To begin, by far the best price you will find for this Sony model IS at Best Buy. Secondly, if you are NOT tech driven or need a TV like this save more money and grab another model (Non 4k) because quite honestly the 4K output in the world is not up to where it needs to be for so many models and or sales people to be pushing it onto an individual looking to buy (Like myself) So I pulled the trigger, (Tech individual here) made the purchase. Everything this Sony model offers is outstanding. I waited weeks now to give my review because honestly it needed a good run through first. The quality is GREAT, I have no devices which currently put out 4k picture, however the picture is still crisp and blows me away. The Intelli remote is something else, way to make someone lazy Sony, I can talk to the remote and it jumps the TV to do what I want whether surfing the net or accessing an app. And finally, the amount of apps the TV is compatible with is surely going to keep me planted on the couch for some time. Installation onto my wall mount was a bit tricky as I did not have bolts to fit the rear mounting points nor does the TV come with anything but not a big deal, an easy trip to the store. TV is very thin and took up no space at all compared to my "1st Gen" flat from Panasonic that was an eye sore on the wall with how much width from the wall it would sit.

I got this tv about 6 months ago. When people say get the tv with all the bells n whistles, this is it. The best thing about this tv is HDR. Gamers out there need HDR for the new consoles coming out. If your not a gamer then you can still take advantage with 4K Netflix as some shows have HDR. The settings are crazy customizable. You will spend a long time customizing to what fits your viewing needs. It has also dropped in price since. This is due to the new 900c series. Sony has made a huge comeback and this TV shows what I mean. I love that it has the Google play store. I can download tons of app store on the tv. I got a JBL sound bar to go along with it also from Bestbuy. Amazing experience. Enjoy!

    Fantastic Day, Average Night

I had this 65x850d for a month, testing multiple content types at different times day and night. Colors are very nature like. The 4K upscaler is the best I have ever seen in a 4K TV and Sony X1 chip is fantastic in this department. When the HD content upscaled to 4K, one would really find it difficult to state whether the content is in HD or in 4K. It's that awesome. This Sony tv is fantastic to watch during the day with room filled with light. But the same cannot be said the the room goes dark. Those who like watching in dark rooms, I would not recommend this TV. I have had tuned almost all the picture settings to get deep black levels but only ended with frustrations, finally giving up my efforts to get atleast a better dark content. The dark scenes or the night scenes appears faded or you can say that the blacks are actually grey. This is little bit inconvenient for me as I enjoy watching my TV/movies in the dark room. The viewing becomes worse if subtitles are ON where the TV had to pump in more light to get the subtitles appear bright in the foreground while the background with the night scenes, one can see the dancing brightness levels on the TV. Same is the case when in HDR mode, the bright(subtitles) and near dark (content) seen flexing muscles with each other. This was very uncomfortable for me. But I think that this is the case for almost all the TV brands that are based on the edge-lit display technology. One way to mitigate this is to have the subtitles turned OFF during night viewing. Or just have an external light in the room to compensate the black being grey effect or the light bleed problem. This tv is perfect for those who like watching with sufficient light in the room to rule out all cons from edge lit display technology. Overall I like Sony TV for it awesome picture quality. The screens attached was taken in dark room that shows the light bleed problem. I am giving it 3 stars for the awesome day time viewing. But reducing 2 stars for night time viewing. I think if I am are spending 1.5K on a TV I would expect a decent overall performance.

Great television. Love the picture and size for the room it's in. Color is very good and clean. The set up was very easy and connecting to wifi and other components was fast and simple. The remote is simple and you can talk to the remote to find things easier. Great value for what you are getting

I looked at a lot of sets over the holidays and decided to go with this offering from Sony via their Bravia line of 4K TVs. Though it's not OLED, the HDR really adds a nice touch when viewing Netflix or AMZN Prime HDR/Ultra HD shows/movies. Only downside sometimes I noticed is that when viewing HDR from Netflix, one does not have any freedom from selecting any other form of Picture Adjustments via Action Menu of TV. As a result, I'll notice some lighting back-and-forth when within the same scene. Despite that, the granularity of detail is spectacular when viewing 4K/Ultra HD/HDR content. Esp. nice is when viewing NFL content or football for that matter. When objects are zoomed in, you really feel you're in the game. When the camera zooms out, I do notice some fuzziness when action is uptempo. However, it is still a great set to start for a 65' 4K TV. I used both PS3/PS4 on this, and it's just amazing to view - as both components do not offer 4K content, the TV still upscales enough to make it worthwhile. Setting up - it took no time to get it going, as I have everything running thru a Sony STN-1000 receiver. So long as you remember all your connections (HDMIs, Input/Output, etc.), I had no problems whatsoever. Another hiccup would be the remote - it's unfortunate that Sony includes a remote that cannot adapt to anything else other than proprietary-Sony. As a result, I bought a Logitech Harmony 700 remote that now controls this TV, receiver and cable box.

We watched this TV for several months and finally purchased it in November 2016 when the price dropped. Wonderful experience with TV so far and very impressed with sharpness and vibrant colors. Seeing the difference in the Best Buy store is definitely worth doing if you are on the fence between this and other manufacture options. My only beef is about the remote control and the fact that it isn't back lit and is a bit on the cheap side. Very hard to use when the room is not lit, so we purchased the Logitech Harmony 650, which is back lit and also has functionality to control multiple devices and can be programmed to launch the multiple devices with one click, i.e. start the TV, sound system, and DVD player to watch a movie. There is a learning curve in the Logitech remote, but well worth it to get a "one remote" for all devices option. Great experience with Best Buy and the purchases - definitely can recommend.

The week of black Friday I scooped this TV. Although I had to wait until the following Monday to receive it I was very happy with the product that arrived. I use it in my living room, sitting 8 feet away or so and you can't see a single pixel, the way it should be. The lighting in the room is poor but that doesn't matter much. It upscales well depending upon the quality of the show or channel you are watching. I have antenna and had barely any issues hooking them up. 4k content is unfortunately limited, which doesn't allow you to necessarily get the most out of the TV at all times. But I bought it with the intentions of it being a practically future proof device for the next 5 years, *knocks on wood*. Sound quality was better than anticipated, expected the speakers are seemingly shooting into the wall behind my TV. All in all if you can get it for a deal like I was able to, by all means don't hesitate.

The picture on this TV on display at Best Buy looked amazingly beautiful. I know the signal is 4K and there would be a possibility that I would not get the same result once I had this model in my home. When the TV was up and running in my home being fed a DirecTV HD signal, I was really disappointed in the quality of the picture. My 7-year-old 1080p TV's picture looked better. None of the new TV's picture settings seemed to make the picture really good. After a few weeks of tweaking the picture mode settings, I have come up with a decent enough picture that I can live with. I will say the 4K content that I have watched that is on YouTube is pretty amazing, so perhaps this purchase will be satisfying if and when 4K content becomes more widely available. There are a lot of apps and things that this smart TV can do, but honestly, I could care less about the apps and just wanted a great TV picture experience and so far I have not been extremely impressed. I'm hoping that over time, I will be more excited about my purchase of this TV.

Excellent picture, simple set-up, broad range of features. Have been buying Sony products for years and this TV is the best of all. PIP (Picture in Picture) would have been a great feature given the fact many home security systems can be linked to TV.

Purchased this TV at the first of the month and wow it has a great picture. The upscale it does is fantastic. Sharp colors in 4K. But you better be some what of an IT person to set it up with internet and wifi. Lucky for me my son is a wiz at it.

I went to my Best Buy looking for a TV set and gave a smart young guy a summary of my desires. He took me right to this TV and explained why I should buy it. To summarize, of course I want a 4k because that is the future but I also want this Sony because it has the Sony X1 (I think it was) up converter (again verbage). what this is for is to put the pixels where they belong on all of the old existing software that is out there and that is most of what you are going to be watching. So if you chase down all of the specifications and view the picture but still don't know which one to choose, choose this one because it does a great job with old programming and new 4k programming. And buy a Sony soundbar with a wireless sub woofer, you won't regret it. You need one that has HDMI connection to the TV. What a difference!

Excellent TV - very few "gotcha" points

The television is outstanding, and there are very few "gotchas" that I have seen. The TV works as designed, is reliable (thus far), and has a great picture. The most annoying aspects of the TV, honestly, are things most people will never have to contend with. First off, and most concerning when I first purchased the TV, was that the digital audio pass through did not work correctly. I was taking the input signal from a variety of devices (via HDMI), then taking the television output of digital optical audio to feed my older Bose head unit. At first, I could not get the audio to sound right. Using all of the different settings with the Television did nothing. I did finally come across an audio output setting within the television's Android menu (different than the main television audio settings) that resolved my problems. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous about this aspect, and was getting close to boxing the television back up until I came across that Android setting and resolved the audio problem. Until that happened, all audio being sent out of the digital optical audio output from the TV was fuzzy with no audio depth whatsoever. If anyone else is experiencing this problem, you must hit "MAIN" on the TV remote, scroll to the very bottom of that screen, then go to "SETTINGS". This will take you to the Android settings menu. Then scroll down to "TV", then to the right to "SOUND". I then had to change the Digital Audio Output setting to "AUTO 2" - and my problems were resolved. The second problem I experienced was with calibration. I use the Spears & Munsil BluRay Calibration tool to go into the picture settings and set every aspect of the television's picture to be at the highest quality possible. The menu settings on the television tend to block you from being able to see large portions of the screen while going through the calibration routines. Also, each calibration is done by input, and there is no way to copy your settings to another input. Therefore, once I had calibrated input number 2 using the BluRay tool, I then had to write down all of the settings and manually enter those into the other inputs. However, this is a design issue that will impact a relatively small percentage of people...but if you are as picky about the picture quality as I am, then you should keep this in mind and make sure you take the time necessary to get it right on this device. My final "gotcha" has to do with the built-in Amazon video application. This is the only application on the television I have experienced any problems with. NetFlix (4k), YouTube, Hulu, etc all work perfectly. However, the Amazon video application does not allow you to always pause your videos, or rewind / fast-forward. If you are successful at getting the video to pause, when you attempt to restart the movie, the restart location is not where the film was paused. It may jump back 15 seconds, or it may jump back 12 minutes. Can't seem to figure out a rhyme-or-reason for this behavior, but it still exists even after the latest firmware upgrade. Overall, I am extremely happy with the TV, and the problems that I have experienced are small ones that most likely will impact very few individuals. I provided the detail for those who really dig into something before making a purchase of this size, so you can learn the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hope this helps you with your decision.

I'm beyond happy with this TV. Incredible picture, very convenient & compatible remote, multiple ports for sound bar/consoles/cable box, and a bunch of useful apps (still haven't even gotten through looking at all the video apps). This is my first smart tv and it has literally revolutionized the way my family watches tv; it seems like everything is accessible using one button or one voice command. Also, extremely thin tv, takes up much less space than my previous boxy tv which is nice. Easy to setup, and the stand is much sturdier than you'd expect given the size of the tv. Takes some time to figure out how to navigate to everything, but that's just because there are so many things you can navigate to, which is A-Okay in my book. Awesome product, would definitely recommend it.

I needed to replace a 65 DLP as my old units picture couldn't compete with the brightness and contrast of LED. After testing Samsung,LG and Sony I went for the Sony unit and it was definitely the best choice. While all had a great picture, it came down to menus and apps for me. Samsung's one connect was more of a hassle than an asset, and LG did not have all the apps I wanted and most cheaper models lack any form of true HDR. Android TV on Sony gave me flexibility for playback of all forms of external media and the built in cast function is something I can't live without. Yes you can buy an Nvidia shield or chrome cast or ROKU to add all the apps you want to any TV but as far as a clean and easy setup I had to go with this one. Only thing better for me would be OLED.

This tv is the best quality and amazing beautiful picture is just to say .. wow everytime u watch a 4k movie or 4k content like youtube and netflix. It also upscales everything like it says that u watch and is amazingly true. For this size of tv sony has done it always great with there screens. Highly recommend getting its the best your gonna get for the size and money. Not mentioning everything else that it has bulit into the tv itself. Voice activation is nice to have to makes things looking up stuff easier than ever. One thing i did not like is how the hdmi 1 and digital optical has the output directly from the back but is no big deal to me just be careful and take your time hooking it up and wont have a problem. All i got to say if u buy this tv u will not regret it.

4k content is great on this display, as well as upconverted HD. Sharp and bright with lots of adjustment range. I had an issue when using the included base as the TV leans back a few degrees. This doesn't work out well for me because I use a 3 foot high fireplace/TV stand for the TV, so it aims too high. To fix this I put 1/4" riser under the back leg to make it stand straight. Others talk about this puzzling design in the forums. I was looking forward to Android TV, as I like android on my phone, but there were too many bugs to deal with. I ended up purchasing a Roku Premiere+ and no longer use Android TV. A few bugs I could deal with, even having to do full reset once in a while, but this was terrible. Tried Googling for answers and workarounds but no way to work through all the issues. Want a stable setup so my wife doesnt have to deal with unusable system when I'm gone. The Android voice command thing was nice, especially for searches. Will miss that. If TV was available with no built-in smart TV, that would be better. Other than that, i like it.

I purchased this the day before the Super Bowl, Feb 2017. Set up was easy with 2 people, it recommends two people to set up on the stand. The android smart setup only took 10 minutes to go through and download. You need your router password and I had a google account already so in no time the tv was running. The picture was not great right away, I did some trouble shooting and found out my cable box was set to 720. The last year with my over 10 year old Sony Wega SXRD HDTV was in 720!!! I fixed that and the picture was great, sometimes too good. You should not sit so close, if your putting the 65' in a small room and you like older movies it's going to look grainy. Blue ray movies and video games look fantastic! You can't go wrong with this tv.

The picture on this TV is fantastic. I have it hooked up to an antenna, and mostly stream Netflix and Amazon video without any trouble. The set up was a breeze, and the instructions for anything else I want to do is equally simple. Before I made my purchase, I debated between this TV and the Samsung UN65KS8000. In the store, the Samsung picture was a little brighter, so I wondered if it would be better. Ultimately I chose this Sony, and now have it in a large, bright room and there is no problem with TV brightness. I am glad I made this purchase. The only negative I can give is that I don't really care for the remote. Some of the buttons are too small, and I have small hands. Not sure how someone with large hands would use them.
