I bought the early 1080P (HD) TV’s before the content was widely available. Also switching to Blu-rays from DVD. I was very happy with my Sony 55” LED TV, (about 10 year old TV) but had not upgraded to 4K. So I started looking and researching. I’m a Sony fanboy, so leared about 4K, OLEAD, LED full dimming, etc. i liked the A80J, then the A80K came out, I thought buying the A80J, held off and was surprised to see that the new 2022 A80K had a lower price. I went ahead and got my black Friday purchase. The picture quality of this TV is just jaw dropping. The color reproduction, the super black, black. The TV is bright and was the best choice. The jump to OLEAD 4K was greater than the jump from old 480i to 1080P. If you are on the fence, just get it. A week after i got the TV, I had to get the Sony UltraHD 4K disc player! So full 4k baby!

Great TV, but beware the feet!

Both 4K discs and streaming look amazing. The speakers rival our soundbar! One problem: I found the directions to install the feet to be extremely confusing/unclear, and it could be risky to the TV to remove and reset them after installation (I didn't)!

Super Happy with our Sony TV

It processes our requests faster and doesn’t seem to have the lag that a few of our other smart TV’s have had. Definitely worth spending the extra $’s for.

I have a few gripes that prevent a 5-star review. 1. Legs are on the extreme outer edge, which forced me to purchase a new stand that was wide enough to accommodate. 2. Special features are extremely complicated to access, and it has no memory, so this must be done each time I turn the set on. For example, my partner is blind and we watch with "Audio Description" turned on. 3. Very few shows have that crystal sharp appearance like it always shows on the display models in the store.

Got it as a gaming tv and after adjusting the settings it was a very very clear picture. 4 stars because it doesn’t support HDR AT 120 fps or a few other high end graphics options offered on the ps5. With that said it’s a heck of an upgrade from my previous LG LCD. Great tv for a home theater, Also generally great for gaming. I don’t regret the purchase and would recommend it to anyone in the market.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted an OLED TV and this Sony was on sale at the time, making it pretty much in line with LG’s pricing. I set it up myself, which was not difficult. Due to the thinness of the panel I was a little paranoid about handling it, so you will best need a helper to move it around, which is what is recommended anyway. Comes with a remote with minimal controls as most people use an alternate remote anyway. Has adequate output ports in back, which were easy to reach. I especially got this unit because it still has a composite output. This allowed me to plug in an old Wii game console we have and which works beautifully with the TV. You will have to buy an adapter cord though, because it’s a mini-plug on the TV. You could alternatively plug in a VCR if you so desire. Picture is great, which I expected. Like other OLED units, brightness is not quite what I would like it to be, but you can adjust that till you find the picture satisfactory. Has good sound for a TV and in fact Sony makes some surround sound speakers that you can use the TV as a center speaker. Price of OLED TV’s are still on the high side, but if you can afford it, they are terrific.

Good picture, takes some time to work with Google

Google TV takes a bit of getting used to. Sadly, the remote doesn't have number buttons on it, that would make changing the channel so much easier. Again, trying to get used to Google, who doesn't seem to understand us 50% of the time, so a better remote would be wonderful, and given the price of the TV, seems like a better remote would be a given.

It was $2000. The television was trash. Horribly slow. No software updates. Dull and dim lifeless screen. Only good for a very dark room. Garbage. So I was a bit reluctant to buy another Sony OLED. The new xrA80K was getting great reviews. So...I bought the xrA80K. On sale for $1299. This wonderful set is Everything that the A8g wasn't. The new LG evo OLED panel is way brighter than the A8g. The picture is bright and gorgeous. I've already received more software updates in the month that I've had the A80k than I received in 3 years on the A8g. The processor is fast. No issues. Upscaling is great and 4k120 gaming is phenomenal. Highly recommend the xrA80k.

Not using the Google TV since I am already set up with Roku. Set up was remarkably straightforward. Probably helped that I skipped the Google portion. Mounted it on the wall with a Sanus BLT3-B1. My son helped and I recommend two people. 55" doesn't sound that big any more, but it is too big for a single person to handle without risk. The sound from the TV is very good as well. Plenty of movement across the screen, good clarity, and good bass. Also, we have plenty of video cassettes that we have not been able to play with a good picture for years. A BB associate recommended a component to HDMI adapter which is powered and converts to both 720 and 1080 signals. It works!!

Tv is bright enough without over saturating colors like I've seen on other tvs. So far has been great for gaming as well.
