Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am certainly not an expert on television, to be honest this is the first new one and I’ve bought in quite some time, but it exceeds my expectation in absolutely every area, sounds spectacular, I have speakers all around this room and I haven’t use them since I bought the Sony, everything that I use it with is effortless, are use my Sony earphones from time to time, everything with one click, but it is probably the picture quality the blows me away, it is in a room with windows all the way around, this is always been a problem before, not anymore, it’s only 55 inches but it is spectacular

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When shopping for a new 55" tv I knew I wanted an OLED for the improved contrast and overall picture quality (my previous tv was a 10 year old 40" Sony LCD model 40BX420). I considered the less expensive LG however the picture quality of Sony's XR-A80J rated higher on most all categories and I was not disappointed in my choice. The picture quality is exceptional, even at the default settings. And I was also extremely surprised and impressed with the audio. I had intended to use my older Sony HT-CT150 sound system (sound bar and sub-woofer) but the XR A80J easily outperformed it. I would not hesitate to recommend this tv.

Amazing OLED TV

I already had experience with the 65" version. The 55" version is just as good and fits perfectly in a medium sized family room. Deep blacks, excellent HDR, very good sound and a great user interface via Google. I kept looking at other televisions but this is what is enjoyed about the 65" versions and what made me go with the 55" model for a room where a larger model wouldn't be appropriate. My PS5 works great on the 65" model so if you're looking at this for gaming just go ahead and get one.

But now that we’ve owned it for about 5 months it is quitting on us. It was easy to set up, beautiful picture, awesome sound! However, now it shuts off on its own in the middle of a movie, it will freeze on a black screen when I pause (and not for an extended time, go grab a drink come back and it’s frozen). The talk remote feature is cool except it barley works, half the apps it will not recognize. I’m afraid that this 1800 dollar TV we purchased not even 6 months ago will have to be replaced. Extremely frustratedly

The video is sharp and bright and allows easy, subtle adjustments to achieve precise customer preferences. The low price was definitely a driver, i. e., value for the money. Finally, the extremely thin depth (under 1/2 inch) around the top and two sides allowed us to recess the TV quite neatly against and into an over-the-fireplace box intended for a smaller TV. After much research this one checked all our boxes.

After a month of use I am sure I made the correct choice. Obviously the picture is amazing and the black levels are perfect. The real surprise for me is how wonderful the sound is. Sony has done a fabulous job. The light levels are absolutely great too. I am sure the newer models are even better. I have several TV’s but after watching this Sony for a while the others seem inferior in all respects.

It’s bright (for an OLED), it’s crisp, and the internal speakers sound great. However, setting it up with a Sony soundbar is nothing short of disastrous. LG has a much better interface and is way simpler.
