Excellent quality. Great price. Sounds amazing!!!!

I wanted to get a 55 inch tv and I had been looking at the HiSense H7G, and was ready to buy it. But I saw it on display and immediately did not like the image quality. Knowing that a friend of mine had recently bought an 85 inch Bravia X91J and that Sony electronics have a reputation for quality, I saw the X90J in the store and decided to buy it. And I am glad I did. Setup was a breeze thanks to using the Google TV interface. If you have an android phone, setting the tv up takes less than 5 minutes. Image quality is great. And it is bright. HDR content pops. Audio is OK, as with most TVs, but that’s not an issue for me since the audio is played through a pair of powered bookshelf speakers from Fluance that sound amazing. All in all, TV plus speakers make for a relatively inexpensive media setup that’s is difficult to beat.

Great looking picture, super bright, 120hz works good for me. I can only give 4 stars because they have to give the VRR that is needed to really make this thing a true 5 star purchase. Don't let us down SONY.

I am reviewing this tv as my brother bought it but lives with me. This tv is good but a bit overpriced for what you get. On a positive note 120hz at 4k and vrr works for gaming out of the box. Picture is good with 4k content and about average while watching standard definition content. The picture on the tv is pretty bad though if you are using without a digital receiver from your cable company. The tv has a good picture for gaming, and decent hdr, although it won't come close to a oled for gaming, but this can be expected. Tv is overpriced for what you get, you are mostly paying for the sony name. There are much cheaper options out there now that are just as good if not better. My final opinion is that you should get last years model lg cx series for gaming, especially for pc, as it is nvidia gysnc compatible through use of freesync, but be advised to use the full potential you HAVE to have a 30series graphics card.

After several days, I finally got the picture to look the way I want it to look. My biggest complaint was blurring, and pixel distortion around objects that occurred when the picture moved, regardless of the HDMI input. It didn’t matter if the content was live or not. Adjusting the Motion Flow setting fixed the smearing issue issue for me. I set it to Custom, Smoothness is set to max or 3, Clearness is 0. I also turned Clarity up to max setting. Here are a few of the other settings I only watch cable HD tv or Apple TV. The cable is 1080 60Hz, while the Apple TV uses the max HDR setting and is set to Dolby vision light. For the cable set up The picture setting is Vivid Auto picture is off light sensor is off. Color Expert 1 , color 47, hue is G1, I turned off the “Live Color” setting and put the gamma setting at -1 Brightness is 40, contrast is 85. Black level 50, Black adjust is High Adv contrast enhance is Low Auto local dimming is low Peak luminance is low Clarity , sharpness is max. The Reality creation, random noise, and digital noise reduction are set to Auto Smooth graduation is off Again, The Motion Flow setting fixed the smearing issue issue for me. I set it to custom, Smoothness is set to max or 3, Clearness is 0. Cinemotion is set to Low For Dolby vision light, I turned up the sharpness to max and turned down the slightly the color, brightness and contrast. The Motion Flow settings are the same as for cable. Smoothness is max, and clearness is zero. A lot of settings refer to 4K and UHD, and don’t apply to just HD. Tv. After all the trial and error, the tv has a great picture.

Such a fantastic buy. I’ve had this television for over a year now and all I can say is that I’m happy I made this purchase. Picture quality is picture perfect. It’s literally everything I asked for in a television set.

I bought this a week ago and I’m amazed at how clean the picture is, my PS5 also runs 4K at 120hz with no problem at all. Definitely a great tv and the smoothness of the screen play is amazing. 3D sound, I don’t even use my sound bar anymore! Controller is awesome the Google TV is a blast and the controller is to!

Great price for a 55 inch, Google OS runs smooth. 120 hz hdmi 2.1, Dolby vision available looks great when paired with a Apple TV.

If looking for comparable to OLED or don't need deepest blacks this is the TV! Easy to use Google TV interface, great quality picture and refresh rate. Great for normal show streaming and especially sports!

This is my first higher priced tv purchase i have ever made. I was always wondering why one tv of the same brand was $300 vs another would be $1200. Sure it looked slightly better on display or had a few extra features, but not $900 of features. This tv has changed that mindset. The massive differences from my older tv to my new one are insane. Destiny 2 looks like a completely different game. Running Crucible in 120fps at 4k is a game changer. The colors are a whole different spectrum from my older tv. I have been pleased with how great the interface is with the built in apps. Basically no load times for videos, and best of all it pairs perfectly with my Ps5. If i turn the tv off the ps5 goes to sleep mode.

This TV is excellent. 4K 120hz YCbCr 4:4:4 and text looks sharp and clear on my gaming laptop. No smartOS beats android/googleTV. ATSC 3.0 so we’re set when that actually becomes something. My Hisense h9g from last year started having some panel lighting issues and the 2 year geek squad protection planned saved me and allowed me to upgrade. All the reviews say the h9g and the u8g has better colors but man, this x90j’ picture looks phenomenal and I think the colors are far more accurate. After digging deep into the internet the u8g doesn’t provide proper 4k120 and If you’re gaming, shell out a couple more dollars and get this TV over the Hisense.

The setup was simple, by-passing all apps, WiFi, and setting up Cable/Local TV, DVD/Blue Ray player, JBL 5.1 sound bar system. I will never use those apps, and I will not setup WiFi to the Internet. I refuse to use the apps and the WiFi. The ONLY thing I want to connect to the Internet is a Desktop computer, and or a Laptop computer, Period. I do think that the sound systems of a couple decades ago produced much better sound than all this newer stuff. Using a receiver/amp and speakers produces much better sound. After having this TV for about a month, I have to say that it's a very nice TV. I have no buyers remorse!!!

Ok, I like the Sony brand quality a lot. I have multiple other Sony products along with other major brand electronics. I bought this tv to replace an older 32 inch Sony that was manufactured just before smart tvs became the norm. Hence, I could only access the internet through a USB attachment which was not included. The physical setup was very easy as was connecting to the internet. The 55 inch Sony tv is just light enough that a grandma like me with a broken elbow could drag the box out of the car by myself, and once out of the box, carry it to an upstairs bedroom. I don’t stream much besides Netflix, but my children and grandchildren do, so it’s nice that the remote offers easy access buttons for the Disney, YouTube, and Prime Video apps. The picture is beautiful and crisp. Admittedly I don’t pay any attention to how black the black is or stuff like that. So save those reviews for C-Net or something. I also have it hooked up to a sound bar, so I can’t comment on the audio quality. The tv looks sleek, is modern and functional with plenty of ports to connect other devices. I think it was a great buy.

I've been waiting for years to splurge on a great 4k and the day finally came! I was in between this and the Sony X950h and ultimately I'm very glad that I went with this TV as the picture quality is incredible, and when I eventually get a PS5 I'll have the perfect TV for it. The sound is actually pretty solid, I normally use speakers but for now the TV sound is plenty for a small living room. The google apps are great and the ability to chromecast is very convenient. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star and not 5 is that on at least 5 occasions the TV has shut off and reset mid-watching a show, and sometimes the HBO Max app will just load and not go anywhere. It is not an internet connection problem as I have 1Gbps speed in an ethernet connection, so I'm assuming the software is a bit buggy. So hopefully that will improve, otherwise incredible TV!
