Always been a Sony fan since the Trinitron days. Sony delivers with the Bravia XR OLED picture quality (I can see all the face wrinkles), Brightness (many options), and Sound. This flat panel display costs more upfront but I like watching movies and sports so this flat panel display is a good investment long term.

This set offers an awesome picture and other features. For my needs, it's excellent. I have Playstation 5 also attached to HDMI 4. The television will turn itself on if I turn on the playstation, or if I power up the playstation while watching television, I'm afforded the option of switching the the gaming console. Though it be a little older, I would earnestly have gotten the A90J, however, when I purchased this, the A90J was out of stock. I would have wanted that set for the increased brightness in highly lighted rooms, but I am not regretful. The sound from the set alone is awesome, the picture is to die for. I highly recommend this set to anyone who desires a state of the art OLED television and who have 1 gaming console and sound bar or audio system For multiples, I'd recommend an LG product. I also purchased this set at a time when it went on sale 55" and got it for 1299... Wow and wow......

I spent some time researching the technology involved with new TVs (I'm somewhat of a nerd) and found that OLED is the best choice, although more expensive. But this Sony came through with remarkable quality. I had to make a few tweaks to the color balances but after I finished I couldn't be happier with the results. You know when you walk into Best Buy and see those fantastic images on the screens? But you figure you won't see the same results at home because they're using some sort of extra good quality video - but no... it looks just as good as those demos. Blacks are truly black and whites are pure white. I really couldn't be happier. (Well, I could, but let's not go there)

Best purchase of my life. Colors pop, true black, anti glare, audio is sound-bar like. I was blown away the moment I hit the power button. Every time I turn it on I’m studying it’s perfection. I’ve showcased this tv to all my friends and family. This is the best thing until idk…3D hologram tv. Select process: In my select I walked the store for hours with looking at name tags. I immediately identified this TV’s as the best visual display and audio in the room from afar. Also it was #1 in my redundant online elimination process prior my in-person test.

The picture quality on this TV is absolutely stunning. They also make it really easy to set up with your PS5 and it's made PS5 gaming in general just a more enjoyable experience. You could use the remote that comes with the TV to control the PS5 too. So if you're using your PS5 to watch any streaming service, or a DVD/Blu ray then you don't need to even bother using the confusing controller. The thing that I'm not a fan of is a problem most smart TVs have and thats the UI can get really slow and unresponsive, but just restart the TV when that happens and it works just fine

Excellent picture, colors are accurate and vibrant. Motion is smooth. Full 120hz support. Google TV os has a solid app selection. Interface is responsive and loads quickly. Does suffer in a couple small ways. Suffers from early oleds low brightness. Also uses an IR remote, which can make consistantly interfacing with the TV while using a sound bar a bit difficult. Also the stock speakers are .. well they are built in TV speakers. Serviceable, but at this price point I'm assuming most will buy a sound bar. Overall this is a fantastic TV with a couple small gripes overall. Would recommend heavily as long as it's going in a fairly low light setting. However do yourself a favor and get a quality sound bar/ speaker setup .

I recently purchased the Sony 55" Class BRAVIA XR A80K 4K HDR OLED Google TV to replace and old Samsung Plasma television that was no longer working. The Plasma was an outstanding television that had an excellent picture. That said, I have been very impressed with the picture quality of the Sony OLED. I am still making adjustments to find the best picture combination but so far so good. My only biggest disappointment with this purchase is the extremely cheap and basic remote control that comes with this set. At this price point, I was expecting a remote control with great functionality.

Plenty bright enough for my medium light room. Fantastic display. A5000 sound bar doesn't fit under the 55” model but you can rest it on the feet and it doesn't interfere with the remote, so not really a problem.

Beautiful picture, can be tweaked to anyway you like your color, brightness and the picture remains beautiful. Only dislike is that when placing sound into lower range there is a sharper cut off between 2 of the lower numbers to point where you struggle to hear, then next higher number too loud. That maybe just me as my hearing is very sensitive.

Waited a bunch of years and upgraded from the Sony A1E and this is just leaps and bounds better picture in every way. For an OLED panel its is extremely bright and keeps up pretty well for Dolby and HDR content. Its okay for gaming as well. I really wasn't expecting to get such brightness from the colors and I wouldn't even consider going up to the more expensive options this year.

Perfect for dark rooms as this rv simulates true black so perfectly that our bedroom goes pitch black when between scenes. Sound is great at well. Don't sleep on the Google assistant features either. I'm always telling the TV to turn itself off while walking out of the room and it works perfectly. A+ for it's compatibility with gaming consoles as well

I have owned several Sony TV's over the years and have never been disipointed with the picture and quality of the sets. This Bravia XR OLED is no exception. I have to say it has the best color of any TV I have seen. I have never had Sony TV to go out, they just keep making them bigger and better so I get a new one ever 4 or 5 years.

First, (and this is really why I wanted to write this review), is to praise my sales associate at my local Magnolia Design Center in San Diego. Jon went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the TV and went above and beyond to help me find a panel I could live with. I really cannot say enough good things about the service he provided and would recommend him in a heartbeat o anyone in the area contemplating their next TV/HT/Audio purchase. 5 stars for Jon! Thank you, Sir! On to the TV itself, I'd like to say that the image quality of this TV is absolutely outstanding. Even more impressive than my old A8H was. The XR processor really does amazing things for standard definition content and well mastered HDR/DV looks phenomenally good. The Google OS and the new slimmer simplified remote are a joy to to use. I typically use an Apple TV 4K for streaming but have been using the built in apps a lot more recently because they work so well. The sound quality is also great and the Acoustic Surface speakers are really impressive for built in TV audio. The semi gloss screen is actually not a deal breaker in comparison to full gloss panels typical of most OLED's like I thought it might be, but those fears have proved to be unfounded. No negative effect on image quality at all. But this unfortunately also seems to make the surface of the screen of the TV more prone to micro scratches and here's the part where I'm sad to say Sony has some QC problems going on. All four of the TV's I received had these to some extent straight out of the box, and for the price of these TV's, it's pretty disappointing to pull a brand new TV out of the box that costs this much and see tons of little scratches all over the screen. In fairness, these do not affect image quality at all, and you need a flashlight to actually see them so I don't think most people would even notice. If I wasn't so OCD and meticulous when it comes to unboxing and cleaning my TV's I probably would have never noticed them myself. But I am and I did, and hopefully Sony will remedy this in the future and start putting protective films on their top tier TV's to avoid this issue. BTW, this is also happening on their A95K from numerous user reports on Reddit and AVSforums as well so it's not isolated to the A80K. For a premium brand at these premium prices it's not a good look. If LG can do it so can Sony. Despite that, I decided to keep this TV because I was tired of playing the panel lottery and the uniformity of the screen is quite good. Not perfect, but enough to where I don't notice issues while watching content, and thats what ultimately matters the most to me. And that's also where this TV shines. Put on a Blu Ray and prepare to be amazed. Put on a 4K HDR disc and prepare to be even more amazed. Even streaming from higher quality sources like Apple TV, Disney+ or Netflix and the improved color volume and color luminance are easy to spot versus the old A8H. So yes, I do recommend this TV, but Sony needs to fix this QC issue ASAP. Fingers crossed they do.

Phenomenal picture and color range. The blacks are pitch black which produces such stunning images on most movies. The Dolby Cinema view makes it feel like you’re in a theater. 10/10. Huge upgrade for us, very pleased. Coming from a 1080p 42" this looks amazing. Integrated Google TV let me get rid of another device (which is important because the TV only has 4 HDMI inputs, and 3 if you use a soundbar on ARC). The interface isn't as peppy as my old Google TV device (nvidia shield) but having access to all my devices with one remote makes it worthwhile. 4K content looks crisp and deep. Definitely would recommend an external sound system as the built in one lacks low-end. Was considering this and the A95K, but the A95K didn't seem like $1000 more of TV

I have 2 other Sony TVs in the last 12 years. They are still working without any problems. I decided the buy this one because I am very interested into the 4k experience. As expected, I am shocked with the picture quality. I also do like the TV that has Google TV built-in, and the ability to just search for content with my voice. The picture of the OLED is sharp and clear. I don’t think I can go back to LCD after switching to this one.

Wonderful picture with extremely nice black levels. My only gripe is not with the TV on its own, but with the Sony 5000 soundbar. When using the TV as a center speaker while paired with the sound bar, a hissing sound is emitted. This is a very common issue. Luckily the improvements to the sound would be minimal used this way so it truly is a minor gripe. I would recommend purchasing this TV if you can still find one open box!
