This TV is amazing. I'm not an AV geek or anything, but I do care about picture quality, and to my eyes, the picture quality is nothing short of breathtaking. The UI is also very usable and everything looks good; you don't even need an Apple TV. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase, Sony is the best.

This TV amazed my family and I. The picture quality is awesome. The only minor complaint is the remote that comes with this model. It's not backlit like the remote that comes with the A90J. Is it really that more expensive to not bundle the same backlit remote with the A80J? Anyway, you can't go wrong with this A80J model!

Easy to set up, size is good, picture quality is realistic.

The Sony OLED is the best picture I have ever seen on a TV. The color reproduction is extremally accurate. Amazing definition and detail. Picture almost looks 3D. Sound is better than most TV's, but I don't buy a TV for its sound. This is my 2nd one and will buy another when I need a new TV. You will love it!

I took the time to watch YouTube reviews before my purchase. After doing my homework I purchased the TV online and picked it up at the store. My first in person view wasn’t till I got it home. The family got real excited when they realized it’s a google smart TV. I have to say I am quite impressed myself. Picture quality is phenomenal.

My first OLED panel and love it! Have had many tvs from various brands however seems like I've been drawn to Sony lately and for good reason. Haven't had any issues with them so far. Got this tv on sale so makes it that much nicer!

Love this tv, perfect size, awesome color and sound.

Easy to set up and gorgeous picture. Only issue is it is hard to see the connections on the back when not mounted on a wall.

After researching, I made my choice with the a80j. I am very pleased with the quality of this television. I really enjoy the upscaling that the processor does. I live in an area with slower internet and I am very happy with the TV's ability to nearly reach 4k by upscaling.

After much debate we went with this TV because the specs are great and the picture is beautiful. We have a plasma from 2011 that we love and wanted the 'new plasma' OLED for it's longevity and quality. Sony is a trusted brand. So far we are more than happy with this TV!

The new pricing makes this TV a steal. The picture quality is excellent and the operating system is notably faster than my prior generation Sony (2 years older). I would definitely recommend a dedicated sound bar. The thinner TVs seem to give up a lot of sound quality.

So far so good, liking the OLD and the dark collars show definition. Takes some getting used too the new format but it seems xto work just fine. TV has come a long way from just changing channels. Streaming and on air looks good. Need to try a 4k movie next and gaming. Have not gotten that far yet.

This TV provides the most beautiful-looking visuals I’ve seen in a TV to date, and it was worth the $1500 I spent on it! Every movie I watch on this is a visual splendor and is boosted by intense sound, also the best sound I’ve heard from a TV. Top of the line TV for an awesome price!

Excellent image quality, sound is amazing no need for sound bar has amazing bass. The smart tv features are great very easy to use voice commands on remote to navigate to apps. Compared this tv and LG C1 in store and the A80J beat that tv in every thing I checked for.

After my son broke my last TV I decided to get the upgraded version of the one I had. This TV is amazing. The picture is awesome. nice and smooth. If you watch lots of TV this is a great investment. I can not comment on the sound quality as i have an external system. I use the optical out for my system.

The picture is great quality and we love the Pure Blacks and whites. It displays such an awesome picture when streaming and watching movies. We are not gaming on it but I’m sure it’s incredible for those who would ! The sound is good from the TV but we have a Sony Soundbar and it sounds awesome!!!

This Sony BRAVIA XR OLED Television exceeded all my expectations. What incredible picture quality and even fantastic built-in sound. This is a very reasonably priced television considering all the quality and features.

This was my first OLED and Sony TV. Now i know why I've stayed with Samsung LEDs over the past few years. I'm coming from a 2016 KS8000 Samsung TV and in many ways, this 2021 OLED doesn't even defeat that 5 year old TV and i will explain. First off, i did a ton of review and research with looking at different review sites, online forums, and seeing almost every video on the A80J. I never saw anyone emphasize how in every different app such as HBOMAX, Vudu, or Netflix, the picture mode gets restricted to either just Dolby Vision Bright, Dolby Vision Dark, or Vivid mode. If any movie says it's Dolby Vision supported, then the TV locks you into those 3 Modes and there is no way to get to use Standard Picture Mode while watching that movie or show (Standard Mode has the best picture quality with options enabled to edit brightness, contrast, and colors etc..). The problem with being forced to use Dolby Vision Modes or the Vivid Mode is that in DV, the picture quality drops immensely. The picture gets extremely dim and colors get extremely dull. Yes, you can edit this under Picture Settings but not without losing a lot of detail and vibrancy. Anyone who has an OLED will tell you to stay away from Vivid Mode because the contrast and brightness kills details and makes colors oversaturated and irregular. Again, editing all the Picture Settings under Vivid Mode cannot get you the best possible picture without irregularities and noticeable excessive whites and brightness. You would think that bringing down the Brightness while in Vivid Mode would help compensate for the immense vividness but no, it doesn't even do that without destroying picture quality. I spent 15 hours just watching different movies with different apps and was let down with how Sony restricts you into fighting to save adequate picture quality on Shows or Movies that use Dolby Vision. I tweaked every slider and option under the settings to see disappointing results. I can't believe this is a thing. Why didn't anyone call this out on their reviews? I expect some responses would be for me to pay for a professional TV calibration or download something like the Calman Bravia app to calibrate it myself. But i feel that i shouldn't have to drop more money to enhance picture quality after already spending over $1500 on the TV which should already come the superb hyped quality in itself. After all, its the TV or OS that's bringing the limitations And I don't feel comfortable having to use a 3rd party app that requires you to connect to an app proxy or network just to edit picture settings on my TV. And i specifically chose the A80J because it had the new Google operating system built in and it has all the apps i need. So using something like a Roku or streaming device seems redundant and unnecessary when the TV has it all and is actually really fast and snappy with it. I didn't buy this Smart TV so that i could then connect another Smart streaming device to it in order to watch movies that may look better on there. That just seems silly. What really took me back was watching the new Dune on HBOMAX. I was appalled on how the TV forces you into the Vivid or DV picture modes and how it kills the image quality. Nobody wants to watch a super dim movie with extremely dull colors that cannot be fully revived. I just can't believe that my 5 year old Samsung LED TV was able to play Dune that looked so much better than this new OLED set. I didn't think Dune could look so ugly with nasty color filters and weird dim overlays. I can tell you Sony or Google (for TV OS), that the picture quality of Dune on this TV is not what the director intended. You are doing a huge disservice to the people that made the movie and those who want to watch it on this OLED. Before buying this TV, i thought something like Dolby Vision was not going to be a gimmick and actually be something worth using but boy am i surprised. And don't even get me started with the Netflix Calibration mode. That mode is 10 times worse than the Dolby Vision and Vivid modes. I can say for sure that the Netflix Calibration Mode for watching Netflix is a gimmick and was something i did actually see other reviewers comment on about the same. The dimming and contrast is worse on there and more than an old vintage tube TV. One other big drawback for me on this TV is the fact that the Vudu app cannot play UHD 4k movies. It's restricted to HDX only and on top of that, the quality of any movie is like something of the 80s or 90s with bad judder and studder and camera shaking. I don't know if this is a limitation with the Google operating system or if this is the way Sony creates their TVs but this is just unacceptable. I have spent hundreds buying UHD movies and watched them on Vudu on my Samsung TV and now i can't do that on this OLED because the quality is horrendous. I actually connected my UHD Blu Ray player to the network for the first time and updated the firmware just for the sake of wanting to watch UHD Vudu/Fandango movies with superb picture quality. And to my surprise, my UHD BR player also has the exact same half baked Vudu app that doesn't offer the option to watch 4k movies that I've purchased over the years. Picture quality is laughable on that also. And why is that? It's because my UHD blu ray player is also a Sony brand. So yes, I've discovered over these past 24 hours that Sony, for whatever reason doesn't like Vudu and they have no intention of giving you the option to watch 4k movies with decent picture quality in that app. And i say that because my 3 or 4 year old blu ray player has had many years to get an update in order to just have 4k movies available and it hasn't so the expectation is that this TV app won't get the implementation either. And even if it does, I'm sure the Dolby Vision movies will lock you into the SlapYouInTheFace picture modes anyway. So that's literally hundreds of dollars down the drain for me with this OLED. Sony, i highly recommend that you connect with Vudu which is now Fandango and collaborate with them to improve the app on your products and have some adequacy in that aspect. I just can't believe that my 5 year old Samsung LED TV has a full functioning Vudu app where i can watch 4k movies that have excellent quality and this 2021 OLED can't even deliver the basics on that. Really?! I know i'm complaining rightnow but if anyone else cares about good picture quality without being restricted to limited modes and having a less than half baked Vudu app, try it out for yourself. Evidently i must be the only one that cares about adequacy because i don't recall anyone else commenting on this. There are many Dolby Vision movies and shows and the standard is becoming more universal so this problem is going to increase with this OLED. Sony and Google, please stop the picture mode restrictions on your TV apps. You are killing the quality that this TV could offer. Don't force customers into only using what you think is best for them. Leave options and freedom available! I see you now Sony, i really do. First, you release the PS5 with a mediocre UI, no expandable storage, no VRR support, delayed games etc...Then, you concurrently release new TV's and advertise ps5 gaming capabilities for them but then you don't even build VRR to be avaliable for those TVs until a year later via a firmware update. Now i personally experience a shortfall with your OLED TV because it has less options and quality than my 5 year old Samsung LED TV. Sporadic superb picture quality does not trump the overall user experience! That should tell you a lot Sony. It should tell you that you need to focus on meeting better expectations and adequacy on your own products! Dwindle down the hype and marketing because it doesn't amount to the real experience! Release products when they're truly ready and not when they need further updates just to meet sufficiency! These corporate patterns that you're dancing with can't stay hidden forever! And by the way, there is a common bug with the A80J where the TV kicks you out of apps when watching movies or shows. I duplicated this time and time again in Netflix and HBOMAX while adjusting picture settings while the shows are playing. The TV will randomly decide to close the app and redirects you back to the Home Screen. Other customers have posted about this issue online. The issue needs fixing. I don't know if i will keep this OLED because it's 5 years backwards and for my basic needs, it can't even meet adequate picture quality as described above. The Sound is good on this OLED and picture quality is excellent when not limited by the apps or TV (but limitations are often). I didn't realize how much Samsung is ahead of the game until now. I guess you just have to experience things for yourself in order to discover the truth. How ironic! For other reviewers out there, if you notice shortcomings, please post them aside from the sporadic hype. It could've saved me the hassle. Sad face!

I purchased this TV for my bedroom. Although larger than what i wanted, the additional features of the XR A80J made this the best purchase. The only thing i can think of that would make this perfect is if it had a remote with illuminated buttons.
