    Nothing But Problems For Me...

They tried to talk me into the Samsung Q6F, and I should have listened. The Sony X800E was easy to setup and get running, but I ran into problems right out of the box. It started with laggy functions from the remote. When pressing anything on the remote, it would take 1-2 seconds for anything to happen on screen. After having the TV for one day, it would no longer connect to WiFi. I gave up after spending over eights hours on the internet trying to fix the issue, and hooked up an ethernet cable. Even then, it would disconnect once the TV was turned off, and in order to get it to reconnect to the internet, I would have to do a factory reset EVERY time I wanted to connect. After having the TV for roughly two weeks, it began randomly running through the Android logo screen when the TV was turned on, like it was out of the box, and then, believe it or not, it started turning off by itself. The last straw was when the left side of the screen became darker than the right. Besides the the aforementioned issues, the TV is also hard to view in the dark, and while the contrast of the TV is pretty good, the blacks are not very black, which becomes very noticeable when the lights are out, with the black frame around the TV. And, although not a huge issue, because I'm sure most hookup a sound bar or another external audio source, but the sound on this TV is pretty underwhelming. Thankfully, even though I was over my return/exchange period, the wonderful people at Best Buy in Ann Arbor, MI allowed me to exchange it, and I upgraded to the 55" Samsung Q6F, which I have had for nearly three weeks now, and I am VERY happy with it. I won't review that TV here, but I am going to write a review for it in the proper location. I will say everything about it is better than the Sony X800E, though.

    Dead after 18 days

I would have given this review a one star but decided on a two star as Sony support was awesome. I had a limited budget and this TV broke it a bit but I didn't want to go the TCL Roku route because of the severe banding issues on their 55" & 65" TVs. I knew this was a two year old model, but it seemed to have decent reviews. I bought it with BB delivery and setup. I also had BB take my dead three year old cheap Insignia that had blown its back light. The BB setup team was very prompt and professional. This TV died, completely unresponsive except for a green LED on the front. I called Geek Squad hoping they might wave that I was 4 days past the return date. Of course they sent me to Sony. I called Sony support and went through their litany of troubleshooting. Nothing worked. They had me send a couple pictures to verify the TV. They then dispatched a delivery of a replacement to my residence. I received a call informing me of acceptance of the failed product but they would be sending a substitute TV as the X800E was no longer in stock for them. The Sony rep said they would be sending me an X900F. A nice $400 upgrade! I arrived in a week and was set up in my residence. The X800E was taken away. The X900F works great so far. Getting back to my 2 star rating for the product. I stand by it as the TV died within 3 weeks of new. Even as I was compensated by Sony with a replacement upgrade. It doesn't remove the fact that the X800E was a lemon TV in my case. If you are considering this TV, think twice. Reliability many not be your friend. In the end I am happy I have a new TV, but it was a bit disappointing that this model turned out bad and most likely end-of-life.

    Poor Handling of HDR Content

I was in the market for a 4k HDR TV and chose this one based on the viewing angles (most have poor viewing angles). I was very satisfied with this aspect of the TV. Sports and regular HD 1080p via cable box was excellent from any angle. I also watched a blu-ray on the TV and was satisfied. But then I tried out the HDR capabilities. I viewed an episode of Daredevil on Netflix, and things were going ok until there was a dark scene. All the blacks appeared as a fuzzy, grey haze. I thought at first I was just tired, and rubbed my eyes several times. I tried adjusting the picture settings, and the Cinema Pro setting helped a little, but not enough. I read some expert reviews online and they stated that this TV is unable to handle dark scenes, and boy are they right. It's so distracting that it makes HDR content unwatchable. If HDR viewing doesn't matter, you're better off buying a regular HD TV for half the price. I'm just going to open my wallet and get an LG OLED instead.

    No Bluetooth Audio Support!!!!

My initial impressions of this TV were WOW. But after a using for a month or so I bought a Bluetooth sound bar and I wouldn't connect. I thought the sound bar was defective so I sent it back. Then the replacement sound bar wouldn’t connect, and I tried it with my Bluetooth headphones which also didn’t connect. Now the problem was apparent, I had a bad TV. Too bad it was outside of the return period. So I contacted Sony support. They regretted to inform me that the TVs in the 800 series don’t have support for Bluetooth Audio!!! What!! On a $1000 TV?!?! I feel really ripped off and theres nothing that I can do about it at this point. I was really sold on the 4k HDR that this TV offered and assumed something as basic as Bluetooth connectivity would be included in a TV in this price range. I was wrong. I will think twice before buying another Sony TV.

After purchase, Sony recommends installing latest updates. This causes the sound to make loud snapping and popping noises when I F/F and R/W DVR or when I change channels. Spend hours on phone with tech support, no help. Finally, an update comes down and only partially fixes problem. So it was an update that breaks the sound and a new update only partially fixes it. Think Sony tech support is any help? NOT!!!! Turns out other Sony models are experiencing this same problem. If you don't believe me, Google Sony clicking and popping sound when changing channels. This has been ongoing for a while across many models. You've been warned, stay away from Sony Bravia TV's

This TV had great picture quality, but input lag was lacking for playing fps on my xbox. It also didn’t play nice with my bose receiver. For sone reason it wouldn’t turn off, the tv keptturning back on when my receiver was connected through ARC. My controller would turn off the TV and receiver, and in a few seconds everything would turn back on, I exchanged it gor a samsung and no longer have this problem and input lag is so much better.

This TV worked for approx 1 year and a month and then the screen went black. Just my luck, a month out of Warranty. After looking for a fix in Sony's support pages and getting no help I searched online for help and saw that this was a common issue. Typically right after Warranty. Buyer beware and get extended warranty.

This is my 2nd Sony Bravia tv, I gave up on the 1st one after they replaced all the boards. Now this one is starting to do the same things. They have said now they know there's a software problem. If they fix this glitch, this could be a Great Tv. I would go as far as to say if they fix the glitch I would give the Tv a 5-star rating!

The software and interaction on this tv makes anything to do with interacting with it an absolute nightmare. Picture is awesome but freezing and randomly resets will make your life miserable. Netflix purely doesn’t work with this tv, my Xbox one randomly wont show as an input.

Background lighting ,fit ,finish and sound are good. If you have an iPhone the google features are worthless, UHD up conversion is poor. Review all brands before making a choice on a moderately priced UHD.
