dolby Atmos surround sound system, it will be truly like having your own movie theater at home!
