Bad WiFi Card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glitchy and slow on “high speed” WiFi. Chooses to lower resolution when not rates are fine, but you have to exit the app to get resolution back. Randomly overlays images for 5 to 10 seconds at a time, so subtitles are unreadable when they’re stacked on top of each other. Seemingly worked fine on 2 kb/s WiFi, but struggles with 20 mb/s WiFi. Limited selection of apps as well, but maybe the new Sony UI is more expansive.

Sony is loosing reputation!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a house by myself and I have 6 TV's. This TV is in a room that I rarely go in. I have turned on this TV approximately 20 times in 2 years. The TV will not turn on. I changed the cord. I had it on a surge protector. I have tried a reset. It will not turn on with or without the remote. I have also had to replace the remote!

Shuts Down Often
Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though the picture quality is good I need to give this a 1 star review because of technical issues. It is run by Android which basically makes it a computer. It shuts down and restarts on at least a daily basis. Vey annoying as I lose whatever I am watching at the time for however long it takes to reboot. Also the screen will occasionally freeze which means I have to restart it. I have other "Smart" televisions that never do this and cost far less money.

Posted .Hi JimD,
We're glad that you like the picture quality of the TV. It's unfortunate that the TV reboots by itself and occasionally freezes. This isn't normally the case with the XBR55X800H TV. Make sure to install the latest software version to improve the general performance and stability of the TV. These steps may help resolve the unexpected restarts:
-Make sure the power cord is plugged in all the way. Remove any power strips, surge suppressors, or similar devices from the TV to verify that the problem isn't caused by these devices.
-Try a different wall outlet and make sure that it doesn't have a switch that turns the power on / off.
-Disconnect all external devices from the TV (USB, LAN connection, HDMI® connection, Antenna, etc.) except the power cord and turn the TV on. If the TV turns on and stays on, reconnect the devices one at a time until you find the device that's causing the issue.
-Perform a power reset:
1. Turn off the TV.
2. Unplug the power cord for two minutes, and then plug it back in.
3. Turn on the TV.
4. Verify if it resolves the issue.

Pixels dying after 3 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 3 years ago. Works fine, Android OS is great. The screen is dying. After only 3 years I've got clumps of dying pixels along to top of the screen. When there is a scene with a large bright area, it looks like light grey clouds are along the top of the screen.

Horrible picture quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an 8 yr old 52" Samsung, and I'm so disappointed. The screen is beyond annoying, even with motion/smoothing settings maxed out. The colors are pretty washed out out and the blacks are very grey. I went by the some of the positive reviews on this site and didn't see the TV in person before buying (COVID purchase). I'll actually be putting my old Samsung back in place because even though it's old technology, the picture quality surpasses this Sony by far. Save your money, and buy something better. If I weren't too far past the return time, I'd be bringing this back. I really feel ripped off. The $150 Insignia 32" I have in a bedroom is way better than this junk.

Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had it for less than two months. Turned it on yesterday evening and discovered a blue vertical line about an inch from the right hand edge of the screen. It went away after about 45 minutes. Turned the TV back on this morning and it was there again. Followed Sony's online troubleshooting guide but this did not fix the problem. I spent a lot of time reading reviews before buying this product and thought I was making a good choice but apparently I was wrong. I would not recommend buying this TV.
