I give it a 4 star because of the price. If you find it on sale then it makes the purchase a little easier to justify. We were trying to decide between this one and the Samsung 9000. The sale price we bought it at helped that decision and we do not regret it! Probably the only thing I can think of that I do not like so far is the rear panel covers. It is made to have all the cables hidden but I do not like the way they fit and snap in. Plus the layout for all the HDMI inputs places one on the outer portion under a separate cover area. Just made it a little more tricky in routing the wires around the rear. The picture is vibrant and clear! We could tell a difference right away on the colors and clarity of DVD movies, DirecTV channels, and games. Our next purchase will be a 4K DVD player..... Easy to navigate the menus and make changes. We have it on a TV stand but can be mounted to the wall but I do miss the ability to swivel on the base. The TV we are replacing had a swivel base (Samsung) to allow turning the TV to different viewing angles. I wish this Sony had that ability but it uses a different type of base. TV is sturdy using the base on the stand. Very satisfied with this TV!

Makes everything look better. HD is taken to another level, while 4k broadcast shows feel lifelike and three dimensional. Blacks are black. Movement and edges are crystal clear. Normal blurs on HDTVs like clouds and smoke are spot on. Easy to set up, easy to use. Picture looks great watching from any angle or distance.

Nearly perfect 4K TV

The Sony XBR X930D 4K TV is nearly perfect. It's two best features are its color rendition and its ability to upscale lower resolution content. I marvel everyday at the gorgeous color palate this set produces. This is true not only on 4K content like the Ultra HD HDR blu-ray "Life of Pi" but also on simple, 1080i HD programing from DirecTV, like a sit com rerun on TBS. The picture detail is so high, you can almost feel the textures in animal fur or the patch on an astronaut's shoulder. I was initially apprehensive as to how the set would handle live sports, but am happy to report the motion is flawless. Speaking of motion, it was fairly easy to bypass the "soap opera" motion effect, if you prefer more natural movement.
Nothing is perfect right out of the box. I strongly suggest watching on the "cinema pro" picture mode initially. It will get you 90% of the way to a great look. From there, adjust a few parameters for your taste or spring for the Geek Squad Calibration. I had mine calibrated and the technician did a beautiful job of correcting and fine tuning the color balance of the set along with other parameters that make for a great picture. Even after calibration, my Geek Squad tech encouraged me to live with the Custom setting for a while and possibly make tiny fine turning adjustments over time to make the picture perfect to my eyes. Black levels on the Sony do not dip as far into the abyss as a high-end OLED set. But you will never get more natural skin tones or a more colorful, refined image than on this Sony.
I'm not one to spend much time (if any) on surfing around the apps on my TV, so I can't give you much insight on this feature. If your intention, however, is to watch 4K HDR images from an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, 4K streaming services, or even regular 1080i content from a satellite provider, you'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful picture than the one produced by the Sony XBR X930D.

It is an amazing TV! The picture quality is of top quality. It looks like you could walk onto the football field as you are watching a game! The colors are so vivid and clear. We can see the exact shades of any color displayed. Sony has really exceeded our expectations. My husband researched various brands of 65-inch televisions for around three years. He is so glad that he waited for this one. I am, too! You will not be disappointed.

The Sony XBR-65X930D has a beautiful picture. It requires a little tuning and there are so many options. Once you have it set up, you don't need to touch it again. It even does a good job up-scaling 480p to 4K. From what I understand, the TV uses a database to select the proper up-scaling rather than a pixel algorithm to get the best picture possible. The 3D is awesome and works with every disk I could throw at it. The TV doesn't come with glasses. You'll have to purchase active glasses. Sony TDG-BT500A work best. There are also quite a few apps such as Netfilx, Amazon Video, Hulu, Vudo, and others. Netflix has some 4K programming. Amazon does as well. All of the apps work great. There is another feature that I wasn't aware of. The TV even plays games. You can hook up an older PS4 controller (the newest version doesn't work). There are game apps that are specific to televisions. Some are free and some are paid. I would recommend a sound bar or entertainment center and a 4K 3D Blu-ray player such as the Sony UBP-X800.

I am a self proclaimed tech nerd who did massive amounts of online and in-store research prior to this purchase. This TV is only second to the LG OLED series.
The Samsung's are great but at this size the vibrant colors were a little too much. In store this TV looks darker, and maybe duller than the competition, but remember that they mainly play demo content that will show the TV at its best. When watching actual content (movies, TV shows, sports) this TV is amazing!
I am also a huge fan of the Android TV interface. Makes it very easy to access the included apps.
On a side note, the sound quality is good, not great. A sound bar is not absolutely necessary, but it sure adds to the enjoyment factor.
My last TV was a Sony DLP that I had for 10 years. I got compliments on the TV up until the day I got rid of it. I was just tired of replacing the bulb every few years. That being said I think I'm a lifelong Sony customer (unless we are talking about smaller TV's, then I like Samsung, lol!).

The colors on this TV are incredible. So rich and vivid. The TV itself is very thin. For the size and to be so thin, it's a tad heavy, which is very surprising. The stand it sits on is a bit cheap and flimsy, which is surprising, but I know the trend is to mount TVs on the wall, which this would be excellent to do, but our TV sits in a custom built-in bookcase. Can see the TV well from off the viewing side. Even good with an extremely bright room and glare. The sound is absolutely awful!! I can't begin to tell you how awful the sound is. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for that. I also know the trend is to get separate audio/surround sound. So be prepared that once you spend a lot of money on this TV (which the viewing is great!) that you will need to go on and buy a compatible surround sound. You will be so disappointed if you don't.

The picture on this tv is one of the best I've seen for the price. Set up is simple. Only problem I've seen was the placement of the hdmi inputs make some things (Firestick) hard to plug in. Other than that it is an excellent tv

This TV has a great, bright, sharp picture but it exhibits some odd behavior. When I first got it, it would only sync with the external speaker system 60% of the time. I would have to turn it off and back on again to get it to work. After a software update, it now connects 90% of the time. I still need to go through the same process, just not as often. It reboots often for no apparent reason. What you are watching is interrupted for about a minute while it does this. If you pause the DVR for a couple of minutes, it switches the sound to the low quality internal speaker system and you have to go into setup to switch it back to the external speakers.
When it is working properly, it is a joy to watch. If you can live with the quirks, it is a fine TV.

coming from a 50 inch plasma to a 65 inch 4k, I'd be surprised if anyone making this kind of move could take issue with the picture on this TV. Sadly, I now find myself wanting to upgrade the bedroom TV. While there is limited 4k content, the upscaling is tremendous on this TV. if you plan to have this installed over a fireplace, consider the extended warranty. I had issues with the TV and soundbar communicating and still not sure which component was at fault but I couldn't reach behind the TV to test the connections so having the extended warranty meant not having to pay a $200 trip charge. I guess I actually paid the trip charge in advance by purchasing the warranty but given the cost of the TV and combined with the degree of difficulty should troubleshooting be needed, I decided to suck it up.

I went into the store planning to purchase a Samsung TV and the Best Buy staff helped me see the Sony was a good purchase. It is a great picture. I love the thin bezel and the black is really black.
My only challenge is with software issues that keep coming up. I also purchased the Sony sound bar and multiple times the two devices have stopped working together. Reading online to fix the problem I find that I have to factory reset the TV to get it to work with the sound bar. That works but it's a pain in the ...
Overall an excellent picture with only software issues.

Great 4k tv, happy with it. I do have some clouding issues but after calibrating clouding isn't really noticeable, other then that this is a great tv with alot of cool features. Netflix, youtube videos all look amazing but 1080/4k blu rays look spectacular with amazing colors!

I went to Best Buy with the intention of purchasing a Samsung TV. The salesman that helped me suggested that we look at this Sony. Our previous TV was a Sony and it has been a great TV. It was moved to a bedroom and we brought the new Sony home. So glad we decided to stay with the Sony. Great picture and sound.

Perhaps there are slightly less expensive models that offer a better value, but I believe this Sony stacks up well against the competition if picture quality is your main concern. I went to my local store after quite a bit of internet research, and the Sony wasn't even on my radar. I was pretty much set on an LG OLED65B6P, then, if that didn't float my boat, choose a lower model of LG, or a Samsung. After viewing the Sony I just couldn't rationalize the premium price to go OLED. Nice saturated blacks, good color, good contrast. There can be some "blooming" on mostly dark scenes with very bright images, think a dark sky with a full moon, the LED backlighting technology can't stand up to an OLED, but overall very good.
