The picture is excellent and the audio too. Very easy set up. I use it with the Roku Ultra stick and can switch to the Google smart system easily. I would recommend this tv.

Okay TV, Lousy Controls

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Sony 55" X80K is an okay TV (I am 80 and basically any TV looks good to me) with what I think are really lousy controls. 80 year old eyes that have had Lasik surgery and have trifocals in front of them will certainly have different criteria for picture quality than 35 or 40 year old eyes. So I can not make any judgments about the picture. Like most televisions today, the Sony uses legs rather than a pedestal. This means you either need a wide cabinet to sit it on or you need to wall mount it. Just know this about any large TV when planning a purchase. Substituting legs for a pedestal is a money-saver for manufacturers and seems to be standard today. The Google interface for streaming channels is nowhere near as well designed as the Roku interface I have been accustomed to using. Also, selecting anything while in this interface results in a really obnoxious beep sound. This requires muting the TV before making any kind of selection. The remote control itself that has no numbers on it, forcing you to go to the TV's screen menu to change channels. Even then it takes two button pushes to select a channel — one to select the channel and one to click past the description screen for that channel. I cannot comment on the TV's sound as I have a sound-bar installed. All in all, it is a decent purchase. I suppose I got my money's worth, but no more. However I didn't go crazy shopping and comparing, so if I didn't then the fault is mine.

Samsung beats LG but Sony takes the win over both of them. Picture quality is great. Sound is great. Responsiveness of the remote and operating system is top notch and well above the other brands I mentioned. Love Sony and will pick them over Samsung in the future.

Sony vs Samsung

This is my first Sony and I must say that it is holding up very well to the Samsung brand of quality TVs. So far, both brands are very similar. Also, very equal in the picture quality, plus Sony's sound is actually a little better. Very happy with the new tv.

The picture is awesome and the size is great; not too big & not too small. The only problem that I have had is connecting my headphones to it. Other than that, it's a great TV. This is my second Sony; normally I buy Samsung.
