Sony makes the best OLED TV compared to the others

I was lucky and purchased this Sony 65 inch (for my small bedroom) on sale over Thanksgiving holiday. I received excellent customer service from the sales at Magnolia tv. They were very helpful, informative and steered me in making the right purchase with the Sony.
What stood out most to me is the clarity and sharpness of the picture. When I went to look at the Sony OLED TVs in the store, I could see the images in detail vividly without my glasses on, even when watching tv at home, I don’t need my glasses, the picture, colors, depth and detail are truly amazing.
I like the thin design of the tv, when it’s mounted on the wall, it can get close to wall, about 4 inches with the Sanus Advanced Tilt wall mount. I don’t care too much for the stand, it has two flat feet on each side of tv. If you’re not going to mount it on the wall, then go with the Sony A9G, which has a center stand.
Also, the interface is easy to use. It takes some time to navigate through the settings, but once you are familiar where everything is, it’s easy to use.
I tried different hdmi cables too. They really do make a difference. I would go with Magnolias recommendation on their cables. The picture is cleaner, and the colors are more vibrant.
I have to say, I made a mistake of purchasing the LG CX oled based on the critics reviews and family recommendations; it definitely has a nice picture, but it doesn’t compare to Sony.
Sony definitely has the best overall picture, detail, colors, depth, dimension and clarity.
My next purchases will be the Sony A9G. I’m positive I’ll be satisfied with the purchase, as I am with my current Sony A8H. I think it’s definitely worth paying the extra money for the best brand tv.

I've been wanting an OLED for years and originally eyed an LG CX before ultimately purchasing the A8H on sale. I have zero regrets and quite frankly am blown away buy overall picture quality of this display. Everything is a 10/10. Contrast, black level, color, motion and upscaling are all fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this to anybody who is serious about picture quality. Don't let the claims of burn in our dim picture of OLED products deter you from buying. One look and you'll understand.

I have wanted an OLED tv for a couple of years now. Prices have slowly been dropping and when I saw this Sony on sale I jumped on it and it does not disappoint. The colors are so vibrant and detailed, absolutely not motion blur when watching sports etc. I was slightly worried about some reviews saying the picture is not as bright compared to a QLED or LED tv. My tv is in a fairly bright room but with the picture mode on “vivid” it Is more than bright enough. In fact I turn the brightness down to 25 or 30 as I find it to be a bit too bright at max. The picture is simply stunning when playing a blue ray and Playstation 4 Pro has a new level of detail and coloration. I have a full Klipsch surround sound system with Yamaha receiver so I can’t comment on the sound quality. If you are spending this kind of $ for a tv you should at minimum have a soundbar. Bottom line, do not hesitate to get this tv......it is amazing!

Replaced a Panasonic plasma with this thing and man what a ridiculously good picture this is! Straight 4K video is absolutely beautiful to watch. Upscaled Hulu and YouTubeTV is really good as well. As you’d expect with OLED the blacks are pure black where it looks like the TV is off on a full black screen.
I’m not an Android fan but I do like the interface and on this Sony its responsive with no lag whatsoever so I’m now a fan. I like the variety of apps that are available for it.
Airplay works great although the screen saver comes on when streaming Airplay video, as if it doesn’t detect that you’re playing something. That seems like a bug and hopefully will be addressed with an update.
The acoustic surface audio, where the sound is generated by the screen, sounds great especially when listening to dialogue and the bass from the rear is pretty good. Ran it that way for about 3 weeks before getting a new AV receiver.
My one main complaint is with the remote. While I love that it’s Bluetooth, so you don’t have to worry about pointing it at the TV, I hate that it isn’t backlit. Come on Sony!
Overall I couldn’t be happier with this TV. I highly recommend it! If you’re on the fence at all just buy it,

Excellent television. Purchased this for my upstairs entertainment room and absolutely love it. I also own a Sony XBR-65-x900h, and both TVs are fantastic. The XBR-65-x900h edges out the A8H in considerations of value for an everyday television for netflix and sports, as it boasts a very easy to use UI and solid voice recognition. However, if you are looking for an all around viewing experience, this television is the way to go. The stunning panel and color accuracy is unparalleled across the board, with color saturation from Vizio and LG providing a sometimes more vivid, but overall less realistic picture than the A8H. As far as upscaling, this TV has everything you could want. The TV's ability to upscale 1080p resolution makes it hard to tell when you are watching true 4k content (except maybe on certain demo videos and high budget movies) because the picture always looks that good. The tv design is wonderful, with a thin frame and bezel making the content appear edge to edge.
Overall, any TV over 2,000 dollars will never be a must have. TV technology has surpassed the point where individuals have to shell out big bucks to get a good picture. Nevertheless, if you have the budget for it, and you want the best of the best (including 8k televisions), then this is it.

I wish you could still get a plasma, but here we are stuck paying for the latest/greatest next best thing. 10 years and my 51" Samsung plasma was developing lines in part of the screen so it was finally time to retire one of the best. I can't stand the look of most of the new t.v. types that have come out, none still have the refresh rate or really just the great realistic non motion blur look that plasma displays had. Enter OLED. In some ways better, in a few ways not so much. Sometimes what you are watching just looks fake/too realistic, it's kind of hard to even explain. I think it may be what was used to film it or maybe even the lens size/aperture/etc... Sometimes if you don't have a great video source the up-scaling from the processor does funny things that don't look so great, might be partly due to this huge 65" display. But man oh man when you have a true high def 4k+ source and the right video playing man does this thing blow the doors off of anything that my old plasma could display. The black is insane with the right source/signal and I don't regret buying it for now at least :) Let's hope this is a 10+ year t.v. though and I'll be a happy man. It definitely excels with new videos that are shot in high def. As long as you set it up right! I think most of the presets are overkill for these eyeballs.

Really liking this TV. When it comes to picture quality no one is better than Sony and this specific model proves it. It may not be one of their master series but it does have thier best processor plus various other features that are normally reserved for thier master series. Key notes are that it's a OLED so you know you get the best from darks and brights, additionally I've noticed that this TV comes out of darks better than any other TV I've seen or owned. It does use Android TV but it's the newer version which is definitely better than the old interfaces, way easier navigation and more responsive. For those interested in gaming it's a mixed recommendation. There is one HDMI 2.1 port but it does not support 120fps nor VRR so if you are looking for those features they aren't included. Even so 4k 60fps is good enough for me, besides HDMI 2.1 is still recent and could be improved on by later models so it may be best to wait in general if HDMI 2.1 is a desired feature. In conclusion if you want the best picture quality out there for your movies, TV shows, and games this TV is for you. It's sleek, easy to use, has amazing audio on its own, and easily a strong competitor with even more expensive TV's.

I chose this Sony Bravia OLED tv over other LED types because the picture quality is noticeably better. The contrast level of this tv is excellent. The design of OLED means that the screen doesn’t need back-lighting which is what failed on the tv that this unit replaced. In addition, I couldn’t be happier with how easy this tv was to set up.

I write those short and sweet reviews that you don't have to break out a technical manual to understand.
I also bought a separate stand to elevate the screen instead of a wall mount.
Installing by Geek Squad was well worth the price.
My previous TV was a Sony 55 inch four years ago. Great picture that started an annoying picture problem.
Anyway, researched OLED TV choices and couldn't pass up the discount.
Picture is perfect when viewing HD and 4K content.
Color is outstanding out of the box and when I say the black is black is an understatement.
Contrasting between colors outstanding as you would expect in this price range.
Watched a couple, correction, about 10 different YouTube videos on this and other TV picture comparisons.
Watched the Superbowl and had to marvel of the clarity of the live sports program.
Wife is a big Netflix watcher and streaming HD and 4k HDR and Dolby Vision is terrific.
Is also has a built in Screensaver too so no worries about burn in of an OLED screen (minimal issue even without Screensaver).
Very happy with purchase.

As I write this review I have had the Sony for about a month.
The A8H 65” OLED TV is awesome! I purchased it to replace a 3 year old LG OLED C6 series that had developed burn in. I also have a Samsung QLED Q8F Series 65”.
The Sony was set up was easy, and the menus are logical and easy to navigate. The TV interfaces with Apple HomeKit for turning it on and off and switching inputs but that seems to be the limit of the HomeKit capabilities at this time with my current set-up.
The sound from the TV's built in speaks is actually very good, much better than any other TV I have owned. I will likely be adding a Sonos Arc or Bose 700 system with a sub in the near future to make it even better.
The Sony A8H picture is absolutely spectacular! I find it far superior to my Samsung QLED Q8F. I purchased the Samsung about 18 months ago but I missed the dynamics and depth of image of the OLED panel that I had enjoyed with the LG OLED before the burn in. Even with an HDMI feed from a cable box, the picture on the Sony is excellent and motion is smooth. It is truly awesome when viewing video from a streaming service using the built in apps or from my Apple TV 4k box.
Overall I am totally pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this TV.

Admittedly, this TV is pretty expensive and there are cheaper models. However, Sony is really a world class maker of electronics, and you pay for that quality. In head-to-head, the Sony Bravia Line outperforms LG, and I say this OWNING LG OLEDs as well, so this is not meant to be elitism.
OLED is the best picture out there for practical use, and yes, I am aware of the newer 8Ks coming and have little doubt the OLED 8K will be the big thing in another 2-3 years. However, there is almost zero content produced in 8K and the industry will have to revamp yet again to make that happen and with the global economy being what it is, that could take a while as well. Since I am not interested in seeing a pimple on a gnat's gluteus in glorious 8K, I think 4K is a good standard for yet years to come.
If you can afford it, and it is pricey, and if looking to make the jump to OLED, Bravia is the best.

This is our first OLED in the house I was a bit timid about purchasing it due to the risk of burn in. We decided to get geek squad protection just in case because they cover burn in.
Bought this for my Wife for her new Xbox Series X. I know it doesn’t support HDMI 2.1 but she doesn’t care about high refresh rates and the fact that at least at this time there’s no games that she plays that even support it.
My hope is this being Sony’s High end TV for 2020 that they’ll add support for HDMI 2.1 but I’m not holding my breath.
I have a 2017 Sony 900E and I thought the picture on that was amazing (aside from the haloing) but compared to this TV it’s night and day. The contrast is amazing, perfect blacks beautiful HDR. It doesn’t get as bright as the 900E but the room where hers sits is dark and it doesn’t matter.
It’s the Best time to buy this TV $1000 off retail.

I'm not going to repeat some of the specs and other features in the other reviews. I'll review what I perceive as the difference between this and my previous high quality LED Samsung TV (lightning, RIP).
So, you see these fancy OLED TVs in the store and they look great. My previous experience was once you got your TV home it looked great but no quite like the content they display in the store. Well...
This OLED is AMAZING. YES, there is a difference, and yes it's $$$$.
1. This picture is black, black, black, wow what contrast.
2. Upscaling, works great!
3. I wondered why an expensive tv like this didn't have 3d. Well the picture is so sharp and the refresh rate is so crisp, it will give you motion sickness.
4. This model uses the screen as a speaker and it works great with very full sounding sound and better bass than my previous TV.

I am not a tv snob, but I can tell a difference. I can say it was a nice upgrade from my Sharp 3D 60 inch. It does not seem as bright as it did in the store, but my room does have windows, which is where the experts say a QLED is best for a bright room. I think I would have been happy with a QLED too, but with the Black Friday sale dropping the OLED $1000, I’m very pleased with the purchase.
The Sony Remote control is Bluetooth too. I have an older Klipsch SB3 IR sound bar that does not play well with the Sony Remote. I was not able to get it to work with the Sony universal remote. I was able to get the older DirecTV remote to work with the TV instead, which was a little disappointing since I wanted to use the newer remote.
If you wish to wall mount it, that can be tough over a mantel. The screen is very thin and fragile; which makes it very difficult to maneuver with the small bevel. If you are a do it yourself type of person, just know you will need an assistant. I would not attempt a high mount without help.
Overall, changing from a Sharp to a Sony was a little difficult, overall not a deal breaker. Despite it not being as bright sir was in the store, the 4K shows or HD stations look amazing. If the remote were more user friendly, I would rate it a 5. So far no complaints, but I have only been viewing it for 10 days. Hopefully this view point will not change.

The picture quality is good enough but not worth the price. What really bothers me about this tv is the system or software they use. Trying to use the streaming services through the tv is a complete nightmare. The system is super laggy and 50% of the time it just freezes up and crashes. It’s probably only worth it if you hook it up to cable or an Apple TV which defeats the purpose of a smart tv right?

Replacing a Panasonic VT50 plasma tv which was a great tv .I had it moved to the bedroom the oled is close that you can get to a plasma. This tv has better blacks than the plasma and better picture overall with 4KHDR and Dolby vision. If you want more pop and brightness vivid settings works good for DirecTV and in a bright room.standard also works . For viewing movies cinema mode or custom are better also in a dark room. The best settings for Dolby vision is Dolby bright. The settings out of the box are very good but I will have it calibrated in the future for expert bright and expert dark. The sound is ok the A9g is better but does not matter to me I have a surround sound system with Dolby Atmos . The picture seems a little better than the A9g. It has the same x1 ultimate chip with some new features added.Dolby vision works great viewing 4K movies on my Panasonic db820 4K blue ray player.I have not yet tried Netflix mode I do not have Netflix activated yet.
