Android auto functionality is awesome and SONY audio quality is is top notch.

by "typical" I mean: * Decent audio performance, not "top of the heap" but pretty good. * Some non-intuitive (and/or hidden) controls buried a couple of menu layers deep... for example, I think a Balance and Front/Back Fade ought to be ONE click away. * PRESETS cannot be LOCKED!!! It's too easy to accidentally poke at one of the preset "buttons" the wrong way (whatever that is, I haven't figured it out yet!) and have the preset be CHANGED to the current station setting, rather than switching to the already saved preset! THIS SUCKS! PLEASE DO A FIRMWARE UPGRADE TO FIX THIS, SONY! * CarPlay is "OK", but I think what's lacking is having a way for the VOLume of navigation speech (Siri) vs the VOLume of music to be proportioned more consistently, and remove the phone's volume settings from the equation! Sometimes I can;t hear navigation, other times Siri blasts me out of my wits! * Provide a way to TURN OFF the "warning dialog" that comes up every time you start the car; I shouldn't need to be forced to click "OK" just because some lawyer proclivity towards CYA. * As some other reviewers have mentioned, the BASS capabilities of this unit seem a little short of what audiophiles might expect; but for the price/feature ratio, it's decent.

I really like it so far. Everything is easy to use and easy to install with prior experience. I wanted to give it 4 stars but the pros outweigh the cons still. The only cons that I'm having a problem with is the Spotify app doesn't quite jive with it from any device. You have to restart the app and sometimes it'll work again. The 2nd issue I'm disliking is everytime it turns on there's a warning about not using it while driving that pops up and you have to touch ok to get out of it and no way to disable it. Kind of defeats the purpose of not using it while driving if it wants you to touch ok...silly. But the display is amazing, works great with a different brand back up camera and the included microphone for phone use is of good quality no one is having problem hearing me with road noise in the background not being a problem. Great buy for the price

I bought this Sony XAV-AX100 as an aftermarket replacement for my 2008 Jeep Wrangler factory radio (which was the Infinity system with subwoofer and built-in car navigation). This Sony has no built-in car nav but I am using Apple-Play and therefore have the phone navigation available. That is anyway my preference because it is more updated than any factory navigation system. Making phone calls and receiving phone calls via the radio/speakers/Bluetooth mic works well. The overall sound quality I am getting with this radio is better than with the original factory system -- more volume, better sound and the equalizer feature is also an improvement over the factory one. I had it installed by BestBuy. I am fully happy with it and will buy a second one for my other Jeep.

Wanted to get a double din Android Auto stereo and this one was on sale. I really like it. For being a 2016 model, it's pretty snappy. It's only capacitive screen but it works really well. Happy with the purchase

I bought this for my daughter who is in college. She loves it; said setup was simple: and has all the CarPlay features she wants. I also bought a backup camera for her and she says the picture on the unit is excellent.

Most radios only support Apple, so I took a shot with this one because it was on sale and it supports android. It's great. I'm able to have the navigation on the screen, listen to all my music apps (spotify, Amazon music), it reads my messages and I can reply thru voice. I was even able to keep my steering wheel controls.

This stereo is really sleek in design and easy to use. I love that I can connect my phone or use bluetooth. Just have to add the app, sometimes has trouble connecting to bluetooth but overall great in quality!

I have owned this receiver for just a month but it really seems to be a great value for a mid-level priced receiver. I use it with Android Auto and it has performed flawlessly so far.

Wife got me this receiver for Christmas and I love it! The interface is very intuitive and the picture is great, I especially like that you can import a background. There are only two items that kept me from giving it 5 stars. 1) the volume knob is too small, the circumference of the knob could be bigger but the real problem is the depth I have a hard time adjusting the volume while driving since I have to use the tips of my finger and thumb. 2) when you set the presets on the tuner it changes from displaying the frequency to always displaying the current song title, there's not nearly enough room to display 6 song titles at once so it's just a mess of scrolling text and you now have to memorize all your presets

What the display at the store does not show you is EVERYTIME you start the car, you must agree to the safety disclaimer by hitting "OK". Very annoying. Also not visible on the display unit, the pre-selected radio channels show a portion of the last song that was played on that station; NOT the station number. WTF? That information is useless. Someone on the Sony owner's forum has posted a "patch" to get rid of the safety warning on startup. Very Nice. The box that also shows the current song title is too small so it must scroll. Really? on a graphical touchscreen they couldn't have made the text box larger? Otherwise, this is a good starter radio with Android Auto, which works very well.

I purchased this as an upgrade to my stock 2009 Toyota Yaris. It's been nothing but a dream. Android Auto is flawless. One cable instead of multiple no more phone mount.

This is my third Sony head unit but my first touchscreen. Everything is simple to use and works great. Android auto is awesome. It brought my factory speakers to life.

I purchased this to replace my stock Audi RNS-E radio. Works great. Love that it's both Android Auto an Apple CarPlay compatible. I had Apple CarPlay on stock Ford radio, and this actually runs a lot faster. The only problem I've seen is that with CarPlay and Spotify, it's hard to "swipe" through my Playlists.

Couldn't be happier with the unit. I use Android auto and the only issue I ran into was saying "OK Google" I didn't realize the phone needed to be able to hear me to start the process. I had placed the phone in the center console so it couldn't. Haven't tried to play video yet.
