First of all, this is not a 120hz TV. Sony doesn't say that it is, box doesn't say it, books don't say it. I don't know why every retailer is listing it as one. But I've spent about 8hrs today on it and here are my thoughts. +Screen was flawless backlighting even. No bleed to be seen. Sexy slim bezel. Well built. But hey..its a Sony. + Easy setup. I plugged this TV in and after a 3 step setup and internet connectivity (built in WiFi# it was good to go. Took about 10 minutes. +Smart features. I like that it has a Netflix button and other options, pretty good for this price point #$650) +Picture. Not 120hz but feels like it. Smooth images. I watched a few movies on this thing and I have to say Sony's color production is beautiful. I felt like I was watching things for the first time. It also seems to handle the 1080p24 cinema input well. No judders. The True Motion isn't that great, there are Jaggies that will outline some cluttered fast content with it turned all the way up. Hopefully firmware update will fix it. I'll update this review after I watch the Patriots game Sunday. +Lag. So I couldn't find a 'Game Mode' setting on this thing however the latency is minimal it feels 30ms'ish. Played Destiny and barely noticed a difference compared to my Asus 1ms monitor. Sony is know for good gaming TV's and this doesn't differ. -Settings. I've only seen 3 picture settings. Vivid, Standard and Custom. Custom is the only one that allows you to use advanced settings and modify the image to your desire. That being said there are only basic controls to due so. Gamma, brightness, color temp and hue are present but color spectrum controls are not so RGB modification isn't possible. It took some time and effort to get the image perfect for me. Out off the box thou the picture is pretty. -Sound. At this point of the 21st century pretty much every TV will have obsolete sound. Yes it has speakers, no it wont blow women's clothes off. Get a sound bar and sub or some Klipsch surround sound like me. -Not 120hz as advertised. Not sure if I'm gonna return it on principle or keep it cause its so pretty to look at. Its kinda like dating a stripper. :P All in all for a $650 price tag I find it worth it for my basic Game Room TV needs. I figure I'll go low budget with this TV for a year or two, by 2016 4kUHD content should be in abundance and the technology for it cheaper and better. I'll save up for my Theater Room TV till then.

Background - I have two of these mounted side by side in our family gaming room (yes, my son’s and I are lucky enough to have convinced my wife to allow us to actually have a gaming room and then get a couple of big TVS for it!). We replaced older Sharp LED LCDs. We typically drive PS4, XBOX one and XBOX 360 content across these. We rarely watch movies..... so we use these primarily as gaming monitors. In general, we are really happy with this monitor with respect to our budget. Are there better TVs? Yes Are there cheaper TVs? Yes Is there a better gaming TV for your Money? No PROS • TV latency is excellent for its class. - When using the right HDMI input + Game mode, the response time is around 29ms. - This is fantastic for FPS gaming. This is a MUST have feature if you are using a TV for gaming. Additionally, this is much cheaper than ANY other TV period (as of Q1’15). • Style - Very thin bezel makes it extremely attractive for wall mounts. Again, another plus. • Color when taken into context of cost, is very good. Sony has always been known for great color and image processing and while this is by no means is this equivalent to the high end Sony TVs, it’s very good relative to cost. • TV weight – Its under 70lbs, which makes it easy to find a low cost mount. CONS • Black levels are inconsistent across the screen. If you are watching a relatively dark or all black screen, you will see inconsistencies that kind of look like white clouds in a black sea. This is not unusual for this type of LED Dimming and again, is appropriate for the cost. If you want consistent blacks with great local dimming, you will end up paying much more. • In gaming mode, image quality suffers some but imo its completely acceptable for the mode. If you plan on using this primarily for TV and Movies, then I would keep it out of gaming mode and focus on a color balance that you prefer with the lighting in your room. Switching back and forth from gaming mode to Movie or general TV mode requires a few different steps on the remote. Again this is not unusual, my Samsung and Sharp TVs also require many steps to change TV modes. • Construction – it’s a little flimsy, likely due to cost reductions. It is HIGHLY recommended to mount this TV to avoid issues. The TVS stand, while acceptable, is not ideal and doesn’t hold the TV firm. When using the right HDMI input + Game mode, the response time is around 29ms. This is fantastic for FPS gaming. A must have and much cheaper than Black levels are inconsistent across the screen, which is not unusual for this type of LED Dimming. Color is good while not great. Style - Very thin bezel makes it extremely attractive for wall mounts.

I don’t normal write reviews. However, I recently was looking for a good deal on a TV and was lucky enough to find this Sony. I was a bit skeptical because of the negative reviews then I noticed a lot great TVs get one star reviews. So, this is for those who are unhappy with HD TVs out of the box. This is true for any unit. You have to adjust the picture to your viewing source. Out of the BOX HDtvs are set for BlueRay viewing. You cannot watch stand def or streaming products in the same picture mode as Bluerays. This Sony has a pretty simple picture mode with three settings; Vivid, Standard and Custom. IF you are streaming or watching standard DEF switch to the custom setting. Once I did all my streaming sources looked great without any further adjusting. There are a few people who have posted their setting preferences and if you are looking tweak your picture take a minute to look at what they posted. There are some good tips. With that said Blue Rays on VIVID mode are phenomenal. This is a great TV. If you are looking for 60” this is a steal. I will say this, 60” maybe a little big for my room so make sure you research the size and get one that fits your viewing space.

As a devoted plasma owner, I was worried about moving to LED but my fears proved unfounded. The out of the box settings leave a lot to be desired but with some determine tweaking, this set looks pretty darn good. I an experiencing none of the motion issues or soap opera effect so many others complain about, even leaving the Cinemotion and other similar settings on. Much brighter than my plasma and super sharp. Be aware there are some cons. 1. Very narrow viewing angle. If you need a wide viewing angle, skip this set. Picture washes out very quickly once you get even a little off center. 2. I am running into some occasional lip sync issues, especially when playing blu-rays but I think I can resolve those with my receiver settings. 3. Smart functions on this set leave a lot to be desired but I have seen worse. Stick to Roku or an Amazon Fire TV device for that. (No native support for Amazon Prime anyway). Still, how much can you really expect at this price point., Given that this cost me about $300 less than the 50 inch Plasma I bought four or five years ago, I am pretty happy.

I have had this TV for 3 days and I have been putting it through my viewing test and so far so good! I was looking for a 65 " but I figure why not get this one (only 5 inch difference) instead of dealing with the Black Friday shopping frenzy and I am glad I did. Watching several action movies (Mission Impossible, The Matrix 1&2 & more) even my Sunday football games and this TV had no blur or clipping images. I would have given this TV 5 stars but the internet apps are not abundant and the ones that are available (except Netflix ) are not that good. Also keep in mind that you will have to calibrate the picture to get the best viewing possible as it is not that good out the box. In closing, it is not the best picture I have seen on an LED but for the price you can't go wrong. I am satisfied with this purchase so far.

Besides the fact that it has the name brand "Sony", I found this a very capable and clear HD 60" TV for both viewing and gaming. However, this was only AFTER changing the default settings. For some reason, when you choose the defaults or reset the defaults, you get a terrible picture, with "soap opera effect" that doesn't work for gaming or any "live action" TV viewing. But if you use the right HDMI MHL port (I understand there is only 1 on this TV and it's on the side not the back) and turn off all the "special effects", set the mode to gaming, and fool with the other "contrast controls" to your liking, this model set gives an excellent picture with black blacks, little ghosting, little delay for gaming and a great High Def picture for sports. I specifically don't use the built in "Smart" features, but even without it, this is a great TV for the price I paid.

This TV has an amazing picture quality. It supports YouTube and Netflix. Movies look amazing. In fact if you are new to 120hz+ refresh rate it's going to take some time to get used too. Another great feature is the USB port on the TV. It allows you to watch any movies you may have already purchased and have a digital copy of via external hard drive or flash drive. That being said it lacks on the "Smart" side. The apps aren't up to par with similarly priced models from different brands. It doesn't support Hulu plus, Amazon prime or any other big name streaming service (aside from Netflix). Sony really seems to have missed the bar on apps. Most of the apps are junk I highly doubt you will bother to use 98% of them. Overall because of its picture quality and the nice USB port I gave it 4 stars. (more like 3 1/2 but it doesnt allow for half stars)

I was looking into replacing my existing rear projection TV but with no hurry to make a decision since it still worked great for its age. I was comparing the different models from Vizio, Samsung, LG, Sony and others. I knew it had to be no less than 60" class, I didn't want to go with a smaller screen. Prices do start to skyrocket once you look above 55". Comparing image from the many I looked at they really were pretty close in performance. Then just by chance this Sony went on sale! So I pulled the trigger. Like I said before, performance is on par with others. The web interface and apps seem cool but I really don't use them. I use the TV to watch our shows and play PS3. Which by the way the gaming experience is awesome when coupled with this TV! I'm happy with my purchase.

I walked into the store for a Samsung 50 inch TV on sale for 549.00 and the sales rep asked me to take a look at the Sony60 inch on sale for 648, though I was skeptical at first for buying without seeing the TV am glad I did. I hooked it up last night and the picture is perfect, I know many had wondered if the TV is 60 or 120 HZ, for the price and picture quality it didn't matter to me. I went back this morning to get another one for my basement and they were sold out. great TV for the money.

It's big "for the room", never big enough, 'till it wraps around the walls LOL. Great picture, sound ok, I think I'll keep it. I could use another HDMI port or 2. Xbox one & 360, cable box, BluRay player, computer, the usual anymore. The stand isn't tall enough for my Sony sound bar to sit in front of it without cutting off the bottom and remote sensor, when will they move them to the top so this is not a problem without wall mounting or redesigning your stand. As a side rant who designs stands? I don't want to box my electronics in and overheat them, nor do I want a baby or 3 y/o to reach them ( remember peanut butter sandwiches in VCRs?) a floor level shelf? What were you thinking?

When researching for a TV this Sony met all my requirements; 55-60", Smart TV, LED, 120Hz, 1080P, good price, mostly good ratings. I've been happy with the picture clarity, colors, ease of viewing from different angles and in daylight viewing. The Netflix one touch button is really handy, as is the Mobile connect feature where I can view content from my cellphone. The only issue I discovered after purchase was that the Smart TV interface did NOT support Amazon Prime Instant Video, confirmed this with Amazon and Sony support (ultimately this is Sony's fault). However, Best Buy came through and helped me get an Amazon Fire Stick which ultimately is probably even easier to use than the TV interface would have been.

You need to calibrate this TV. It's a mess hooking up as a computer monitor if you don't. I've been using it while hooked up to a receiver, which is in turn hooked up to multiple game consoles and PCs. Lag comes from using motion compensation, which is not needed. When processing is off, lag is low- So low I've no problem playing pinball videogames. See the settings I provided in AVS Forum http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/1760225-sony-60-kdl60r510a-2.html#post29354778

I've owned the Sony KDL-60R510A for more than a week, now. Excellent picture quality and it's a lot of TV for the money! I've been having bad luck with Samsungs lately and I opted to try out a Sony. Look around online for picture settings. Makes a big difference. Only problems are that it has only 3 hdmi connections and the smart tv features are lacking. Works great with the Roku 3, though. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

TV plays games like a boss! That's right no lag! I play games like Destiny, Monster Hunter, Evolve Final Fantasy, etc. You get the picture. Can now watch TV like a champ. The only downfall here is I hooked up Sony surround and it doesn't sync like a BRAVIA should. My previous TV was a Sony 40 inch and whatever I turned on first would have that BRAVIA domino effect and slowly everything Sony would turn on afterwords. That and it only has 3 HDMI ports. That's more my problem than the TV's though. So due to my laziness I've given it a 4 out of 5 but still with that said $800 for a 60 inch Sony Bravia is a pretty good deal!

Overall the tv is good for the price. The picture is not crisp clear like I would prefer for it to be and the colors are not vivid enough for me, but it's a pretty good picture. We don't have HD channels on our cable service but we do get HD with Netflix so when we are watching Netflix shows and movies the picture is much better. When watching tv with our cable service the colors are just a tad dull. The motion enhancer helps a little to avoid the blurring, it took me a while to figure out how to adjust the motion enhancer settings, but once I did that the blurring went away.

When we first turned the TV on, the power indicator LED lit up, but no picture, no sound, and no remote control response. Took TV to Geek Squad - worked fine at store (Murphy's Law). Took TV back home - same problem. Put TV on stand and "wiggled" everything - picture suddenly came on, and has worked fine for thirty days. Makes me nervous - something inside this TV is definitely loose. Will probably fail in just about 12 months, after warranty expires. Picture and features of the TV are great - as I would expect at this price point and specs.

I have always wanted a second 60 inch tv for my bedroom and this TV was a perfect fit. It looks a little bulky for a LED but it is light as a feather for its size. Had no issues hooking it up, has built in wifi and multiple apps pre installed. To watch Netflix just have to press a button on the remote. Great picture quality for the price, people complain the quality is not great but fail to mention the price of the TV. In the end you get what you pay for and this TV is more than worth it for the price.

For the price, this tv can't be beat. I usually only buy Samsung or Sony. I needed a quick cheap replacement to my Samsung TV that recently died. I looked at the 4k tvs but time warmers signal is not that good. I bought this tv to get be by until 4k is more widespread. I didn't think we would use the smart feature but we have regularly. I other good thing about this tv is 3 HDMI ports. The last one had 2 and I got sick of switching the Wii and DVD player. Now each has its own input. This tv is definitely worth the money.

I brought this home and my family freaked out... we just upgraded from a 42" to this monster, and they love it. Initially, every live action program looked like a low-budget BBC production, but we discovered that this was the result of image smoothing. We disabled that feature and we're now really enjoying the show. This would be five-star had that feature not been on by default, or if clear documentation were provided to point out the potential issue.

The TV looks great works perfectly however the only issue I have with it is the fact that Hulu plus and Amazon prime are not supported on this particular model as I was confirmed by Sony tech support. Netflix and all the other services work great but those two. I simply use my PlayStation to access the missing services but if you're looking for a TV that plays all the online services this is not the one for you.
