Amazing at first. You're wowed by the colors, all of the amazing lights and thousands of bright color pixels. And you're like wow this is the best TV ever. And then all of a sudden (very quickly) 15 months later AFTER the warranty expires (12 months) you start to see pixels going. Yes dead pixels on Sonys Flagship TV. It won awards for being great. But DURABILITY is not one of these awards. A $3,000 television that is supposed to be the best television in the world that has dead pixels after 15 to 19 months?? Hmmm. This TV would be five stars if after 15 months you don't see dead pixels, but the problem is you start to get dead pixels a year and a half later. Furthermore, Sony customer service thinks your dumb and Sony tells you, at first, that this is normal and you are beside yourself that a $3,000 TV has red dead pixels in the middle of character faces after a year and a half. Normal ?!? What!! The second lie then comes from Sony and they say they don't have that TV anymore so they can't replace it which is all I wanted. However, this is a lie also because I can still buy it at my local Best Buy. Then after some back and forth and tons of pictures and communication they admit that it's a failed panel and they tell you that they will make an 'accommodation' for you. This accommodation is You can give them $1,000 MORE for the 2025 version of this television. So now you've paid $3000 for the first TV in 2024 and in 2025 they will give you the new model of this TV for $1000. So now you've actually paid $4,000 for the newer version that isn't even as good as the one you bought in 2024. Makes 0 sense right. So you actually have now paid more than the TV's worth in 15 months...so they are actually making money off you. However, I was still stupid enough to say hey I'll do it, because the dead red pixel makes me insane when I see it in someone's face while I'm watching television. You can never unsee it! Ever! But I said ok I'll put the broken pixel one in the basement for the kids and then it gets better. When I called back to make this decision that I was going to pay another $1000 for the newer version to stop this never unseen dead, bright, red pixel crazy that I can't unsee I was then told another one.... I'm told I have to send the 2024 TV back to them too. So now they actually get $4,000 plus your old 2024 TV. So you actually pay $4,000 for the TV that you can buy in the store right now for $2,200. This is all within 17 months. And Sony going to fix the red dead pixel in your return and sell that TV too to make even more money, so this is nothing but a scam! Sony should be ashamed. The biggest problem, I was talked into leaving Samsung and going to Sony by the Best Buy employee because the picture was better and at the time I believed it because the picture was amazing, but with the durability issues and Samsung standing behind their products I now wish I never met that employee. I would have a just as good Samsung TV, that I can't tell the difference anyways, and a company that stands by their products. I will never go back and I will return to Samsung. I had a problem one time with Samsung and they sent a person to my house to fix it no issues whatsoever and it was 5.5 months out of warranty. When you have an issue with a television at a 17 months, that is supposed to be your flagship television, that costs $3,000, you fix it for the customer. No questions asked. Especially when you have a new to Sony customer, who loves TVs. And then you know you have dead pixels after a year and a half you also know you have durability issues. Sony stand behind your products and be better because you lost a customer because I had bought a second Sony TV a few weeks before this happened and I actually returned it. Sony can't be trusted. I explained it to the customer service agent who actually said he understood everything I was saying and it didn't seem right, but somehow they wouldn't let me keep my other television so that at least I had some part of it for the extra $1,000. They said sir this is an accommodation, your TV is out of warranty. We are not talking about a $700 TV that was 3 years old we're are talking about a $3,000 television that started off at $3,500 and is your #1 TV and was broken at 17 months. Thats wild. How can anyone trust Sony after this? I'm sorry I can't. I should have been able to keep my television and upgrade to the new one to fix the problem or just come out and fix the problem. BUT now we are here.

Hi KodyH, You've made a fantastic choice! We're very happy to hear that you're satisfied with your purchase. Our flagship OLED TV powered by Cognitive Processor XR brings out our widest color and definitive contrast. For movies, games and more, everything is a deeply immersive experience in 4K QD-OLED. The QD-OLED panel reduces the effects of glare and reflection from daylight and room light so you can see images clearly in even dark scenes. And with Acoustic Surface Audio+, sound comes directly from the right place in the scene. Far more immersive than conventional TVs where sound comes from beneath the screen. Purchased a Good Condition A95L. Upgraded from an HR850. HR850 is a 3D non 4k tv with Gorilla Glass and 240ghz. The A95L looked more like a fair condition then a good one. The QD OLED Sony A95L has Android 12, not the current Andriod 15, so system updates is not a Sony priority. Had to change settings repeatedly for awhile before I found a retail setting that resets the settings every 5 mins. Game mode has to be turned on for UHD streaming to get the lip sync in order. Professional seems to work best for other content. But having to change settings based on what your watching can get annoying. Camera wave functions and viewing adjustments is a gimmick. Having seen an LG C1 in action picture on the Sony seems to have less shuttering, It is very bright TV, most the time have it in min. Reflections might be a problem if a window is behind the TV, even full bright. SD content varies on provider on playback quality, older content is too slow for the tv. The antenna Next gen worked good at first then after connecting to internet to do an update, only security, antenna reception disappeared. Ethenet is 100mbs, seems to stream 4k it should be gig speeds. Update failed repeatly, downloaded so slow and said restart just to have to download again. Had to upgrade hdmi to 2.1 cables but worked with older cables just limited arc. Google has a just tv mode so didn't have to sign in. Read Samsung made the display and furture Samsungs will use LG display, so Sony isn't in house. Getting it used saved money, but if had to buy new not sure it would be worth it. LG web os is annoying too. Samsung Tizen is always having security issues. Android at least is a common platform. Happy with purchase but obviously not a perfect solution.

      Hi zerog69,

Thank you for your detailed review of the Sony XR55A95L. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you are generally happy with your purchase. We understand your concerns regarding the condition of the TV and the need to frequently adjust settings. The XR55A95L is designed to offer a customizable viewing experience, and we recommend exploring the various picture modes to find the one that best suits your preferences. For gaming and UHD streaming, enabling Game Mode can indeed help with lip sync issues, and Professional mode is often preferred for other types of content.

Regarding the system updates, we strive to provide the best possible experience for our users, and your feedback about Android 12 is valuable. We are continuously working on improving our products and services.

We also acknowledge your comments about the camera wave functions and viewing adjustments. These features are intended to enhance the user experience, but we understand they may not be for everyone.

For issues with reflections and SD content playback, we recommend adjusting the TV's brightness and exploring different content sources to optimize your viewing experience.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the antenna reception issue after the update and the slow Ethernet speeds. For us to best assist you, please email us at socialsupport@am.sony.com with the following:

    Best TV Of 2023?

While no display technology is perfect, QD-OLED presents a compelling package of picture quality, color accuracy, and brightness. In years past, choosing a TV for what mattered most to you meant sacrificing in another area (i.e. accuracy vs brightness). QD-OLED provides strong performance in all areas, which is why it was my favorite display tech in 2022 and continues as my go-to display tech in 2023. I needed to outfit a secondary viewing area with a television and due to my positive experience with QD-OLED TV/monitor(s), I only gave serious consideration to Samsung's S95C and the new Sony A95L. I also took a close look at LG's G3 even though it utilizes a different display tech. With that being said, the A95L was 'my' most anticipated TV of the year and after a few weeks of putting it through its paces, I can confidently say this was well worth the wait. After the initial setup was completed, it was apparent that this was the next stage of evolution and refinement of the experience that I knew and loved. The improvements to brightness combined with color accuracy and clarity brought a new level of richness to the screen particularly in darker to moderate (brightness) content. Crushing blacks which required adjustment on my Gen 1 units to get it to a serviceable level looked better with no adjustments out of the box. Dimming in prolonged darker scenes has not been an issue. The clarity of this TV is outstanding. Extra crispy. It is the first thing that stood out when I fired up content for the first time. You may find yourself replaying sequences or voicing out loud how awesome a scene looks. This is one of the most accurate televisions you can buy right out of the box. For the enthusiasts, you may still prefer a calibration be performed on your A95L, but the masses will get to experience darn good accuracy and that will be more than enough for most. If you have the space, get the biggest size you can (up to 77"). I only went with the 55" because it's a secondary room. Audio. I appreciate what Sony is trying to do - trying to make the most out of the real estate available and on that front, they succeeded. The TV speakers perform better than most on the market. If you are someone who sticks to using the internal speakers of your TV, then you will appreciate the A95L as-is. On the other hand, if you are accustomed to a home theater system like myself, plan on upgrading your audio. I have mine setup in a smaller room, but missed the larger soundstage, clarity, and liveliness that comes with a beefier audio setup. Never saw myself as a soundbar user, but due to the smaller room its in, I went with the Sony HT-A7000, SW5, and RS5. There are only two HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV. Perhaps Sony believes that most people will using the TV with a receiver/processor or at the very least a soundbar for additional ports. At this price point, all four ports should be 2.1. I typically game on PC, but ran a few games through my PlayStation 5 at both 60hz and 120hz. Games looked gorgeous and brought a smile to my face. Responsiveness and latency has improved. I also connected my PC to the unit has ran a few titles at 120hz. The TV handled everything beautifully. I could go on and on and way more in depth on how great the TV has been so far, but do yourself a favor and at least go take a look at the TV. If it's within your budget, chances are the TV will speak for itself when you meet.

Let's start with A75L. Better speakers, better menu options (more preset menu options for finer control on the picture, video doesn't stop while accessing menu), has picture in picture, has Dolby vision gaming, has a better overall chip, more overall brightness, better stand, has a camera, remote with light, has speakers for Google assistant right in the tv, for 800 more, with only a marginal improvement on picture quality from A75. Yes, the picture is slightly better, more natural. I just didn't want the extra bells and whistles for 800 more. But if money was not an issue, this tv is perfect.

So, the Sony A95L TV, let me tell you, it's like having a cinema right in your living room! The colors are so vibrant, and the picture quality is just mind-blowing. And the best part? The blacks are so deep, it feels like you're right there in the action. Plus, the design is sleek and modern, adding a touch of elegance to your space. Trust me, this TV is a game-changer for your viewing experience. It's like having your own personal theater at home! Even in a super bright room, this TV shines! I mean, I've heard people say it might not do well in well-lit areas, but let me tell you, I've got big windows in my place, and this TV still delivers stunning picture quality. The colors pop, the details are crystal clear, it's like magic! So, don't let the naysayers fool you, this TV can handle any lighting situation like a champ. It's the real deal, no doubt about it!

I tried several tv’s wanting to finally upgrade my Sony XBR55x850B that I’ve had for 10 years now with not a single problem. I tried the Sony XR A80L. It was decent but felt my older XBR still had a better picture so I returned it for the A95L. The only thing that kept me from pulling the trigger before was the price tag. I finally did and I have to say I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. The TV is absolutely stunning and amazing picture quality. It’s definitely a little easier on my eyes. The blacks are BLACK! Typically with an OLED TV you don’t get the brightness as an LED but that is definitely not the case with this TV. You get your blacks, vivid colors and brightness all in one package. 10/10! Sony Bravia is way ahead of the game.

I bought this TV as my previous tv (Sony A9J) had been a monster. So with not much hesitation I want back to Sony. I did compare the A95L to the LG G4 at the time. Both are incredible tv's with amazing resolution and colors. I went with Sony as I prefer the deeper color choices of Sony over LG. Neither is bad. It's a matter of preference. The OS was familiar to the A9J as both were Google TV. One significant jump I experienced was gaming however. I was waist deep in FF7 Remake when my A9J went out. It was fresh in my memory. So once I got the A95L connected, I was taken aback by how much better the picture was. The colors popped in ways I didn't expect. I expected an improvement but it was much more than better colors and smoothness. It felt closer to a upgrade in console. Very impressive. As far as show/movie watching, switching between apps was smooth. Last thing, the remote, it's smaller than previous remotes for Sony flagship TV's. Still brushed aluminum finish. It's elegant and only has as many buttons as needed on a daily basis. It's the only tactile part of the TV one interacts with in general, and it's a great one as far as remotes go.

Loving this TV. Everything I've watched looks great on it. And I'm finding new joy in rewatching my favorite films and shows. I definitely recommend it. I was even surprised by the quality of the audio coming out of the built in speakers. The main downside [for me] was the stand. they are positioned and the ends of the TV, so if you have a media console, it has to be at least slightly longer than the length of the TV. I also don't love Google TV, which does not manage its real estate very well. It feels like the Prime Video interface with a lot of scrolling from left to right.

Thank you for that fantastic review, OneEarJack! We're so happy to hear that you're loving your XR-55A95L and that you're finding new joy in re-watching your favorite films and shows. We designed this TV with an OLED panel to deliver stunning picture quality, and it’s great to know that you are enjoying it so much. We're also thrilled that you're pleasantly surprised by the quality of the built-in speakers—that's thanks to our Acoustic Surface+ Technology, which turns the entire screen into a speaker.

We appreciate you sharing your honest feedback about the stand design. We understand that the placement of the feet at the ends of the TV can be a challenge for certain media consoles, and we will be sure to pass this valuable feedback on to our design team for future models.

We also appreciate your comments on the Google TV interface. We've chosen the Google TV platform to provide a more personalized, content-centric experience with a wide range of apps and recommendations. We understand that personal preference plays a big role in how you interact with the TV, and we will share your thoughts on the interface and real estate management with our development team for future software updates.

Thank you for choosing Sony and for sharing your wonderful experience!

This thing is absolutely amazing!! 55" is the perfect size for my bedroom, and the sound is actually pretty good, especially if you consider it's coming from the screen. I LOVE the Netflix and MAX 'modes' where it makes tweaking a thing of the past. Mind you, I am not averse to tweaking; my adequate theater projector and Onkyo TX70 with a Klipsch 5.2.2 setup will attest to that, but this thing shines out of the box. All I had to do was connect the wireless, and login to some apps. Even during some occasional daytime viewing I am blown away by the clarity, depth, and the BLACKNESS :) This replaced a Pioneer 50" KURO in the bedroom, and as such, had large shoes to fill; it does so with gusto. Truly a worthy replacement. I will also add that it will floor you when you feed it quality content, but even (decades) old YouTube content or DVDs (yes I still have some) will leave you with an appreciation of the processing engine. This thing was quite expensive, but I paid more for the KURO that lasted me 12 years; it's in the guest room now. I am glad I chose this beast; you will be as well.

The Sony A95L 55" TV is excellent. Even though it is on a room with Windows on all three sides, it handles the reflections very well. Even better then Ratings had predicted. The upscaling of cable imedia is excellent.

So...my previous TV before this one was also a Sony OLED, and I can't say that I wasn't thrilled by that TV either, but the A95...all I can say after having it for about a month is WOW! I used to sell home audio & video, and the picture on this et is beyond a home run- it's out of the park good. Really deep, ink like black levels, and a dynamic range that makes reds pop better than any consumer level set that I've ever seen. I've been using this for mostly watching 4K Blu-Ray's, and even my parent's (who rarely say anything nice ever) said 'That's a gorgeous picture!' when they were recently over. I would rate this 7 stars if I could...

Other than having to get a sound bar which is required by most new TVs, my experience was top notch through all steps; ordering, pickup, and setup along a dazzling picture. NFL’s Sunday Multiview is incredible on third 55” screen.

so far, so good! great picture right out of the box as advertised. picked this model over the Bravia 8 and am not disappointed. the Bravia 8 II seems to have a picture comparable to the A95 but with a heftier price tag.

This is the best tv I’ve owned yet and I’ve had a few of the Sony like. I don’t even think it’s overpriced. The colors are spectacular in light and in dark rooms. The picture handles like none other and the Sony mark of quality shines through. I can’t recommend it enough.
