This is a very good TV for the price. It was easy to set up and the features are also very easy to use. I’m not really into technical features, but the ones I use, mainly toggling between over the air tv, cable/satellite, and streaming were easy to figure out. I had an old Samsung plasma TV that frankly had a slightly better picture, but it used a lot more energy and I’m glad that this one is more energy efficient. Overall, I’m very pleased with the ease and quality of this tv.

This Sony 55 inch Class X80J LED TV has a good quality picture. It is clear and has excellent color. Setup was easy and the price was reasonable.

This Sony tv has been awesome from movie. To games and tv! It has a great picture for everything. I would recommend this to family and friends.

I bought this one for the bedroom. 55 incher is just great. Picture quality is fantastic. Sure, the OLED is better, but it isn’t $1,000 better. Super easy to use. Setting up other apps is easy…in fact, tv almost did it completely by itself. I looked at others, and I think it’s a great choice for the price range. Cool-looking remote as a bonus.

Better than the other brand. We have this TV on mostly during the day (more than 8 hours) and it has been without problems. Top notch picture quality. The remote is very easy to use. Setting up the TV does not require an internet app. Price is a little bit higher than the other brand but worth it.

The colors are amazing. And when you pop on a 4K disc the imagery is beautiful. I don't regret making the payment on this TV.

When reviewing a TV you must compare it to proper expectations. It does not cost $2000 or perform like it costs $2000. This is an entry level 4K tv. On the plus side: Google TV is fantastic (I didn't even hook up my Roku), full direct lighting, Google assistant, fits in the same space as my previous 50" HD tv, 4 HDMI inputs, 2 USB ports, remote is excellent. Cons: remote doesn't control my (several years old) Samsung soundbar (it doesn't have HDMI ARC - the tv does) but it works great with it anyway, viewing angle is not as wide as my old plasma screen (again, entry level tv expectations) but I don't watch tv from the side anyway. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of 4k live programming - no fault of the tv, but I've found that the difference from full HD to 4k is not the quantum leap as it was from SD to HD. The picture looks great with any HD or above source. To summarize, I'm very happy with my purchase. My overall rating of 4 stars simply reflects that this is not the best tv you can buy. Is it the best one you can buy for under $600 on sale? Maybe! It is everything I expected of it - and more.

Was currently searching for a bigger screen to replace my living room tv. I decided a 55” would be the perfect size to replace my current 50” LG in order to create a better viewing experience. I went with the Sony X80j due to the build quality and the features that the tv had. The new XR motion capabilities make every scene look smooth, everything from action movies to tv shows that have a slower frame rate. The colors o pop, which pleasantly noticible within the new Suicide Squad film. Colors pop extremely well and the brightness was perfect even out of the box without much calibration needed. Gaming on the tv which is a big plus to me feels incredibly smooth and I love the “upgraded” frame rate it can use in game mode on the newer next gen consoles. My biggest gripe, which is not that huge of one, is that I feel like the Dolby picture setting on vudu and in netflix doesn’t pop like it needs to. But I know if I had gone to the X85j or x90j I could get a better response on it. Overall an excellent tv for my first Sony.

This entry-level Sony Smart TV basically sets itself up thanks to the excellent Google TV OS. It finds the cable provider, adds the correct channel lineup and makes the full-featured remote control operate the cable box. The picture and sound quality (after a room test by the TV) are solid and the set is value-priced (less than $750). The full-size remote even offers direct one-button access to popular streaming apps. Buy this TV if the more advanced features on the pricier Sony TVs are not needed and you want to save some money!

Bought this to replace a 3 year old LG. My main complaint is with the apps on smart TV are not user friendly and bugging until this one. Looked at Samsung which is slow and Web OS which has problems. Google tv is new so I thought why not and I bought this tv. Love picture and Dolby Vision is how do I say this but wow. First tv I have bought that was spot on. Google home works flawless. Sling always gives other platforms problems but not on Google as it is smooth. My tv watching is OTA along with Sling, Netflix and Prime Video which with Google no more going to app and searching as your favorites are on home screen. Can't say anything about speakers as I have surround sound system. Wife loves talking to get her shows. Apps are quick. Don't know about net gen cause not in my area yet but I am now ready.

Great TV from Sony, as expected. The setup was very easy as I just inserted the legs of the stand into the TV. The out of box picture quality was amazing with great colors and great picture details, even on older shows. The sound quality is acceptable at this price point, and I'll get a Sony sound bar for serious viewing. Sony's Android TV was very usable, but their new Google TV interface really enhances the experience, and the Google microphone helps as well. Now, I can easily navigate to my streaming option or ask Google to switch to Infinity, and I'm watching cable TV. For my needs, this TV exceeds my expectation.

Picture is incredible. User interface is simple and easy to follow. Not the "best" TV on the market picture-wise, as the next models up on the Sony line looked slightly nicer, but for the cost of this TV vs. the "better" models, this one just can't be beat. If you're not always needing the latest and greatest thing, this is a more than serviceable model at a great price. Picture quality and operational speed off my wi-fi, this is the best TV I've owned. I don't use the built-in speakers often, they work and sound alright but I've never been a fan of built-in speakers on any TV... Overall, highly recommended.

I went to Best Buy to look at TVs and to see what they had. After looking, I asked the salesman what he thought the best TV would be that was under the price of a QLED or OLED. He immediately brought me over to the Sony 55" Class X80J Series LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV. And, I'm so glad he did. He said unfortunately they didn't have any in stock, but I could order it online. Ordering online was easy, it arrived when promised, and I couldn't be happier. Great picture, easy to operate and the sound is so good I don't even need my sound bar. Excellent TV for the price.

I bought this to replace my 55" Samsung Plasma that had died on me. My wife and I both have astigmatism and were not expecting to see a large difference in the quality of the picture. We were wrong. The colors are crisper and there's almost a 2.5D feel to the picture. Like it's about to pop out like a 3-D picture but it doesn't. But there's still a depth there were weren't expecting to see. Granted there are better, more expensive televisions out there but this model is still an excellent upgrade. It's also our first Smart TV and so far everything we've done with it has worked without issue. With the addition of the adapter pieces that came with the tv we were also able to use the tv stand we had our old set on.

An impressive Smart TV with an intelligent remote that replaces cable and TV remotes, and simple to use. You'll need to use your Google Account for setting up, and can sign up for many cable premium streaming apps and select free streaming apps. TV screen quality and sound quality are excellent and hard to beat IMO. Interface is easy to learn to get to TV or streaming services from the home screen. Will learn your watching habits and make recommendations. The only (-), mirrorng from a cell phone or tablet is not available. This is our second Sony 4K TV and very impressed with both. Well worth the money spent.

Great picture. Sound is good too. Color is really balanced. Bright so it works well in a bright room. Glare is not noticed very much. Really happy with purchase.

We had to get a replacement TV due to the Samsung one we had 3 years ago was dying; started off with a black or dark vertical bar near the middle but more towards the right, then the whole right half was dead. Anyways, scored this TV being on a good sale price for Father’s Day and what not; and the setup was a good experience to say the least. The setup instructions were just pictures without captions or anything specified, but we figured it out. All your connections and ports (audio and video but the power port is on close on the right) are to the left edge facing; so if you have a piece of equipment (cable box, streaming device) on the right side of let’s say, a tv armoire or hutch, you’ll need a longer cable (like an HDMI cable) or do some rearranging. Fantastic picture and sound, but we’re using a sound bar - sub externally. Configured the remote to work also with our cable box with xfinity, so somewhat less hassle. All in all I think this should last more than not just 3 years but I’d say 5+ years, but we did invest in a protection plan.
