The sound is also excellent even without a separate sound bar. The apps we use on this smart TV work seamlessly. Steamed movies are sharp, and flow smoothly with no noticeable delay when connected to fios. This is the best TV we have ever owned. When the price dropped the week after we bought it, at my request Best Buy credited us for the difference without delay or making us jump through hoops. I strongly recommend both this Sony set and Best Buy. The only negative was that, either because Best Buy sells so many TVs or because they are short on installation techs, the earliest installation date we could obtain was more than two weeks after the date of our purchase.

I no longer miss my Panasonic plasma. Black levels to die for, color reproduction, and great sound for such a thin unit. Not one regret in buying this tv.

Fantastic OLED TV

Great picture and sound. The adjustable legs are great. I have it set-up for a future sound bar rather than the lower set-up. The picture is amazing. I watched the new DUNE movie and used my Sony A/V (older system) and it was amazing. Similar to the movie theatre. I selected the Sony over the other leading OLED TV due to the Sony's better out to the box picture and the Sony's Next Gen 3.0 OTA tuner that supports future 4K broadcasting. One thing I'm not crazy about is the Sony remote. It is large and yet the buttons are tiny. Also it does not have backlighting. I knew this was a negative, but still opted to purchase this TV for the other positives. I have no regrets buying this great TV.

Easy to navigate and hook up. Have a Sony Bravia now which was a top brand n model at the time and still works perfectly and was moved to another room…20 yrs old!

Considered going with LG with all the Bravia complaints, but didn't like the interface so we got this A80J and purchased the Protection Plus plan direct from Sony. As expected, the picture is wonderful, noticed a slight improvement from the A8F. It's now Google TV, not Android. Not sure if the OS is technically different, but it's not nearly as glitchy now as the A8F was in the beginning, plus bricking itself. I docked a star because the VESA mount holes in the back are slightly askew and one hole is almost 1/8" lower than the other making the TV sit crooked on the wall, about 1/2" difference from one side to the other. It's mounted a few inches over our fireplace mantle so it makes it more obvious. This is the same mount we've used for the previous 2 TVs which didn't have this problem. We wedged a sliver of wood under one side of the mount hook so now it's 1/4" crooked. Hopefully this one doesn't brick itself too, but if it does, fingers-crossed that Sony's Protection Plus stands behind their coverage because there is no authorized Sony repair center in my area. The A8F went to e-waste.

The Vesa Hole Piattern of the XR55A80J is 11 3/4 x 11 3/4 (300 x 300 mm) and the recommended VESA mount is SU-WL855. It is difficult for Sony or any other manufacturer to quote the life expectancy for a produc, we also hope that your TV last longer than the previous model. Certain variables, such as the amount of use (or lack thereof) a product receives and the environmental conditions in which a product is being used, play a part in the life expectancy of a product. Please be assured we take this very seriously and continuously strive to improve our products.

One More HDMI 2.1 Port Please

Sony OLEDs are so much farther ahead of the competition in picture quality due to their custom picture processing. The Bravia XR core does a truly spectacular job delivering accurate colors with an impressive HDR color gamut. The acoustic panel is my personal favorite feature of the TV providing soundbar like sound quality thanks to the actuators and woofer that vibrate the glass of the unit to reproduce sound. If HDMI 2.1 inputs matter to you, this TV only has only two. The other two only support HDMI 2.0. If eARC support matters to you, this TV only has one HDMI input that supports it, in which happens to be one of those two HDMI 2.1 ports.

The picture color is so real. The animals comes to life. This tv has a Cognitive Processor XR, optimizes thousands of on-screen lifelike pictures. Includes a build in Accoustic Surface Audio+ sound. So I did not need to buy sound bar. Plus this model, gives you 5 free movies to watch on the stream app of Bravia XR OLED. It’s the 2021 model. Plus this model has free streaming on Sony on the Bravia app for a year. Hope Bravia extends to us. Samsung never gave me free movies. Thanks Geek Squad for setting up my new tv today.
