Screen shuts off when you watch or won’t turn on

I watch tv and the screen will randomly shut off. You can still hear the sound, but you can’t see anything. At various times, the screen either won’t turn on or shut down while I’m watching it. I’ve already had 1 replaced and the second one is doing the exact same thing. This has all happened within 3 weeks of my initial purpose. As you can see in my photo, you can see a small sliver of static on the left side of the screen. I would post a video with sound but it doesn’t allow that

Network Card Connectivity Issues Prevent 4K Viewin

Hard wired ethernet will not play more than 360p. 480p drops 10% of frames. Wireless connection shows similar issues. Frontier Fios 500/500 shows 480/512. TV shows 598Kbps on YouTube Stats for Nerds. Interupted audio and video bufferingWill return and replace this unit in the hope that this issue is not systemic with the latest Sony product line. No way to determine connection speed in Sony menus. 4k upscaling is not evident while watching OTA or cable. Rather disappointed in the performance as 4K rendering is not possible in my home. Geek squad has visited the problem and noted that it is nit a network problem. It appears thst Sony may have a bad batch of network cards or mainboard connectivity issues. May have to look at Samsung if the next replacement units have similar issues.

Posted .Hi rcflyer, We are sorry to hear you are having issues with your XR55A80K OLED. This is not the experience we had hoped for. Couple of things to make sure of. 1. Do you have the latest update for the A80K? 2. Have you tried to master reset the tv if the update didn’t solve your problem? If not have you done a soft reset? Holding down the power button for 3-5 seconds when the tv is on will bring up 2 options Cancel/Restart. If you select restart this will shut down the tv completely(without erasing any settings) and then bring the tv back up in a clean state and close all apps open at the time. This is like shutting down a computer and restarting. Also are you using any kind of VPN on your network? VPN will slow bandwidth down. The network card on the X80K is a 10/100 speed. Which is more than enough to handle 4K HDR playback. The Wireless adaptor is also rated for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, which should handle 4K HDR content as well.

Should have bought my first choice...

I have to turn the TV off, then back on again to reset.

Burn In terrible

Sony will not warranty cover the problem. First and last Sony TV. Never before had burn in with flat screen Samsung TVs for 25+ years.

The XR processor really does its magic, especially with 4K content. The Google TV interface is smooth, intuitive, and easy to navigate. Voice search with Google Assistant works flawlessly, and I love the seamless integration with all my favorite streaming apps. Setup was a breeze, and the minimalist design looks sleek in my living room. Sound quality is surprisingly robust for a flat-screen TV, thanks to the Acoustic Surface Audio+ tech. You can really feel the action coming from the screen itself—no soundbar needed (though it does pair well with one if you want an even bigger audio punch). If you're looking for a high-end OLED with smart features and premium performance, the A80K is absolutely worth it. Sony knocked it out of the park with this one!

Consistent with the quality and performance I usually get from all my Sony devices. The only issue I have is that game mode with VRR turned on reduces the quality of the picture during my video games. If I turn off VRR and use Dolby vision instead the quality becomes much better, but not sure if it supports the higher 60fps or 120fps of the video game. Hoping that the next wave of Sony oleds have 4 hdmi 2.1 ports, and not just two. Those two things aside, it's the best TV you can buy in this range. I bought a 55 for my bedroom and I'm likely going to buy a 77 for the living room this week. If you're one of those people worried about oleds not being bright enough, I can assure you this TV will not disappoint you at all. Thing gets crazzzzy bright. I'd recommend.

While the A80K features 4K 120Hz and Dolby Vision, this TV does not support Dolby Vision at 120 Hz at the same. But it does support VRR and 120Hz.
And please make sure set the HDMI signal format to "Enhanced". To change the HDMI signal format setting, press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Channels & Inputs] — [External inputs] — [HDMI signal format] — [Enhanced format]. Great TV, has some flaws

OLED Perfect Blacks and near instant response is a wonder to game on, even if it's not as fast as LG. Android TV is nice but can be a bit slow on this set since Sony is still using the same Mediatek SOC. Being Limited to two HDMI 2.1 ports is a bummer as well but I don't really need more than two so not a big deal for me, but if you own both a PS5 and an Xbox or PC, this might not be your first choice. Great TV, even if it's a little flawed. As for why I said not to update the firmware. I have an open case with Sony support due to an issue with 4K 120Hz HDR Games causing the TV to display a black screen mid-game for a few seconds. This seems to be widespread as I have seen other complaints but it was working fine prior to update.

True colors

Shame about not having a built-in filmmaker mode (that I at least havent found) but still pretty good. Doesn't oversaturate everything like previous Samsung did. The magic of OLED in the dark is just incredible. Makes the darks pure dark.Works seamlessly with the PS5 too. Google TV OS is fantastic, very user friendly, and intuitive with Google Assistant. I'd say a solid 8.7/10

After stopping by a local Best Buy and viewing what was available, this became the leader of the pack. The colors look phenomenal, and the blacks are incredible. I paired it with a nice Panasonic 4k player (which i aldo bought at Best Buy) and together movies have never looker better. And regarding gaming, it has no issues when my PS5 is outputting at 120hz.
