    This television was purchases on sale and was an excellent choice. In addition to the excellent picture quality with the new version of local dimming this television delivers, the quality of life improvements google TV integration provides is superb. The responsiveness and speed of the smart TV functions is noticeably very good.

    Great definition and clear image even during daytime (unlike our Samsung Smart TV) and works great with the Sony Bravia soundbar. Still, it has some "details" that we don't love, being the first one the fact that I need to get a Sony subscription to get additional Apps installed (Samsung doesn't need one). Also for some reason it is quite cumbersome to turn the TV on/off. Not sure if it is a remote (batteries?) issue or just the height at which we installed (over our fireplace).

Regarding the need for a "Sony subscription" to install additional apps, we want to clarify that you should not need a specific Sony subscription to install apps. The K-65XR50 uses the Google TV operating system, and all you should need is a standard Google account (like a Gmail address) to access and download apps from the Google Play Store. If you are being prompted otherwise, please contact our support team, as this may be a confusion or a setting issue we can quickly resolve.

      We also understand your frustration with the cumbersome process of turning the TV on/off. This could definitely be related to the remote's battery life or the angle/distance due to the high installation over your fireplace. To troubleshoot this, we suggest:

      Replacing the Batteries: Try a fresh set of high-quality batteries.

      Checking the IR Receiver: The TV's remote receiver is usually located at the bottom edge of the screen. Make sure the fireplace mantle is not obstructing the line of sight when you press the button.

    Upgraded a 10 year old Samsung and moved to the Bravia 5. It ticked all the boxes for me. Had the 4 HDMI ports, legs can be positioned in the center or wide, eArc with Dolby Atmos support. Stock speakers are never as good as a soundbar. These are significantly better than most for stock. The remote is not bad but lacks backlit keys, which by today’s standards is mostly the norm. Especially when you pay the Sony Tax, that is a miss. The picture is excellent. My TV sits in a room that sees anywhere from a lot to a fair amount of light during the day. OLED would be less than ideal for my use case. Clear picture from different viewing angles. Sale price on this model, it was an easy decision. I might not have paid the normal asking price for it because I was targeting a specific budget. The gentleman that assisted me was very knowledgeable and professional. Showed me other options within my budget and this was by far the winner.

    This TV has the best picture of any TV I've ever owned and I've had at least 25 TV's in the last several years. Because I set it up myself it took a little bit to get everything operating the way I wanted, but I am very happy with my purchase. The 120 MHz refresh rate is something you have to see for yourself.

    The TV started to glitch and freeze. I didn't use the Google TV portion, instead opted to connect to Roku device. After signing in to Google and doing all the TV updates the picture is fine. I do notice that the sound sometimes lags, meaning sound and picture do not line up. A system restart usually fixes that, not sure if that's the Roku and TV communication or just the TV in general. It has good colors and I use it in a brightly lit room.

A common solution is to adjust the A/V Sync settings in Settings > Display & Sound > Audio Output.
