It's not "perfect" out of the box and does need some adjustments but when you get it right, it's perfect. Not a complaint to be made so far. Yes it's not "perfect" but it's also not a $5000 TV! Comparing it to other TV's which ARE is not a fair comparison. And to all of you nitpickers out there, stop whining. Nothing is perfect. All I ask is for you to think of how BAD TV was back in the "old days" compared to something like this TV. There is NO comparison. As with all tv's when your settings are adjusted well for your viewing environment the 4K and regular tv look AMAZING. It does tend to run a bit bright so keep track of your brightness, black level and contrast settings to find the right mix for 4k and regular TV. Sports, movies, even the local news, all look GREAT. You can't go wrong with this TV. And it has more than enough HDMI's to make you happy. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

5-Star TV But Had to Upgrade the Firmware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is the TV arrived with an ancient version of firmware. The 5G WiFi connection kept dropping and it wouldn’t let me log back in to download the firmware. The Sony website provided directions to download the firmware to a stick drive and update it via a USB port. Followed the directions and the TV wouldn’t recognize the file. Eventually' logged into the 2G WiFi connection and upgraded the firmware that way. So, unfortunately the TV had been in the box for awhile. But, the TV now is great. The initial setup was extremely easy. Great pictures with sharp, vivid colors. All the streaming services work great now that the firmware is updated. The TV is in our 24’x16’ bedroom and the built in sound is great, so no need for a sound bar/surround sound system.

Gaming on Xbox Series X at 4K@120 is insane. Only gripe I have is when I unboxed the tv once I cut the 2 white plastic straps from the box the box itself wasn't sealed and nothing was holding the box from sliding off the tv. Seemed kinda odd. Everything inside the box was still factory sealed as far as legs and remote and stuff which doesn't warrant that it was a return. And the box itself wasn't labeled open box from best buy. So just kinda weird that it wasn't sealed from Sony.

Very Nice For The Price

We had never actually seen 4K quality even though we are accustomed to larger screens. Once we got through the initial set-up and began to test the product we both agreed that we definitely got the Best Buy (pun intended) for our money. 4K movies look totally different and both my PS5 and Xbox S look phenomenal!!!! Shout out to our salesman Muc, he definitely knew what he was talking about and led us to a very happy purchase!!! I just wish we would have gotten a bigger one. :-D

The picture was not very sharp at all. I had 4k HDMI cables and a SONY x700 4k Player connected to this SONY 4K HDR TV. The old TV, a 2019 LG 50UM7300PUA was much better than this 2021 SONY KD55X85J in a side by side comparison. I do not recommend this TV, because for the price you do not get what SONY advertised.

The position of the TV that you select should accommodate your viewing preferences. So with lighting conditions: Light from windows and lamps may cause glare on the TV screen. Also, picture settings allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, motion settings, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your TV. Settings are adjustable for the types of content viewed such as streaming video, DVD/Blu-ray Disc, USB drive, and composite/component video content. Adjusting the picture quality will help to resolve your issue.

Also the video and audio did not match up on these two channels. My older Sony that is running off the same antenna has no issues at all. Even if the signal is a little weak it should pick it up like my other two TVs. I love Sonys but it looks like Samsung is going to get my money if they have a TV that can tune to a channel without a 30 second delay.

If you still have the TV, we'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please follow these steps to run the auto program of your Sony TV. First, please select the correct signal type on the TV and scan for the channels again.
On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
Select Settings. (Gear icon)
This step will vary depending on the options available in your TV menu. Follow the steps accordingly.
Select Channels → Channel setup.
Select Watching TV → Channels → Channel setup.
Select Channel setup.
Select Cable/Antenna.
Select Signal type.
Select Cable or Antenna.
Please make sure to select the correct Signal type and run the auto program, this should show the available channels.

Netflix crashes non-stop.

Netflix will crash every 5 minutes in the middle of your show for no reason. No other app crashes, just Netflix. Do not get a Sony TV or a Google TV for that matter.
