First of all the black uniformity is atrocious and it is the very first thing you will see when you turn the TV on for the first time. The screen is hazy and there is clouding all over the screen. When local dimming is on the black levels improve but there is a ton of blooming on this model and you can still see that certain parts of the screen are cloudy even with local dimming on high. The picture quality is just okay. Any TV you buy in this price range will have nice colors. I'm not even going there. It's 4K. It doesn't seem to be very bright. The cognitive processing is a little bit distracting at times. Images in the foreground are clear and objects in the background are blurred. Sometimes it is kind of nice but other times it ruins the picture and the part of the scene you would like to see is totally blurred. I knew this TV was going back within 3 minutes of turning it on. It is totally mind blowing to me that this TV cost over 2,000 dollars when it came out. There is nothing special about it. I thought I was getting a deal but I am actually disgusted by the quality even for a fraction of the original price. I have the Samsung QN90A in my living room and it is totally on another level when it comes to the picture. I won't look at a Sony television again.

Was great until it stopped working...

Two months after the warranty was up the TV started having difficulties turning on. It would boot to the home screen, but would be very dim. Initially, turning it off and then back on would do he trick. When that no longer worked, leaving it in in the dimmed stated for several minutes before turning it on and off would work. Eventually, that several minutes turned into 10-30 minutes. It got so bad that we'd just leave the TV on all the time, for fear that we'd never get it to come back on. We believed the most likely culprit was the second relay that's supposed to activate in order to route power to the backlight. The thought was that leaving the TV on in the dimmed state allowed the relay to warm up and eventually be actuated. Sony Customer Support was no help. Even if the TV had still been under warranty, they only had one repair facility in my state (population 11+ million), and that facility was a 3 hour drive away. They wouldn't provide information as to the faulty component. It's just a shame, because it was a great display, until it wasn't

I switched, and upgraded to the Sony Bravia 65" 4k smart tv, and I am thrilled with the new tv. It provides the picture clarity, precision and quality I wanted, above and beyond in fact. Natural color, beautiful gradation without over saturation or burnout. I'm an artist, and this tv provides me exactly the viewing quality I was looking for!

Allow us to help troubleshoot the problem. May we know if the issue is manifested on the Home menu or other inputs? The LCD screen is made with high-precision technology to achieve a high level of performance and picture quality. To achieve this level of performance, the backlight setting of the TV is set to maximize the screen brightness. However, you may notice uneven brightness on the TV when watching in a dark environment or when the screen is blank. This condition is normal and not a malfunction of the TV. If you don't want to sign up for a google account some of the primary functions are more cumbersome to set up and use. The innovative "screen as an active speaker" technology does not live up to the hype. It meets the intended purpose. Purchased for use in a room with high ambient light levels; OLED would not have worked as well.

I like the platform better than I thought I would (I'm a Roku fan). I still have a Roku stick, but barely use it anymore. Which brings me to my only complaint; the picture quality is not always as great with the Roku Stick and I'm not sure how to fix it. It's a minor issue, because like I said the platform that comes with the TV is great, so I barely use the Roku Stick.

At first i was going to by an X90J but quickly released that i wouldn't be able to place the 5.1.2 sound bar in front of the TV because it doesn't fit. So choosing the X95J was perfect for my set up in my game room and the picture quality is top notch for Movies and Gaming. Definitely recommend buying this TV for sure.

Even lights that did not directly hit the screen show up on the tv screen would cause a distracting rainbow across most of the screen. If you're considering this tv it does this even on the larger sizes with the anti reflective feature. Several times the tv would quit responding to the remote. It would either need turned off using the power button on the tv or need unplugged to temporarily fix. This happened with the bluetooth voice remote that came with the tv and a regular Sony ir remote. The screen was dark in the corners and looked terrible when local dimming was off. Sony finally updated the tv so that vrr worked but you cant use dolby vision and it turns off local dimming. When using dolby vision it also disable 120hz. On the Xbox series X and PS4 it looked terrible in the menus and with low qualty and very excessive contrast. This TV replaced a 2012 model Sony 55HX850 that besides lacking 4k and hdr it had a better picture and none of the problems this tv had. I wound up with an LG G1 that out of the box works perfectly with the game consoles and has none of the problems the Sony X95J had.

Beautiful! Only a few weird corks it has. The legs go to the very edge of the tv then pervious versions. Only didn’t fit on our tv stand. Also you can adjust how tall you want it to be, just incase you have a sound bar you can adjust the legs to either up or flat with stand. If you want great 4k 120FPS quality you have to go into picture settings and change that. It doesn’t do it right out of the box. Other then that! Great tv!

The colors are bright and crisp, the color tones perfectly balanced, and the picture is unbelievably sharp and clear. We also got a soundbar with wifi subwoofer and a new DVD Blue Ray player to complete the package. From comparison shopping at Best Buy to Geek Squad installation, we were well taken care of and have exactly what we were looking for.
