Great picture with a flawed OS

However over a few days my eyes adjusted to the picture quality/brightness and now the brightness is a non-issue even with the lights on in the living room. One note of caution I would say, and for me this does not take away from the experience overall, is that there seems to be issues with android auto the TV OS that is in use. The native apps do not appear to always (if ever?) go to the maximum settings for things like 4k or Dolby vision. Furthermore it is annoying that the OS feels slow, much more so than my older LCD TV which cost far less. Still overall I would recommend this TV if one is looking for a very good OLED experience especially if playing blue-rays/streams that you know will be at the highest settings.

Some minor adjustmenyts will need to be made to suit your preferences but they are mini.al and easy. I have a bright LR and the picture is great. I did change it to cinema and bumped up the brightness a bit which helped. You will love this tv.

A big, bright, expensive 4K tv.

I do not care about gaming, so can't review those features. Not too satisfied about the TV as 'center' speaker. It is weak and I had to return a cable that I specifically bought to connect my soundbar the the TV center channel. The color and contrast is good. I have my TV next to a big window, so I do see some glare...a known feature with OLED's. But to get a Sony at this low price is unbeatable!

The deep blacks and rich colors that Sony’s processor can produce is just absolutely magnificent! It would be a plus if there’s more than two 120 hertz HDMI ports. I originally purchased the LG C1 but exchanged it for this and i am very happy with the decision. The out of the box color accuracy is great and no calibration feels needed. Also, the depth and detail of the picture quality is better than expected. Sony did a great job with this on the A9G as well but this is a step up. I am an avid movie watcher and stream some tv shows so it is the perfect tv for me. I cant imagine the higher end A90J being way better than this tv which has surprisingly bright SDR and nearly 900 nits peak highlights in HDR. Overall, i am very satisfied.

Recently got this Sony because I purchased an LG 65 inch OLED that had power supply issues and it was returned. I like the Google interface much better than the LG ThinQ. Much more user friendly.

You cannot go wrong with one of the Sony OLEDs. Would have gotten the A90J, but the 80J is at such a good price point. A90J will be a little brighter.

Bravia VS LG OLED

That said, it connects to Century Link internet so that software updates are available. The LG version did not. This Bravia seems superior in it's connectivity, intuitive functionality, and though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the LG, the bells and whistles it does have ring louder and don't disappoint. It's a good TV. Though I've only had it for a month, it already has proven more pleasing and satisfactory than the LG. Though I wish the LG had worked as well because the picture was better when first turned on. Though they say I can twek the settings on the Bravia after 250 hours of viewing, I think it's going to be a long wait with an ample reward. That said, the existing picture is so far superior than anything that isn't OLED. Wow!

The color out of the box is phenomenal. I like the colors to look realistic and Sony does a great job at doing just that. This is my 4th Sony TV purchase, going back to 2004 and all of them are still working and looking as good as the day I bought them. I read tons of reviews as well as sitting at Best Buy for a good hour staring at the color, the blacks and the motion. This TV checked all the boxes! This is my 2nd Sony smart TV. I liked the interface on my 5 year old 55 inch 4K led tv so I didn’t expect much to change but I was surprised with some of the enhancements they added. I also like that the remote can control my Apple TV. That was a bonus I didn’t expect until I accidentally sat on the remote. I am happy with my purchase *I have a sound system so I don’t know how good the sound from the tv is

Love my 65 Sony OLED

At first I wasn't sure if I thought the picture appeared to be as good as when we viewed it in the store...lets just say if you didn't know.... There is a difference in HDMI cables and to get all the 4k benefits and clarity you need a 4k HDMI capable cable. Once I realized that....there it was picture pefect! So far very happy, best Tv I've owned! This is a 100% upgrade from the Samung we had not quite 2yrs old and it had a flickering line top to bottom about 4in wide that started to appear more often than not! And their customer service...well let's just say it's not great! Great job Sony!

Initial set-up a bit shaky and the support from manufacturer was a bit less than stellar. Go for the web site support and videos FIRST! Remote lacks and needs a bit more engineering. I knew OLED were much better but I thought I could get by with the LCD. Nothing wrong with it but the limited viewing angle bugged me. So I thought, time to buy my first OLED and I'm soooo happy I did. Most of my friends have OLEDs so I knew how great the color and contrast is but owning it is just another plus. I'm totally ecstatic about my A80J and buying the 2021 and saving $700 from it's initial price is icing on the cake...It is probably the best value premium TV right now before the prices go way up on the 2022 models....LOVE IT !!!!

We were told have in a dark room for better results but we have had no issues. Screen is rich and vibrant. While streaming sometimes the voice is off. Needs a delay feature to sync.

We regret to know the audio is delayed when you watch videos from internet apps. Depending on the cause, this issue is often resolved by performing a power reset on your TV. To do that, press and hold the POWER button for about five seconds until Power off appears on the TV screen. The TV automatically turns off and then turns back on after one minute.
