Just Buy It
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this TV for about a month now and all I can say is I'm completely blown away. The picture is beautiful, great depth, color and it looks great from every angle. I would absolutely recommend the Sony Bravia XR A80J to anyone. I owned two Panasonic plasma TVs when they first came out years ago (one of them is still going strong) and I was always a little disappointed with the LED models that replaced them because the plasma's always had better depth, blacker blacks, rich color and better viewing angle, but this OLED TV is on par with those and on top of that it's 4K. The up-conversion is great as well so everything looks amazing, 4K or not. This is a great TV.

Amazing Quality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Currently i am using it for gaming, PC, and 4K Blu-rays. 9.5 out of ten for the price and the 120hz refresh rate. Contrast and color are wicked fast. No bleeding affects. No matter what the content is it reacts accordingly. Make sure uoi utilize the ARC for the sound bar. Everything reacts the way it should. Only thing that gets me ia that the sxrwen has like a matte finish when the screen is off. Other than that... All around a great television. I haven't witnessed any burn ins or dirty screen affect since owning this one. Sound quality is a little low from owning other Sony products but it is assembled in to the screen so it feels to have a different impact on the quality sound.

Wow
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. This TV is amazing. I'm no TV expert, but we upgraded from an old 43" 2017 Vizio, so this TV is the best TV we've ever had. We went into Best Buy with the intentions of shopping the LG C1 Oled, but saw that this TV had a sale going on that made the 65" only $200 more than the LG. Couldn't be happier with the quality. Once you have experienced OLED, there's nothing else like it. And the sound that this Sony produces is just shy of being sound bar quality. We were going to purchase a sound bar but now feel like it isn't necessary. This TV is in a league of its own, and if you're considering it, I say go for it! There have been warnings of the TV not getting bright enough, but I haven't had any issues with that so far.

Would buy again but Sony needs to fix the software
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the picture on it. The software needs to be worked though. WiFi drops frequently and I have a mesh router sitting right behind the tv. Other than that it’s been a solid performer. The colors are amazing. The picture looks vibrant and blacks are deep and fade to and from different shades of black seamlessly.

Still In Love
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for Black Friday and we still love it 9 months later. My sister has the same size TV as do most of our friends, but somehow they always mention that ours look bigger. I think it might be a combination of the ratio and that it has such a great picture quality. I also love the convenience of a Google TV since I'm an android person and this makes watching YouTube so easy no matter who's watching. It has great sound too. We haven't even bothered setting up our old soundbar yet.

Great TV!! And OLED!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great TV !! I have the 65A80J. As a note I also have a LG 77” CX and LG 48” CX both also OLED’s. From my review you are going to get an honest home review!! Let’s get a baseline, it took me a few good months to get my LG CX’s to perfection. LG does a horrid job at SD type content, played on anything, so I had to use ROKU ultra devices and up-convert all content to Dolby vision output, and in doing that my LG’s are second to none! I don’t use that crappy 60’s standard that others say the producers want us to view it way, that is back in the 60’s look, white is not white , it’s crap!!! Once you actually view the way a new tv should look then their is no going back at all!!!! So now I got that out of the way, Before the new Sony VRR update I could not get this A80J to look no where as good as the LG’s, yes I tried everything. So I used the Sony to do all the upscaling by using the google TV, now I thought I would hate google tv but to be honest, it’s definitely now second to Roku and a close second. In using the google tv, I got the picture pretty good with practically no artifacts in SD content BUT could not get the colors just perfect like the LG’s. I also purchased the A90J remoter that is backlighted and love that remote !!!! Works perfect on yhe A80J!! Then a price drop happened and I just could not justify returning the tv. Just then Sony came out with the VRR update, as my PS5 still does not have it but I really don’t care as I don’t see problems without VRR yet. So now I figure to use the Roku ultra again and low and behold all content unconverted thru the Roku Ultra is now pretty perfect as my LG CX’s !!!! Colors look identical, blacks and gray are perfect on all TVs, others say nothing was done on the new Sony firmware to do this but Sony did something as it has definitely changed!! To the great also. I love the semi gloss on the 65” it works great no matter what you read test environments say. I had a Samsung glass screen before and now I can see the picture with the glare. I did see some image retention during the initial 100 hours but can not see any now. PS5 is awesome on this set, I have not tried the PS5 to my LG’s and don’t care to, as I know I will never see any lag on either. I read others having issues with eARC and ect… but I have never seen any problem after the VRR update with my audio system or anything. Just a note that on every forum you see people having issues with any brand TV. So end result, buy this tv over the LG C1, unless you get the C1 for 200 or more less than the A80J, and I would not recommend spending the extra for the G1 or A90J at all, save your extra money and buy a newer tv 3-5 years down the road when pictures should actually be better than this model. I love my LG CX’s just a very slight tad more over this Sony but I can not get the CX’s in 65 no more and I got this 65A80J to look great now. Now if I was using internal apps then the Sony just blows away any LG. Hope this helps Thank you for reading Whatever you buy , enjoy !!

Happy to have an OLED!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many other OLED buyers, we are Plasma owners. We have a 9 year old 50" Plasma Panasonic, which still works perfectly (with NO burn in). Decided this was the year to finally get an OLED. After much research, the only option for us, was this Sony, 65". We don't game at all. The only snag was, when we plugged in the TV, it came on automatically, for 10 seconds, then shut off for 3 seconds, and kept repeating. I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes and tried again, but the same thing happened. I called Geek Squad and he said, yes, you have a software problem, I'm sending you a replacement. The replacement box was nicer and cleaner, which was a good sign. The replacement started right up, getting started was pretty fast. Seeing OLEDs in a store, on demos, with demo settings is one thing. Seeing it in your home, looking just as awesome is another! I immediately went to youtube and started watching OLED demos, and they were mind blowing. We still use cable, so I was curious how that would look. I had to do a little tweaking to the picture settings, but it looks amazing. The upscaling is really incredible. I've seen a few say this TV isn't bright enough. For us, it was too bright and I lowered the brightness. And this was in standard mode. Vivid is way too bright and, for us, doesn't look good, so we'll never use that setting. I set the brightness to 35 or 40, depending on the show and lowered the color from 50 to 45, and the other setting from "neutral" to Expert 1, to warm up the colors. With these adjustments, it turned out it almost looks identical to the Cinema presets. As great as this OLED looks and as blown away as we were, the biggest shock to us was the sound! We have a 4 year old LG sound bar with sub woofer. While the TV obviously doesn't have the bass of a sub, the overall sound quality was better. We unplugged the sound bar and just use the TV. Our neighbors couldn't believe they were listening to the TV, when they checked it out. Sony is knocking it out of the park on their acoustic technology. We've only had this for 2 weeks, so far, but could not be happier with this TV. If you are on the fence about an OLED, try it out. Breathtaking is the best word for this television!

Anxious no more.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it so far! Still learning the appropriate settings to use. Motion can be tricky at times because there isn't one setting that I like enough to just plug and leave. But the picture is great. I was nervous switching from a QLED, but I'm happy now. Coming from a KS8000 I miss the super bright highlights at times, but the picture is plenty bright for our living room that has moderate brightness. The sharpness is a huge upgrade. I feel like the colors are every bit as vibrant, if not more so. Again, just doesn't get as bright for highlights. Love it!

Sony or Lg
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i had an LG OLED tv it was when they first became available so it's time to go from 55 to 65 inch i looked at the LG C1 and the Sony A80J both sets have outstanding color and roughly the same inputs, but I've had Sony's before and have a soft spot for them, plus a had pretty bad burn in in the LG, granted part my fault for using vivid settings for too long. What it came down to for me was the LG was geared for gamers and the Sony was geared for me. Have had it for a month now and I'm not sorry for my choice. One unfortunate thing is my LG sound bar didn"t like the Sony so I upgraded to a better Sony bar not upset with my choice there either!!!!

I've wanted one since 2008
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've wanted an OLED TV since first reading about them when I was a BestBuy employee in 2008. At the time I was in college and they were exorbitantly expensive. I've been monitoring the TV's in recent years but never had the excess cash or need to buy one. I finally brought myself to get one this weekend and my 13 years of expectations were not disappointed. The black levels are perfect the picture is so true to color. If your on the fence I would say get it and never look back! On a side note if your trying to run Dolby vision or HDR through a stereo receiver you may need to manually switch your HDMI input to Enhanced picture mode for your source to push it through.
