I initially bought the X80J but ran into Wi-Fi connection and build quality issues. Save yourself the trouble and buy this model if you don’t need all the added features. It has Dolby Vision and a 120 Hz refresh rate which makes watching movies and playing games on the PS5 such an enjoyable experience!

It's not OLED but has a nice, crisp 4K picture and 4K / 120hz / HDMI 2.1 inputs which is specifically why I purchased it. The PS5 looks great on it and the two systems - both made by Sony - integrate well together. The onboard speakers are surprisingly robust although I have it hooked into a 5.1 surround sound system. Bluetooth enabled, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, all your major streaming apps. It does it's job, does it well and - for the moment - is future proof. Four stars due to the absolutely baffling decision (as noted by other reviewers) to cover the screen in a highly reflective, matte covering that refracts every. single. source. of. illumination. in. the. room. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Any light you have in the room is going to reflect back at you. I have no idea what they were thinking with this decision. The many goods outweighs this one GLARINGLY OUTSTANDING bad and if you can pick this up for under $1k - it's probably still worth it - especially if you are looking for a good, quality set that is ready for future formats and will last you a good few years.

The picture is great. The tv stand legs are wide so make sure you have a wide surface to put it on. Be extremely careful when moving the tv. Don't press on the screen or you will damage it. It has 4k 130hz vrr gaming which is great for PS5. I recommend this tv for sure.

Color is outstanding, almost like it is live not on a tv. Sound could be a little better from the factory but I intend to add a sound bar and subwoofer at a later date. Having trouble pairing my DVR and Blue Ray to the remote. Directions aren't all that specific so I just keep different remotes at the ready.

Still playing around with the HDR settings, but I see limited value in that at the moment. Definitely better contrast and depth with the direct lit display. Love the built-In Google TV. The sound is sub-par in comparison with an older Samsung 55” LED, but the Sony has an HDMI arc input. Will soon buy a compatible sound bar and take full advantage of the arc. Overall, $750 well spent.

I also have a Sony Sound system with this and the Surround Sound and Base is excellent now. I had been missing a lot of sound effects until I got this Sony 55 inch X85J series. I would have loved this years model, but it was beyond my purchasing ability. The picture is superb, and all functions are easy to use and understand. It works very well with Apple TV accessory. I made due and got it connected / hooked up pretty fast. My previous TV was a Sony KDS 55a2000 SXRD so this was a big leap but I have always been a Sony fan - I have a wega Kv- 32fs120 in my bedroom. Yes a 2005 CRT. But back to this X85J series - the picture quality is amazing. I am a Laseardisc afficiando so having a side port where I can plug in my Laserdisc player is very hard to find in the 50"+ size of TV - that sold me and the ease of hooking up a LaserDisc player was a bonus. My Blu Rays, broadcast TV, PC, and LaserDisc player all look great as does my PS3. Overall this is continuing the tradition of good Sony Electronics in my home. I just need to track down a remote since this was the store model and didn't have one.

Built in one touch buttons on the remote for Prime & Netflix is so convenient. The Korean TV manufacturers are still playing catch up to Sony for the picture! Why else do you even want a TV?
