Good except for 3D
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't say enough good things about the TV picture-wise, it's gorgeous. Well, there is one. I can't find a pair of 3D glasses, including the BT500A's recommended in the manual, that will pair to the set, so 3D is useless. Sony support was zero help and I've tried every solution I could find on the interwebs as well to no avail. Debating on bringing this one back because I could get the 850 w/o 3D for a lot less. If anyone out there has a solution, I'd surely appreciate hearing it! Can't recommend because of the issues with 3D, there are cheaper options if you don't need it.

SAMSUNG FAN MAKES POOR DECISION...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I consider myself a technology geek who has to always have the latest and greatest technology, regardless of how soon my last upgrade occurred. I previously have only purchased Samsung TVs ever since TVs became hangable. I already owned a Samsung 65in 4K TV but wanted to take advantage of the new HDR features of the latest models. I did THOROUGH research on this TV. Finally I was ready to pull the trigger and leave my love of Samsung behind. I ordered 2 of Sony 930D sets. One in 65in, and one in 55in the day they became avail for online purchase. No store even had them physically in stock...BIG MISTAKE! Never and I mean NEVER have I had to put SO much work into calibrating and tinkering with the settings to this degree on a Samsung TV to even get a SATISFACTORY picture. Something was always...off. This thing can get very bright with ease, but then your colors are washed out. It can even get near OLED dark, but then you lose a lot of detail. From a great distance, the problems aren't AS bad, but anywhere near close or mid range seating and the picture shows pixels like an old 1980 Super Mario game and I haven't even touched on the ultra THIN sound. I will say that the quality of native 4K content is impressive because I also bought the Samsung new FULL 4K Blu-Ray Player...but 90% of what we watch today ISN'T in 4K right now. I'm returning BOTH sets and going back to my love affair of Samsung TVs. Stick to Playstation Sony!

I'm warming up to it...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start by saying I had really high expectations for this TV...probably too high. I had a Philips 50 inch plasma for over a decade, and although I really liked that TV, I was excited to upgrade to a TV with the newest features (Smart Apps, 4K, HDR, etc.). I should also add that I'm not a die hard tech guy...but I'm not a total dunce either. After a couple of weeks of research I narrowed down my options to two TVs - this one and the 65 inch LG OLEG. The price and the negative reviews of how the OLEG had some really bad gamer lag led me to decide on the Sony. When I finally got it delivered and watched cable TV I was sorely dissapointed. The picture felt very pixelated, the colors felt off (even after calibrating there seemed to be a yellow hue in all of the shows that I watched), and what has been most aggravating is the way the motion on the TV looks with and without the motionflow technology on. Honestly, I assumed a 4K HDR TV would blow a 720p plasma out of the water but I really do miss my old TV. I didn't realize how hard it is to beat the picture quality of a good plasma. Anyway, It's been a few weeks and I guess the TV is growing on me, because the picture quality and color seem to be better. The picture motions is still annoying AF but I guess I'll have to deal with it at this point. In the end, I think I really do have high expectations when spending this much money on a TV, but I will also put part of the blame on this TV for just not living up to some of the hype. With that said, true 4K content on youtube looks great. It's just that cable TV (with an HD box) and other shows on showtime, netflix, etc. can look kind of goofy because of poor picture quality and that dumb soap opera motion.

Died in less than 6 months!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this model in mid-Sept of 2016 and had it installed by Geek Squad within the week. It has great PQ and works well in my bright living room. I still prefer the overall look of my Elite Kuro PRO-151FD despite being "only" 1080p, but that thing is a beast, I was not comfortable wall-hanging it, and my living room windows would cause too much glare, but still- the Sony was a great looking TV. I used it only as a monitor for a surround sound system, so I cannot comment much on the TVs apps or SQ of its built-in speakers. Without any warning, it died sometime between March 4 2017 at noon and March 5 2017 at 6pm. It worked without a glitch until then but simply ceased to power on. Checked all connections, checked the outlets, all signs point to power supply failure. The weather has been cold and dry, so cannot even guess on a lightning strike/power surge. It basically looks like simple equipment failure. It is of course still under Sony's factory warranty and I got the 5-year Geek Squad protection plan, so it should be fixed soon, but I cannot give more than 3 stars to a premium product that fails in less than 6 months. My 8 year old Elite and my 11 year old Panasonic plasma TVs have been used extensively and survived moves from Maryland to Hawaii and back and still look as good as the day I bought them, so this Sony failing in 5.5 months is a disappointment. I realize with any mass-produced item, things are going to have glitches, but given the sudden failure of this and a few other Sony products I have owned in the past 3 years, I am starting to wonder about their quality control.

Best TV under $2000 peroid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this tv 2 weeks now and if I had to choose one word to describe it WOOOW! the picture quality is amazing, colors are outstanding, I was really leaning towards a Samsung ks8000 or ks9000 but this tv is has a better picture. The 4k HDR is just amazing waching Netflix in 4k is an experience I've had with none of my Samsung hdmi tv's remote could be abit less clusterd but hey nothing is perfect. So If you want the best picture quality and don't want to spend more than 2k for OLED tv this is the one for you.

Absolutely stunning! Traded up from older 4K
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I opted to get rid of my 1st generation Bravia 4K for this model and spending the extra money was worth every penny. Not only are the colors and picture on this TV stunningly beautiful, the thing is thinner and looks awesome on my wall. I will always buy Sony since they know TVs and 4K, plus with all the smart features on this TV it makes even better. Spend the extra money and buy this model! It is worth it!

Awesome TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am super impressed with the picture quality of this TV! I use it primarily for gaming, and it really brings my Xbox One to life even more! Super excited to see 4K movies one this tv when the new xbox comes out in August. The only down side I have is the picture is not that great when watching cable television through Charter. doubt that's the TV's fault though. So far I love this TV!

Best Edge Lit Out There
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at the OLEDs and though their picture was phenomenal, I couldn't justify the price difference after reading the problems plagued by the OLED. The picture is fantastic with deep blacks and vivid colors. I use the Cinema Home setting. It has an almost calibrated picture right out of the box. This UHD TV was $3299 a year ago and at $1998 now it's darn near a steal.

Happy customer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my share of research prior to purchasing the Sony 930D. Yes the black levels are not Oled black however they are pretty close. The up scaling, realistic vibrant colors and contrast is amazing. The tv was easy to set up and configure. I've not used the 3D capability and cannot comment on this function. However 3D wasnt a selling point for me and honestly a function I would not use.

Beautiful colors and good HDR but.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason I give this tv 3 start is because of a bending frame and already a few dead pixels, I read a few reviews before about this problem, but I decided to pull the trigger and get it, this TV is amazing except for this problem and a few dead pixels, I contacted SONY to see if there's a solution for this, but no one call me back or anything like that, the tv is just 6 months old and with this problems, this is unacceptable, now im stuck with a product that cost me a lot of money and Sony costumer service is not responding to me, a friend of mine has the same tv with no issues at all, and his tv looks amazing, if you're lucky enough to get one of this tv without any issues, is like winning the lottery.

Amazing TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as an upgrade from a Samsung 58" Plasma. The picture quality is amazing. Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to return this TV after a several weeks. Great picture and great product...however after 2 lengthy phone calls with Sony, the Amazon Video app advertised on the manufacturer's box was not able to be downloaded on the tv. Great disappointment.

Super close black to OLED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a New home and needed to upgrade to a larger TV to mount above my fire place. Had been looking at the vizio P series and some of the Samsungs but decided on Sony based on reviews and good reliability with sony tv's in the past. Out of the box the box the tv is great quality and with no tweaks picture is great. I reccomend stranger things episode 7 on netflix in 4k to show this. Blacks look inky when eleven is in isolation tank and water rippling. Only issue I have is remote with directional buttons close to home and back buttons causing accidental clicks. But I can deal with it and I have fat fingers so it might just be me.

Another Sony Lover bites the dust
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You've never met a more loyal brand buyer than me with Sony. I started with the Trinitron so my loyalty goes back to the 80's. I have purchased small ones, large ones, new ones, Gorilla ones. The picture on this one was very good (2 starts) but not as good as the Gorilla TV. The features have been diluted and I miss some of the old ones (PIP, Mute, etc) but when I had trouble with this one after 4 months, I started to see the light. I purchased it at BB after listening to the "you can bring it back for any reason" pitch. The truth is - you can't if it's still under the manufacturing warranty. After discussing that with the Geek Squad, I called Sony like a good little Sony loyal. "We will send someone out within 5 to 7 days", I was told. More than a month later, no action. From other feedback on the web, the power brick is a common failure. They don't have power cords anymore - they have a power "brick". Send me one and we will be off and running... but no. Wait - wait - wait. I promise as God is my witness - it's a Vizio from Walmart or Costco next time around. Sony you treated me poorly for the last time. Now I'm spreading the word where ever I can.

Poor 3D Quality on overpriced TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main reason I bought this model was the 3D along with other modern features. 3D is increasingly rare, but I still want to watch the 3D blurays that I own. I also wanted to upgrade to 4K hdr and 65". The 3D performs very poorly with a strong cross talk or ghosting effect. If I had known this I would have bought a Samsung which has better critic reviews. Otherwise the tv looks good, but not worth $2000.

Great Picture. Terrible Tech Support.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV on April 14, 2016. My initial impression was that it was the best picture I'd ever seen. 3 months later the TV just wouldn't turn on. I called Best Buy who said it was past my 45 day return period and I would need to contact the manufacturer. I contacted Sony on July 17, 2016 who quickly identified the problem as a faulty power adapter and shipped me a new one. The new adapter arrived timely but after using the new power adapter the display would still not turn on. I called Sony on July 20, 2016 and reported that the issue was not resolved. I was then told that the part had to be ordered and I would receive an email from the technician within 1 business day. Called again on July 27, 2016 and was told the part has not been received. Called again on August 1, 2016 and was again told the part has not been received. I'm a little concerned at this point as I paid $3,500 for an unusable display. They gave me a reference number of e63710554. I don't know how they can possibly know what "part" needs to be replaced without even having a technician look at the display. I have a pretty strong feeling that if/when a technician attempts a repair it won't resolve the issue and Sony will give me a remanufactured television as a replacement which will undoubtedly end up broken again. I have been a Samsung owner for 10 years and have never had an issue with a single display. Buyer beware. If you purchase Sony and have a problem, you may never get a resolution.

great picture HDR 4K UHD is awesome, 3D is not
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What prevents a 5 star rating. This TV should not be given a 3D rating. 3D is abysmal. The shadowing and crosstalk makes it nearly unwatchable. I have tried every setting available and I can only make it worse. The other issue is the black levels are good not great, which I knew prior to purchase. You really do not notice the black levels while content is playing. Adjusting the brightness and contrast helps a lot. Other than that we do not watch too much 3D. Regular 2K looks great, and 4kUHD HDR looks stunning.

This Sony TV has a defect.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Sony TV in April 2016 and it currently has NO POWER. Sony acknowledged a defect and is sending me a new AC adapter. They have refused to send anyone to my home to look at this warranty defect unless the new adapter fails to correct the problem. I have never been so frustrated dealing with a warranty issue. Best Buy at Houston's Galleria store offered zero assistance. Very poor warranty service. When it worked, the picture was great. I will have to hire someone to install the new adapter to my wall mounted TV. I paid $3,500 for this TV in April. I'm concerned about future reliability. Very poor service on the part of both Sony and Best Buy.
