Customers praise the 65" Class BRAVIA 8 II OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV (2025) for its amazing picture quality, stunningly beautiful OLED quality, and incredible high contrast. The TV also scores high marks for its black level and ease of setup. The only drawback mentioned by customers is the remote control, which lacks a numeric pad.

The TV to beat for PQ accuracy and refinement

With the exception of a cheap TCL and a Samsung Frame for guest rooms, I've stuck with Sony TVs for the last 15+ years for the picture calibration, ergonomics and overall quality. There's a reason Sony TVs are noticeably heavier than their Samsung equivalent - they are built to a higher standard. Out of over a dozen units across my family, not a single TV has failed - even my 2009 XBR9 is still going strong. So disclaimer that I have a bias towards the brand. I have also purchased 4 other Sony OLEDs - the A8H, A9S, A80J and A80K, and have seen the incremental improvements over time.
I pulled the trigger on this despite the mixed RTINGS review and general consensus that the latest LG and Samsung flagships have some brightness and feature advantages. Initially, I was struck by how nuanced and film-like the picture was - it really looked quite different from any other TV I've used before - but SDR was shockingly dim in Cinema/Professional modes. It turns out there is a critical setting you MUST change - Peak Luminance. Make sure this is set to "High" before you evaluate! I have been using Professional mode with settings close to the RTINGS calibration, with a couple tweaks to taste.
Once set up, the picture quality is shockingly cinematic, natural and refined. Motion is buttery smooth without resorting to any interpolation processing gimmicks. Dolby Vision content on Netflix has a film-like warmth and subtlety to it, with impressive dynamic range between dark and bright scenes. It's not just that brightness and shadow detail are better than my other OLEDs, which they are, but it captures the "feel" of different scenes much more completely. Dusk and nighttime scenes really feel like dusk and night rather than just being dim, and daytime scenes have a realistic brilliance to them. And different films/shows look more differentiated from each other, giving a stronger sense of the aesthetic the director was aiming for. It reminds me a lot of upgrading to very high-end loudspeakers (I'm a wacko audiophile) that have better frequency response and resolution - not everything sounds better (in fact, bad recordings often sound worse), but you can hear so much more range and detail to everything. While I've never used a mastering monitor before, Sony's claims that this is the closest they've gotten to studio quality in a consumer TV resonate - it feels like you are that much closer to the original source. My other OLEDs, while still great, look decidedly more "ordinary" now.
It's my first QD-OLED so I can't say how it compares to other brands or the A95L, but I will say it handles my very bright living room well - it's very watchable in daylight (not direct sunlight mind you) with minimal glare and washout and wide viewing angles. By comparison, an older X900F LCD I had was literally unwatchable in the same conditions. I'm using a Sennheiser Amber soundbar, so can't comment on built-in sound quality. Android TV UI isn't as fast as e.g. a Google TV 4K Streamer, but quite snappy which is a relief given my A8H has become borderline unusable with Android 11. Hopefully the cpu/ram in the Bravia 8 II will be sufficient for a while.
All in all, a great TV that I plan to keep for a long time. Recommended!

Total UI Disaster & Total Picture Perfection

After using my Best Buy Sony OLED tv for a few months, I can honestly give you a clear, concise review. The BAD (NO, THE TERRIBLE) is this Google User Interface (UI), which is a total disaster. This tv is primarily a tv first, but try to figure out how to find the normal live tv IS A TOTAL DISASTER! It's almost impossible for someone unfamiliar with computers such as children or the elderly. The live tv is hidden embedded deep within the UI. Next, you want your favorite channel and punch in, say channel 7, but noooo, you have to enter 7, then decimal point, then 1, then enter. My old Sony tv is smart enough to know that I want a channel designated as 7.1, so it prompts me, but this new Sony has a convoluted Google disasterous UI. So, be warned that this Google software is so difficult to use, and Google forces you to work through paid offerrings that you have NO interest in. Why can't I turn off all of these pay, pay, and pay features? NEXT IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT: if you use an over the air antenna because you prefer to avoid cable tv's hugh prices, that rachet quietly up and up and up, then listen up. In a place where I live (Los Angeles), I would consider LA to be a MAJOR TV NETWORK LOCATION, then realize that this Sony tv ONLY HAS A SINGLE OVER-THE-AIR ANTENNA JACK, so why is that importsnt at all? Some networks in LA have transitioned from analog antenna signals to a new digital system, which would normally not be an issue. However, you won't believe this! You need an indoor (or outdoor optionally, but not necessary) DIGITAL antenna with RABBIT EARS for certain tv stations in LA, such as watching football on FOX, channel 11. But you also need a separate modetn digital antenna with the round, circular antenna for the other digital stations. But remember that there is only a SINGLE antenna jack in the back of the tv!! A big fail! Almost a "deal breaker." Now, let's get to the picture. I have the tv setup with a new Sony 4K/Bluray player, which takes almost 3-5 minutes to startup, but this Sony dister is for a player review. And I have a Nakamichi DRAGON sound bar, with wireless surr ound speakers for ceiling, rear, side, and two subwoofers. If you are considering what to buy for your dream ststem, then run, don't walk to get your DRAGON. But I digress, THIS SONY PICTURE MAKES ALL PREVIOUS MOVIE VIEWINGS OBSOLETE! It is unbelievably great, so much so that your old Blurays or 4K's will need to be watched again. You have read other reviews which have said that a tv has a grwat pucture, but this is better than any picture that you have ever watched, so much so that it is the equivalent to the jump from black& white tv to volor tv...it is that big of a increase in picture quality. Which leaves the incredible disasterous remote control. Oh my gosh, this half sized remote is so bad that I am forced to use the bigger remote from my old Sony tv, as it is that bad. How in the world did Sony match up such a great picture with such a useless remote and an agonizingly bad GOOGLE USER INTERFACE? I believe that you should definitely buy this amazing tv for its pucture, but be prepared for the disastrous UI and equally twrribly insufficient, unlighted remote control. Oh, before I forget, the Google interface to change your settings is way beyond being unusasble, as it is the worst disaster in this tv. Just tey to find some feature to adjust or change, then be prepared to spend the next thirty minutes IN TOTAL, COMPLETE FRUSTRATION? No, it's beyond frustration, it is a cluster! I just spend 3 sessions to attempt to find the switch for my audio between the tv speakers vs. my Nakamichi Dragon! I am not kidding when I tell you that someone unfamiliar with co.purts, or is a child, or is an elderly person, then this Google UI is not for you. But otherwise, this tv picture has a clarity that makes a closeup face appear to be live in your living room. No kidding, it is that good! In closing, buy this tv (but be prepared for deal breaking UI issues). BUY IT NOW, YOU WILL THANK ME!

Hi Fairplay,
We are thrilled that the BRAVIA 8 II’s picture quality has made such a massive impact on your home theater experience! To simplify your experience, you can enable "Apps Only Mode" in the account settings to hide unwanted recommendations, or press the "TV" button on your remote to jump straight to your live channels. For easier audio management, you can toggle between your TV speakers and the Nakamichi Dragon by pressing the "Quick Settings" (gear icon) button, and if you prefer a larger, backlit remote with a full number pad, the Sony RMF-TX920U is a compatible option. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve.
Thanks for choosing Sony.

This TV is amazing and so worth the money! I had a Sony Bravia TV for eight years prior to buying this one and the picture quality was excellent. This new Bravia II model is far superior which I didn't think was possible. Looking at the Sony models side by side in the store helped me to make my decision to spend the extra money. Also, I got a great Black Friday deal. The technology and picture quality is far superior to all of the other competitors. The install was very easy and the intuitive technology made my Sonos surround sound system setup a breeze. I highly recommend this TV.

Wife and i went to replace an 8 year old Sony XBR 65 inch. We were going to jump to a 75inch, even though it wasn't necessary. When we got to Best Buy. The picture on this TV absolutely blew ever TV up there out of the water! I have always wanted a high end OLED. My wife fell in love too. We were sold! Its a 65 inch and was $500 more than i wanted to spend but the quality is outstanding! My family members and friends are also blown away. Its so nice i highly recommend this TV!

We are so happy that you and your wife fell in love with the BRAVIA 8 II! Upgrading from an 8-year-old Sony is a big jump, and there is truly nothing like that first experience with a high-end OLED—the infinite contrast and "pure black" really do make a world of difference.
It’s wonderful to hear that your family and friends are just as impressed as you are. We’re honored to be the center of your home entertainment for the next chapter!

Third-party ratings are only a starting point, and IMO your eyes should be the deciding factor. I stopped by my local BestBuy to compare various TVs from Sony, Samsung, and TCL. IMO, the Sony Bravia 8 II had the best picture of any TV in the store, including the Sony Bravia 8. This TV has amazing clarity and upscaling, and the only comparable TVs were from the Samsung S90 Series.
I also give Sony an enormous pat on the back as their TV stand setup is superior to any other TV manufacturer. The metal TV stands can be installed while the TV is still in the packaging (just slide the TV stand's pegs into TV, then insert the screws), no need to flip the TV and potentially damage the screen.
I have a few minor issues with the TV: The TV is expensive, but that's expected when purchasing a high-end Sony (amazing picture quality and processing). I found the Samsungs (S90 Series) to be brighter than the Bravia 8 II. Currently, the Bravia 8 II is only available in 55" and 65" (which is strange, there aren't larger screen options). The remote is not backlit (this is minor, and most don't use the remotes that come with the TV, but for the price, I would expect this feature (available on higher-end TCLs).
Overall, I believe the Bravia 8 II has the best picture I've seen in 2025/2026. That being said, there are several TVs on the market that would satisfy 90% of the population at a more affordable price (FYI: We purchased a TCL QM7K for our bedroom, and it is a beautiful TV, especially with HDR content; however, it doesn't upscale as well as the Sony).

The Sony Bravia 8 II has an outstanding picture — deep blacks, vibrant colors, and impressive clarity that make everything look lifelike. Motion is smooth, and the overall viewing experience is excellent.
I used Best Buy’s Geek Squad for delivery and setup since it’s a large 65-inch TV, and I’m glad I did. They handled everything carefully, made sure it was in perfect condition, and had it up and running quickly.
The Google TV interface is easy to navigate, and my Sonos Playbar pairs perfectly for great sound. The design is sleek and modern, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend both the TV and the Geek Squad setup service.

Worth the wait. I'm a Movie guy and not into gaming so what I look for in a TV is more on the 'movie theatre' experience. Amazing performance. A tree is a tree and the black/dark scenes are just that, no strange weird shading or discoloration when a screen is attempting to project Black. Sometimes I spend 10 to 15 minutes just watching my Google Photos because it's just fun and satisfying to watch the screen saver high def pictures. I can see the whiskers on my Pomchi. No buyers remorse, no looking at other reviews, case closed. Best purchase of the year and I feel my hard earned money was put to good use.

I’ve owned this TV for about a week and I feel confident that, despite the high price tag, this was an excellent purchase. The picture quality is simply superb across all types of content I’ve played on it, including 4K Blu-Ray films like Oppenheimer, streaming shows like The Last of Us, or live sports. It works flawlessly with my Apple TV and Sonos audio system. And it’s bright. Picture quality remains clear and enjoyable in our brightly lit living room.
Genuinely, I love this TV. $3500 for a 65” TV is expensive, but it’s worth it when I know this screen will be with us for a long time to come.

Where to begin. If you are looking for the best OLED that does not compromise picture quality, this is the one for you.
I considered the flagship LG, Panasonic and Samsung and have to honestly say this beats them all in the picture quality categories. Is there a “Sony Tax”? Absolutely and sill worth the premium.
Super bright in a sunlit room for an OLED.

This TV replaced a 10 year old Sony Bravia LED. The improvement in picture quality was dramatic! I expected that OLED technology would be a step up, but I didn't realize how much. Phenomenal picture, easy to set up. Heard that Samsung and LG may be brighter, but I can't imagine anyone having a problem with this tv's brightness. Only complaints is I wish Sony provided guidance on calibration, instead of having to rely on rtings and other sites. Maybe they have it but I couldn't find. Would also prefer more than 1 HDMI 2.1 port, since one is for earc.

There has been some controversy about Sony's Bravia 8K picture quality, but I can assure you, after a month of watching all kinds of content, that this TV shines in virtually every way. SDR is superb and, by far, where I saw the most noticeable difference compared to my previous TV (Hisense U7K). HDR, tough not the brightest on paper against other flagships, is plenty bright for most use cases, certainly for mine. And the speakers' sound is great, but I paired it with a Sony Bravia soundbar 6 to make it even better. If you're someone who's really into the tagline "Cinema's coming home" (meaning, you watch your TV in a room with dimmed lights and little interference), you're going to love watching content on it. If that is not your use case, there are other options elsewhere. Of course, viewing experience ultimately depends on content quality, and although no TV can perform miracles, the Sony Bravia 8 ii comes close. Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying, in my opinion, this is the best TV money can buy. Sony just downright knows how to make an arguably a perfect TV. Picture quality is 2nd to none. Brightness is bright, but not overly bright, color is rich, natural and accurate. Processing is king, making 720p and 1080p content almost appear like 4k content with so much detail in every way possible. My only grip would be gaming brightness and only having 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs are a bit disappointing for what you’re paying for. Overall, this TV is everything I have wanted from a set. If your budget can swing it, grab one and enjoy one heck of a ride for years to come

This TV is incredibly bright! I upgraded from a 2019 OLED C9 seeking a brighter display. After comparing this TV to LG’s 2025 flagship, I chose the Sony based on the reputation of the Sony A95L, and I have no regrets. The colors from its QD-OLED panel are striking, the vibrant visuals are perfect for gaming. It took a day to adjust to the warmer tones (slightly magenta?), but they quickly feel natural. Compared to an LG C3, the colors really pop. It’s an outstanding TV. The only drawbacks are its premium price and that only two of the four HDMI ports are 2.1. If you have multiple consoles and a soundbar, consider an HDMI switch to avoid cable swapping. Overall, it’s a fantastic TV!

Sony BRAVIA 8 II – 65”
I’ve been using the Sony Bravia 8 II 65-inch for a little while now, and honestly this is one of those purchases where you immediately feel you upgraded your home, not just your TV. Movies, sports, and even regular YouTube videos look noticeably better compared to my previous LED TV
What I loved
1. Picture quality is stunning
The OLED panel with Sony’s XR processing is the real deal. Blacks are perfectly black — not grayish — and colors look natural instead of over-saturated. Skin tones especially look realistic (which many TVs struggle with). Watching Netflix Dolby Vision content genuinely feels cinematic.
2. Motion handling (amazing for sports)
This is probably Sony’s biggest strength. Fast motion looks smooth without the weird soap-opera effect. I watched football and hockey — no blur, no jitter. Even panning shots stay clean.
3. Upscaling older content
Cable TV and older 1080p content looks surprisingly sharp. Sony processing is better than most brands here — it doesn’t look artificially sharpened.
4. Sound is shockingly good for a TV
The Acoustic Surface Audio+ (screen acting as speakers) actually works. Voices come directly from the screen so dialogue feels anchored to actors. For casual watching I rarely feel the need to turn on my soundbar.
5. Google TV is smooth & clean
Fast interface, no lag so far, and recommendations are useful. Voice search works well too.
6. Gaming features
PS5 pairs perfectly — auto HDR tone mapping and VRR works flawlessly. Input lag feels very low.
⸻
What could be better
1. Brightness is good — but not the brightest OLED
In a very sunny room you’ll notice reflections. It’s perfectly fine most of the time, just not mini-LED level bright.
2. Stand position flexibility
The feet placement is wide. If your TV stand is narrow, you may need a wall mount or a bigger console.
3. Premium price
You definitely pay for Sony processing. Competitors may offer similar panels cheaper — but the image processing difference is visible.
4. Some settings tweaking needed
Out of the box it looks good, but to get the best picture you’ll spend 15–20 minutes adjusting picture modes.
⸻
⭐ Overall
This TV feels tuned by people who care about movies rather than just brightness numbers. The picture looks real instead of flashy — and that’s why I kept noticing details in films I’ve already watched before.
If you watch a lot of movies, sports, or play PS5 — it’s absolutely worth it.
Final Rating: 5 / 5 ⭐
Not the cheapest OLED, but easily one of the most satisfying to actually watch every day.

We purchased this tv for a large room with big windows. No matter the setting, our previous tv struggled to combat the glare and really lacked contrast which we were never really able to combat even when taking measure to darken the room. This tv has incredible high contrast, deep deep blacks, and vibrant colors. Those previous issues are totally solved with the purchase of this tv.

Hi AnneJ,
We're really happy to hear that your Sony BRAVIA TV has solved the challenges you faced with glare and low contrast in your large, bright room. Thank you so much for sharing your 5-star rating—the high contrast, deep blacks, and vibrant colors you mentioned are standout qualities of the K65XR80M2. It's fantastic knowing your viewing experience is now just as stunning no matter the environment.
Thank you for choosing Sony—wishing you a fantastic day! DiegoV.

This TV definitely outperforms our older sony bravia. Blacks are true and deep, colors a much more vibrant and we can't get over how well the anti glare screen works! So far we are very happy with our purchase

Hi MiNDGamE,
Thank you for your wonderful 5-star review! It's a true pleasure to hear that the Sony BRAVIA 8 II is a significant step up from your previous TV, especially noting how the blacks are true and deep, colors are more vibrant, and that you are impressed with the performance of the anti-glare screen.
