Total garbage. I’ve had two LG oleds and never had an issue with the picture. Questions you ask… burn in?… nope, the screen is actually turns completely green not fading green OR it displays a completely pixelated screen. Input issue?… nope, the issue is present on hdmi input devices And the on-device streaming such as netflix. Software?… nope up to date. I never write negative reviews but this one was worth warning others. You may want to look at another OLED option!

I have only owned this TV for 16 months and now have 2 vertical lines that will never go away and lucky for me I just barely missed the warranty period and now any necessary repairs will be on my dime. For the money I spent buying what I thought was a good product, I'm now wishing I had gone with a different brand that offers a quality product that will last.

    Sony TVs Highly Over Rated

My Best Buy in store sales and purchase experience was excellent. Delivery and installation was professional. Then with in a couple of weeks my new Sony began acting weird. Every fourth or fifth time the Sony wouldn’t sync up with my Visio sound bar or I would receive a Sony on screen message saying “switching to tv speakers”. Sound bar issues aside, every time I power on my new Sony OLED, it cycles through multiple screens showing the status of various tv settings, then usually a totally white screen, then it goes black for about 6 or 7 seconds, and finally displays the last cable channel watched. I have checked and rechecked all the tv settings numerous times and have unplugged and reconnected the AC to the Sony, the Visio sound bar and the Comcast Xfinity cable box numerous times. I’m a BB Total Tech member so I’m considering returning the tv prior to December 23rd. I’ve seen enough negative comments on the BB website about terrible Sony tech support and don’t intend to go down that rabbit hole.

Hi MichaelN, We regret to hear that you're having an issue with your TV. This is definitely not the experience we'd like you to have. We'd love to help you troubleshoot your problem and turn your experience around.

Is your soundbar connected to the TV using an optical or HDMI cable? Depending on your connection, please check the troubleshooting article below for more details:
      Optical: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/articles/00279503
      HDMI: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/articles/00279503

Is the TV software updated to version v6.6070? For more information, refer to How do I perform Firmware/ Software Updates for my Android TV or Google TV? article. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/articles/00119543

Resetting or Initializing the TV is also a recommendation. There are three different ways to reset your Android TV™ or Google TV™ depending on the issue you are experiencing:
Step 1 (Power Reset/Restart) is always recommended first as it can resolve many issues and doesn't affect saved information.
Step 2 (Factory Data Reset) is the next step and will erase all customer settings as it resets the TV to factory specifications.
Step 3 (Forced Factory Reset) is the final option and will also erase all customer settings as it resets the TV to factory specifications. Use this option when you can't access the TV through the menu, don't have a remote, or as otherwise specified.

A great TV with the best technology for movies

This is my first OLED TV and I am very happy with it. This technology offers the best black/white contrast which means that all colors not only will be accurate but punchy. All colors derivate from the combination of black and white, so having a perfect contrast between those two colors ( where black is real black and white is real white ), will make the rest of the colors super well defined, accurate, no edge leaking or distortion and very rich and punchy. The TV is very fast when accessing applications. My previos TV was the Sony A950H and in compare to this one, accessing Netflix is super fast. In relation to picture modes, I do use : - Standard for regular TV content - Custom for HD / UHD content ( like sports - Netflix, PRIME and blu ray via PS4 ). If I am watching sport, I switch manually to this mod but when switching to Netflix /PRIME, the TV will automatically switch to this mode if the content is in HD/UHD. Excellent. - Dolby Vision Dark in Netflix / PRIME for those kind of contents which are switched automatically by the TV if the content is on that mode. Do not get fooled by Dolby Vision Light cause it is darker than Dolby Vision Dark. I have not tried VIVID that much. This mode is super crispy, super punchy colors and very bright so for now, I am avoiding this mode till my TV reaches 500 hours of use at least. Brightness : remember this TV is not a QLED or LED TV and you must get use to this technology. In the beginning, it will look dark but your eyes will get use to as you continue watching it. After more than 100 hours of use, I can say that now, I consider this TV to be bright enough even when I have my living room windows open, like yesterday that I was watching NFL playoff games, so for an OLED TV, I can say the brightness is excellent. I am watching this TV in my living room with all windows closed when watching Netflix/PRIME or blu ray content. I kind of open up the windows a bit to watch regular TV and sport content and I am very satisfied with the result. If you want to watch your TV in a very bright room all kind of content, then I would not recommend this technology so the best would be QLED or regular LED TV. I bought a TV cover for this TV and anytime I am not watching it, I use that cover to protect it from dust. I also bought a remote control silicone cover protector for the remote which in my opinion should have had illuminated buttons as the A90J has and this is the only con that I can find. My TV is on a stand. I do not like a TV hanging from a wall at all, cause my eyes would have to go up instead keeping them at the same center-height my TV screen is when standing on a table ( watching it from my couch/recliner seat ). If you have a big sofa ( kind of half-moon type of sofa ), you should be able to watch this TV from all angles without any distortion at all. According to what I have investigated, the screen will not burn unless you leave it for a long period of time and every single day on the same screen and even though, it will take months before burning the screen, but I have my own rule for this TV only : I watch it no more than 4 hours and then I turn it off for 30 minutes and continue. I am not a regular TV content watcher. I watch my news in the Internet instead my TV so I am not watching regular TV content with logos in the screen that may contribute to burning my TV screen. I bought this TV exclusively to watch : Football, Soccer and Baseball, Netflix / PRIME movies and blu ray movies. I do not care about the rest, so by keeping my TV covered when I am not watching it, avoiding programs with permanent logos or bars on the screen and turning it off after 4 hours of use, I expect this TV to last a long time. Last but not the least, if you open the windows in the room where this TV is located, avoid the sunlight to fall directly on it and that is why I bought a TV cover cause when I am not watching it, I open up my living room windows. SOUND : I left this review to the last cause it is super important .... I do not need a sound bar. The max volume I have used so far, is 13 and the sound is super high and a very good sound. I am not saying that you could not add a sound bar to enhance the sound but in my opinion, you do not need it. I have had several TV and this one is the only one that has the better integrated speakers of all. It will not compare though to a real surround sound that allow you to hear even behind your ears whatever is going on but how much money it will cost to add a very good Sony sound bar ? Probably not less than $500, so if you have that extra money and a big room where you TV will be standing and you do not have neighbors that will complain about it, go for. Conclusion : Would I recommend it ? Absolutely !! Go for or if you can afford the A90J, by all means open up your wallet. If you are like me that you watch only movies in a dim environment, this is the best TV you can get now. The A90J is more expensive and my TV, the A80j uses the same chip the A90J does so the difference between both did not justify for me to pay more money. One thing I forgot to mention : I do not play games in console but my PC so I cannot give you my opinion about how good your game will look in this TV but I am super confident that they will look amazing.

Bought this on a whim shortly after getting my Xbox series X cause I wanted the 120 Hz rate for the console and it has been worth it for that alone. However after tinkering with settings and watching some online videos on how to fine tune these, I can't get enough of this TV. Invested in high speed internet and HDMI cables to optimize everything to its full potential and it was worth it. My TV display looks like what you see on display in the store. Even have subscribed to 4/8K HDR channels on YouTube just to sit back and enjoy this TV. Set up with my Sony receiver and it's like watching movies in a theater.

I've had the TV for a month now, so I thought I would pass along my experience. The picture is outstanding! I've only been using a soundbar and subwoofer, so I cannot comment on the built in speakers. Over the past month there have been 4 or 5 times when the TV has frozen, not during a program but when changing apps. I don't know if this is the fault of the TV or the apps. I shut the TV off for a minute and restart it, and everything works fine. The remote is overly long with tiny buttons, and really doesn't speak of high quality. Functions well enough though. Overall I am super happy with my purchase and am constantly in awe of the great picture! Hopefully the freezing up issue will be fixed with future software updates.

This Sony OLED has great colors and picture quality. The Google TV features save your passwords through your Google account making all apps easy to set up. The 120hz console gaming is a huge +. As with most OLED, place it in a darker room. The unique speaker system works well for vocals but definitely need a speaker set up if you want big audio.

Folks who have never used an OLED TV will be amazed at the contrast since an OLED produced true black - that is table stakes. What most people do not know is that LG makes the majority of the world's TV-sized OLED panels, so even though this is a Sony TV the panel is made by LG. Even so there are minor differences is picture quality between Sony and LG since they use their own processing of the input signal. I have an LG C9 as well, and would be hard pressed to see any difference. What does differ is the software, Sony uses Google TV and LG uses WebOS. Without getting into technicalities, I actually prefer the LG software, for me it has been more stable in terms of running various streaming apps. Since Google TV is Android at its core there's potentially a larger pool of apps available, but in practice all the major streaming providers are available on both. Sony throws in some credits for movies on their own Bravia Core service, but that's more of a showcase than anything else. In summary, excellent picture quality but sometimes let down by its software. In any case a huge step up from an LCD TV.

This is one of the best TVs I have ever owned! This is my first ever OLED TV and let me tell you I can't go back to non OLEDs. It works best in a dark room and movies are amazing. The color accuracy is top notch and the motion is perfect. Gaming is seamless as well with the PS5, and the TV remote even works to control the PS5 if you double it as an entertainment interface. The default google interface is also really smooth. I have owned this TV for a year and a half now and I have had no issues. I game on it often and watch multiple movies/shows, as well as watch football games and I have had no burn ins or even signs of burn ins. The TV is amazing!

I had an LED tv before I purchased this one. I always loved how bright it was, UNTILL I got to witness the OLED. The blacks are inky black. Colors still pop. Brightness is good. If your watching a movie at night with the lights out, and the movie goes into a scene such as a pitch black room with a character holding a flashlight, the OLED is so good that you will only see the flashlight and whatever the light is shining on. You literally cannot see the edges of the tv and it will literally look like that flashlight is coming out of your wall. I will never watch anything on anything other than an OLED again.

Amazing Television. Excellent blacks (of course), color accuracy, motion handling and great 1080p upconversion. Sound from television is surprisingly good. Sony makes it easier to dive into advanced settings to dial in your picture. Only nitpick…my television will occasionally say it has lost Wi-Fi signal when the unit is 10 feet from an AC router and every other wireless device is just fine. It’s a non-factor because I have it set up as a basic television. Got this on clearance for a steal and was as good (or better) than the A80K.

Depending on how particular you are about sound quality, you may not need a sound bar. Google TV is ok, but I like that Sony allows you to set up the TV as a basic set without utilizing Google TV. Remote is ok, but I like the LG remote much better. This TV at half price is a steal!!!

I would recommend this to a friend
