I purchased this TV. two years ago because at the time it was the highest rated 55 inch tv. The picture quality is good but everything else is terrible. I have had nothing but problems since purchase. The operating system is full of glitches ; sometimes the sound won't work so you have to turn the tv on and off several times before it will work , The start up screen freezes and once again you have to unplug the tv and try to get it to come on. If you are streaming something from bluetooth from your phone, laptop, or tablet it never works correctly either; it either won't connect , sound won't work , or won't stay connected. Total piece of garbage. I have always had good luck with Samsung but decided to try Sony for a change and it was the wrong decision. I will replace this tv with a Samsung very soon.

I looked at some You Tube videos for advice. I prefer the "Standard" setting for overall picture with some adjustments for several other settings. SONY has a great track record for quality, and I believe their support is very good as well. I very much like the OLED as well since it provides great contrast and color richness.

OLED burn in.

Sony does not cover burn in. They will tell you it's image retention. This is the second consecutive tv that did this. I had to purchase this one and was given a two year warranty due to the failure of the first. Sony will tell you it's image retention and your warranty means nothing. It's very frustrating knowing you babied your tv due to the potential of burn in, it happens anyway and you're stuck with it.

Almost immediately following the expiration of the warranty the tv began to randomly go black. Occasionally there was about 1/4 inch of picture running vertically down the left side, but mostly it was black with perfect sound. The geek squad said Sony knows about this and is working on a fix. They have been working on this for months and it is still "under investigation." Sony suggests unplugging and rebooting the tv every single time it does it, which is several times a day. The clear message I got from Sony support was that they were working on it, and until they get around to fixing it you are on your own. This is so not cool. Would NEVER recommend to a friend.

Posted .Hi Dunc, Thank you for choosing and purchasing our XR55A80K 4K HDR OLED Google TV. This is definitely not the news that we would like to hear. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience.
Great news is that the TV does have Google Chromecast abilities built in. If you have security cameras and want access to them through the TV, please see your manufacturer instructions for those products for setup. Example, Google Nest will run on google home app, Alexa will run on that app installed on the TV through the Google Play store but needs to be setup properly on your mobile device and tv app first.
