Sony A80J OLED 4K/120Hz

All of the controls make sense, and all of the settings are captioned with a description when you highlight them. The TV is also extremely quick and responsive. I don't really get the feeling that it's "thinking" when I press a button on the remote. It just works. The picture quality is incredible. I cannot really speak for the sound from the speakers, as my setup is connected to an A/V receiver via fiber optic. I bought this particular model for one main reason: 4K/120Hz capabilities. Eventually, more games will roll out for the PS5, and when they do, my setup will be ready. As an additional note, I went from a 55" 4K LED (a Sony Bravia XBR-55X850B from 2014) to a 65" 4K OLED (the Sony Bravia XR65A80J). Older OLEDs may have had issues with brightness, but I do not have any issues with that.

No matter what you adjust. No matter what settings I use, the Tv is too blue. too red, too green, too washed out, too dark, too terrible to keep. If you have a 4k HDR Apple TV it can look amazing. ANYthing outside that kind of input looks really bad. Give it a 1080P input like Cable, and this TV looks worse than my 2018 Vizio. I am returning this TV and trying a Samsung QN90A. I sort of get why people like it. every once in a while, Only with the PERFECT input and Perfect picture, the TV is really good. But I feel like I need to completely recalibrate the entire tv based on which channel or input I am using. I have tried to adjust on this TV for 6 days straight. There aren't any settings that look good. The color 99% of the time is so off, that either people look at this TV with Youtube 8K HDR content or watch nothing but built in Netflix or they watch nothing but cartoons, or I have a bad unit with a bad panel. Put this on your local news station and Normal 1080P content, and the picture makes me hate it. I haven't given Sony a shot in Many years and I am so disappointed that I may never give them another shot. The only thing I will give this TV is the Google TV interface and the ease of getting it to control all my other equipment is really good. Sorry Sony. not sure If I got a bum panel or this TV is just bad and people can't see how bad it is. if anyone has any settings I should try, please post them. No amount of calibration seems to make it any better than terrible so far.

Picture quality depends on the signal and content. Check the menu screen to see if the same issue is present. If the menu screen does not have the same issue, your TV settings, broadcast signal source (such as cable or satellite box, internet video device, or other devices such as a DVD player), or cable connections could be the cause of the issue.
In addition to adjusting the different picture modes, you can configure various settings related to the TV display such as color and brightness for picture quality, or screen size which best suits you. If the color does not match when playing a content from an input source, try adjusting the picture settings such as the color, video signal (color space), etc.

Love my new Sony 65” Smart TV

Since watching TV is an important past time for me, I wanted the best I could buy for the money. I walked into Best Buy with 2 TVs in mind, and when I gave the salesman the 5 requirements I wanted in a TV, he walked me over to the Sony Bravia OLED 65” 4K UHD Smart TV. The minute I saw the picture, I was hooked! Another great feature is the remote is user friendly, as I am older, and not that savvy with new technology.

So easy to watch. 1080i content looks amazing, then 4k from an Apple TV is nuts. The depth of the images and detail is so much of an improvement over our older Sony 55" which had decent blacks, but this is another level. My only comment is that the SMART TV internal images from Netflix, etc don't look as amazing as the external HDMI content. Directv or Apple 4k. Not sure why yet. But buy this TV. You will not be disappointed.

My 4th Sony Bravia - Worth Every Penny

There are countless stellar reviews of this TV online they are spot on. Color, clarity, surprising sound from the TV itself. Out of the box the picture is good, but I had to make changes due to the lighting in the room where it is housed. Not everyone would need to do that. I don't use Vivid on a regular basis and so made changes to the custom picture mode. Set contrast at '90', gamma at '0', black level at '50', and peak luminance at 'High, brightness at 90, color at neutral. Usually, the only mildly negative comment about the Sony's as opposed to LG or Samsung is the lack of brightness in some settings, but it can be adjusted. I used my existing Sonos system for sound, but the native sound is surprisingly good. All in all, a great TV.

Best TV I've ever owned - Amazing Picture

Did a TON of research and it did on Black Friday. This is by far the Best TV I've ever owned. It replaced a Bravia LCD which was beautiful but this OLED blows it away. The picture is stunning, crystal clear and lifelike. Out of the box, the settings are good but it needed to be tweaked. I lost count of how many YouTube video's I watched to get the correct settings and 90% of them were wrong. They all say to shut off Motion Control and Cinemotion and I tried that. You don't get the lifelike effect if it's off. The edge to edge screen is fantastic and the XR processor is insanely fast and smooth. The Bravia Core (movie app) picture quality is better than NetFlix and Prime. You will not be disappointed with this TV !

Not perfect, but better than the C1 for me

The only real downside for me is the pending features to be added at some unknown time, and the fact that SDR and HDR picture modes are shared. This means you have to constantly adjust certain picture mode settings when you switch between content. Most other TV's have these modes separated so that you can tweak settings individually without affecting the other. There also is no HDR auto notification like on other brands, so you have to manually check it to verify it's actually playing in HDR. The remote is completely Bluetooth which is AWESOME. Lots of picture modes to customize, and hdmi cec has been flawless so far. Overall I am happier with the A80J than I was with the C1.

The only weakness is Google TV-hidden ads and not so reliable TV operating software. After a careful setup, the video quality is just superb. Dolby Vision, via Apple TV 4K, looks spectacular. Prime video’s UHD movies never look better. My 4K Blueray movie collection now has more details, especially the dark scenes, e.g., The Harry Potter series. Sony’s color management software is truly the best in the industry and its implementation on the LG OLED panel really brings out the bests of the technology. Even though the A90j, costing twice as much as the A80j, is slightly better in specs, but for most streaming contents it seems overkill. The A80j is the best value for any serious movie lovers.

The picture has been phenomenal. When a show we were watching the other nite ended, the screen went black. We had the lights off in the room, and let me tell you - the room was pitch black. WOW! By the way, the SANUS stands for the One SLs are worth the price. Simple to put together and are at a perfect height in the room. I want to give a shout out to Jared Hefley at the store in Lawrence, as he made the whole process of buying and install as easy as it could have been. I have been so impressed with the entire process - choosing an excellent TV to install, to service questions thru the Geek Squad. I have appreciated everyone's expertise and help along the way.
