I wanted great picture quality. I got it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a panasonic P50s60 plasma from best buy back in 2013 and wanted to upgrade to 4K for my basement/home theater. After extensive research on YouTube and many visits to see the displays in person, Oled was the best option for my needs. I am concerned about burn as I was with my plasma, but I still have it and still works great! So, I'm hoping for the same level of durability with the A8H. Long story short. The picture qualyis excellent out if the box. I use it for mostly movies and single player videogames. I was concerned for the lack of HDMI 2.1,but I only play single player campaigns so ALLM and all the other acronyms don't really concern me considering I'm upgrading from 7+ years on a 60hz plasma. I didn't bother connecting a cable box to it, so it only has two jobs. The Google software is very smooth and has a variety of apps anyways. I expect google to continue to evolve over the years, so in the long run this TV should serve you well.

Love the OLED picture quality. Great for HDR movie
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is absolutely stunning !!! I got it on sale for $2000 (65inch) which was an absolute bargain. The deep black levels and contrast on the OLED is excellent. Beautiful colors and sharpness. I also love the android tv interface (some love it some hate it). Like all other OLEDS , it does lack brightness compared to LED TVs so if you’re putting it in a super bright room it may not be a good fit. But don’t think that it’s dim either. Our living is decently bright and it is fine , I’m just guessing if your room is all windows it may not be the best choice. The other thing is motion handling could be better. There’s a lot of judder with motion enhancements turned off. Luckily Sony provides a lot of settings to fix this so I was able to adjust it without too much soap opera effect. Also if you play games , I would go with LG CX if you want oled. But for TV and movies , get this one!! The only one that beats it is the new Sony A90j but it is double the price. So I’m happy with this overal at $2000 as opposed to $4000.

Sony - 65" Class A8H Series OLED 4K
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing the research and the good Black Friday Deal, I picked the Sony 65" A8H OLED 4K TV. I'm glad I did. There are a lot of 4K TVs to choose from. The online reviews are accurate. I agree it is for watching movies. I went into the store and salesperson helped me finalize what TV to buy. The speakers are in the screen which I didn't realize. The sound is great. It looks great off. It really doesn't need a sound bar, but the stand can be raised for one. And the stand is really easy to assembly. They just pop in. Watching 480i TV looks good, some stations better than the others. 780p looks very good. 1080i looks awesome. The remote is good and moving through the browsing menu is fast. A lot of Apps are available. I bought a 4K Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is for the HDR and the movies look amazing using it along with the sound. HDR10 is very comparable to Dolby Vision. One thing I noticed, I lowered the sound with Dolby Vision (29 to 39 for HDR10). The normal Blu-rays look awesome. It upscales to 4K great. Very happy with the TV.

Upscaling, plus a setup tip
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The upscaling with Sony is fantastic. The TV virtual speaker is actually rather impressive, with voice clarity that is superior to my surround sound’s natural voices. OLED pictures look almost 3D because of their subtle shading and colors together with Sony’s excellent rendering of the picture. Here is a setup tip. The TV would not send sound back to my existing Home Theater through the HDMI-arc because the TV HDMI is a newer version HDMI than the surround system’s v 1.4 HDMI. So I added an optical cable. Still no sound, until I took the HDMI from the ARC enabled socket and put it onto another TV HDMI socket. Then sound came through fine. I also switched the TV to sound to the middle setting of sending a maximum of 5.1 sound out so that any technology like Dolby Atmos would be decoded by the TV (since the surround system pre-dates that technology). I then had to re-sync my various components with the TV so the TV would look for the components on the correct HDMI instead of the ARC enabled channel. This allowed me to retain use of my legacy surround sound system.

Glad I paid more for Sony OLED over LCD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn between spending more on a smaller (65") Sony OLED TV or a larger (75") Sony LCD TV and I decided to go with the OLED, and I am so glad I did. The contrast is so amazing, it makes every picture look sharp. The Sony TVs are all fantastic, I am actually replacing a 6 year old 55" 4k LCD TV. The color and clarity of upscaled content is always well done with Sony image processing. 4k content with HDR is amazingly clear. My friend with a 4k Samsung asked me why her picture doesn't look as good as mine does with 4k content. That's a Sony OLED for you. A couple of CONS that I work around, no easy way that I know of to use the TV as a center channel speaker for my home theater, yet. Android TV is slow and ad laden. I use a Roku with fewer ads and faster response. So all in all, I am using the TV for the picture alone, and with Sony OLED it is completely worth it!

Excellent choice!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We decided to up our game and pony up for something with better reviews Than our previous sets. Sony was the always at the top of our list and due It’s due to Consumer Reports reviews as well as our personal experience with other top brands. Bottom line is anything Sony we’ve purchased over the years was either sold or donated and when those left the house all were still working. 3 of the 4 Samsung’s we’ve own ended up in the dump, including a 2yr old 4K 65’ The picture is the best of any tv we’ve ever own. The blacks are just great as are the crisp colors. The Samsung’s has great pictures as well, but not like this. I was A little miffed at first about the lack of an app for YouTube TV, but just recently it has been added so we are complete. The set has also has paired seamlessly with out other components as well. The real bonus was just 2 days later the price dropped and Best Buy was hood to their word and refunded the $500 difference. We couldn’t be happier with Best But or Sony than we are today!!

Best 4k picture quality and motion on the market
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am incredibly happy with the performance of this incredible OLED. The A8H is by far the best picture quality I have ever experienced. The motion flow technology works great for sports as well as fast moving action scenes in movies. The upscaling of 1080p content is fantastic. My xfinity cable has never looked better. Watching shows on Netflix like Narcos or Ozark is incredible in Dolby Vision as well. The only negative is lack of HDMI 2.1, but I wouldn’t buy any HDMI 2.1 tv over this one. Simply amazing.

Best TV we've ever owned
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a smaller, 1.5 year old 55", 4K, Sony. Moved it to the bedroom and replaced with this Sony in our living room. What an amazing difference. The black is really black! In a dark room, with a single image in the center of the screen, it's like the image is floating in mid air! The detail is amazing. We looked at the other manufacturers of QED and OLED TVs and didn't see any major differences in picture quality, in the store. Had bad luck with an LG, in the past, and nothing but good luck with Sonys so, went with the Sony for an extra $150. This is the best TV we've ever had and we have had a few! Dont play video games so can't speak to the refresh rate and image retention but have had no problems with 4K high action video.

Sony OLED A8H Good and Bad News
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good news: Purchased a new Sony OLED A8H 65" and had it delivered. The television lives up to the hype... great picture... very fast controls. Sound is ok... seems like it takes a higher number to get the same sound that my older Sony LED Bravia was able to acquire in a lower number. Weight is light enough that I could put it on the same stand that my 55" LED was on. Set up and hook up was relatively easy. I used a youtuber's settings instead of factory. Bad News: I have Spectrum cable and most of the movies that I see including both DVDs and regular cable, etc. end up with a black bar at the top and bottom or on the sides or all the way around. Despite what they say... this cannot be corrected. My old Sony LED had the ability to zoom wide, regular etc...easily from the remote...but, this one will not. You can go in and find "wide" and find "zoom"..but, they do not make the picture fill the screen..they simply distort it. I have some time left to return the A8H..and because of the poor aspect ratio that I am experiencing, I am considering a return.

MUST SEE!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is incredible. Sony is super impressive in picture clarity, interfacing, and sound. Before I make a purchase I research excessively, and I believed I could buy a TV for less than $800 and be happy. I’m so glad I went into the store to compare all the brands in person! I spent hours with unbiased tech person giving me specs and watching them all Samsung, TCL, LG, Visio, and can honestly say this far surpassed any of them - just was hard to swallow price point. I got it on a sale day and never looked back!! I cannot stress enough the motion control, rich blacks, clear graphics, fast android interface which is surprisingly easy to use! I would’ve regretted the motion control of other TVs - after 15 mintues your eyes would hurt!! I’ve been a Samsung and Apple lover for years, and I’m changed. Superior picture clarity above all others with the best processing power. Sony has the right tech!

Great for upscaling
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful. Was lucky to be able to do a side by side comparison with the SONY LED version of this. Both were good, but the OLED picture looked much better even in a brightly lit store. Was strongly considering the LG, but since I have no desire to game or hook this up to a computer, I will not miss out on not having the HDMI 2.1 ports that seem to have swayed many people away from this TV. We have had this a few weeks and we are still playing with all the options. Android/Google TV is snappy and convenient (we are a Google household). The upscaling from our cable box is phenomenal. We also liked the slimmer profile of this TV compared to others. ONLY draw backs are the wide set leg stands (which is now a non issue since we decided to mount the TV on the wall) and the remote. Wished it was backlit and had radio/bluetooth instead of IR.

Top notch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv is wonderful and is at its best when provided the right content. Does a fantastic job when delivered 4k content and pretty good job with 1080 due to great upscaling. For those reviewers on the fence, like I was for months, this is a solid pick. Word of warning though, think of this in terms of a monitor. It will only put out what you put in. Its not a miracle worker that will turn old content into this visual stunning 4k picture. But, feed it what it needs to blossom and you will be rewarded. If you are on the fence for a 55" or 65", go with the 65". Also, give this tv about 200 hours (i.e. 2 to 3 months) of use before professional calibration so the panel has time to stabilize.

Amazing TV and great Best Buy customer service
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is beautiful. All of what you’ve seen about it is true. The OLED experience is really deep blacks because there is no backlight, The pixels are either on or off. Standard “led” TVs have always/on LEDs and a grid of LCDs that block (some of) the LED light or let it thru. Nerdy I know, but the net difference is an amazing array of lights and darks with the OLED. The set is super simple to setup and the appearance sleek with a razor thin bezel and panel which make it look fantastic on or off. Cue up some The Earth documentaries on Netflix and it looks like the lifelike demo in the store. And I’ve just got regular HD sources so far yet the upscaling in this set is impeccable. Splurge. Get it (especially on deep sale like I did) and you won’t be sorry. Way to go Sony and Best Buy, who by the way were great to deal with in the store and online.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sony A8H after contemplating and researching the top of the line LG CX vs this model and since I'm not a gamer, I was convinced to pick the Sony over LG and I'm glad I did. I felt Sony has much better build quality than the LG and picture quality while watching content was marginally better. Make sure you calibrate your tv with either Rtings’ settings or even better, the Calman. Android TV is pretty responsive and its app store comes equipped with most of the apps we regularly use. Cons - 1. No HDMI 2.1. If you are a gamer or if you see yourself gaming at some point then pick the CX. 2. Wish the remote had backlit buttons. I like to enjoy my movies in a dark room and it's annoying to search for the pause/play buttons or press the wrong buttons.

The Sony Bravia has Unmatched Color and Sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony Bravia 65” OLED 4K television was an excellent replacement for our old large screen Sony. It had lasted 18 years, so I would never have considered purchasing anything but another Sony TV. When we visited Best Buy, I immediately stated I wanted the OLED. It has breathtaking color and is so easy to operate. Movies are beautiful and the sound is incomparable to our old Sony. No need to keep changing the volume on movies. It is very consistent. A couple walked into the area and immediately commented that the Sony Bravia had the very best picture. Beautiful addition to our Penn State Fan Cave!!!
