    Worth The $$$

Purchased this television that replaced a 2.5 year old LG 60uh7700 after it unexpectedly crapped out one day in the middle of watching a movie. Without an extended warranty and past the manufacturer 1 year the cost to repair that TV was around $500 and I could not justify paying that price when I can purchase a brand new TV for that price even if it does not have all the high-end specs. Fast forward a few days later of researching I decided to go back to SONY after having several TV sets from SONY that still works flawlessly to this day (some are over 10 years old) When shopping for my new television set I was set on 65" as many 60" models do not exist anymore and if they do they do not have the specs I need. I crossed shopped this TV with Samsung's Q70 & Q80 along with Sony's X900F and although the price difference is $400 I decided to get this one after seeing it on the showroom at best buy. The contrast levels seem to handle blacks better than the X900F and the processor in this TV the X1 Ultimate is the same one used by their master series OLED television costing twice as much. I was interested in OLEDs as well however the technology is still relatively new and the majority was dominated by LG and I really do not want to go back to LG after reading about the reliability issues and the same problems that happened to my TV. OLEDs look great, however, burn in is still a real problem and can occur almost more than 50% of all OLEDs and with the technology transitioning so fast nowadays it's better to let the new tech refine a bit before investing in it. Looking at the floor demos almost all the OLEDs have some burn in issues as well as natural screen defects where lines seem to appear in the middle of the screen. As for the X950G the price is a bit high for what it is however I have to say coming from my LG to this is a big difference. The main features that I needed it to have were native 120hz refresh rate, full-array backlighting as well as support for Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos which the Samsung did not have but did have HDR10+ however when it comes down to bitrate HDR10+ is almost the same as Dolby vision. Being Dolby certified was the selling point because SONY is in the entertainment business and many movies are produced by SONY and their camera equipment is usually made by SONY as well. My father worked in NBC as a broadcast engineer and all the equipment they use were SONY and he was always a SONY fan since he used to work at SONY as well. So if there is a company that knows about film production and presenting their work it's gonna be SONY. The black levels when all display adjustments are made and calibrated are amazing! I've had friends come over and seen the TV and asked if it was an OLED and I said NOPE. Color accuracy is one of SONY's biggest advantage compared to LG or Samsung where Samsung tends to over saturate everything. The X950G has a perfect color balance and is very bright whether it is HDR, Dolby Vision, or just plain HD content. Watching movies on this is great the details and clarity as well as the local dimming and the full array backlighting really makes this TV stand out. I have used 4k UHD blu-rays as well as 4K Apple TV for Netflix and they all look great. Everything I stream is bypassed through my Onkyo Reciever so Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision work great together in my home-theater setup. As for built-in TV speakers, they are okay. It is cool that it has two tweeters in the back to reflect off the walls and simulates surround sound but it lacks richness and fullness. They are better than many televisions out there and are loud enough but I prefer to just use external audio. With HDMI eARC support and optical outputs, the TV just turns on my AMP automatically when I power on the Television so no need to find the remote as it controls most of your devices as well. The X950G remote can control my cable box as well as Apple TV which I thought was very useful. In a fully lit room with natural lighting, there is no problem for the TV it handles well-lit rooms very well and if you do not have the light sensor turned on while watching in the dark be aware that it is VERY bright! Overall I highly recommend this television if you are in the market for a premium TV that isn't too expensive. Currently just waiting for the update where it will be able to support Airplay 2.

    Great Upgrade from Plasma

I’m glad I finally made the leap to 4K since this upgrade is much more noticeable for color and clarity. I picked up the Sony XBR-65X950G at a local store’s warehouse on Friday and got to play with it some over the weekend, but not as much as I wanted to because I spent more time rearranging the space after the new arrival. Colors were vibrant and even the blacks were plenty dark. Viewing angles were good for a single seat I had at around 45°, but the main seats are directly in front and great at 8’. Sitting and laying on the floor, in front of the sofa, was good as well. The location had no windows except at the other end of the L shaped room and below from the loft. Not a fan of torch mode TVs or monitors since I always run them at less than 50% brightness; this thing gets bright. Internal light glare wasn’t an issue due to the finish. Remote is not backlit but no worries since I use my TV provider’s or a universal remote depending on what I’m watching. OTA broadcasts looked good even though there’s only 1080/720 and unfortunately, 480 content still. Comcast has the same resolution content although their box can be set to 4K, but some channels look noticeably better than others. The Panasonic DP-UB820 did a wonderful job at 4K media and upscales BD and even DVD very well. The 4K content from Netflix (additional $5 upgrade) and Amazon were a noticeable improvement too. There’s also some YouTube 4K+ content but nothing I’d watch on a regular basis on a TV besides sampling/showcasing. I looked through some Vudu trailers, but they weren’t offered in 4K although the movie rentals did show availability. I quickly tested an XBoX One S and 360 and the FPS and racing games I tried looked decent enough for a console and didn’t show any issues…I’m a PC gamer. I even fired up an old VHS flick and looks better than I remember. I went with an LED over OLED because of burn-in reality…I could also buy two for the price of one. I’ve seen it in showrooms from Best Buy to boutique AV stores and believe it’s worse than previous generation technologies. I’ve owned rear projection and plasma TVs and tired of reminding others in my household about leaving games, streaming menus, content pausing and even staying on the same channels with fixed logos etc. This is my second Sony TV and very impressed with it. I’ve been a Panasonic and Toshiba TV consumer over many years but unfortunately, they left the U.S. market. An end of an era indeed. This TV is made in Mexico and remote in China. I purchased an LG tuner/DVD player back when HDTVs didn’t have tuners in them and wasn’t overly impressed with it, so no LG for me. I haven’t used the networked functions on this TV and not much of a fan of Google and their tech in the TV. I went through every menu and turned off everything I could, including wireless, before connecting to my wired network. I’m doing my streaming elsewhere. If you’ve been on the 4K fence then this is the series to do it with, but you must have the content to feed it. Now back to enjoying the eye candy.

    Better than the X900F

Had a chance to check out the new Sony X950G 65” tv today at Bestbuy. Due to the lack of space at the time, along with their rush to have it displayed, they had to put it where they could, which was the top row of what was two rows of 55” and 65” inch tv’s. Two tv’s over is the 65” X900F showing the same content to help in the comparison, along with a Samsung Q8 and Q9, 2018 models. Florescent lighting was directly above. First impressions are impressive given the setup. It easily bested the X900f in clarity and detail as well as in color depth and accuracy. It was really a stunning picture. And again, this is looking up at this thing in a not so friendly environment. While I’m not a Samsung fan, I must admit the 2018 Q8 and Q9 models look really good, but among other things, I didn’t think they were worth the extra cost over the X900F. Well, they really aren’t now when comparing them to the Sony X950G. The X950G I thought would fit between the Q8 and Q9 tv’s very comfortably, but with the Sony not being as saturated. I can see this TV taking sales away from Sony’s premiere Lcd TV quite honestly. Off Axis viewing was kind of hard to determine due to the setup but it did not look to be bad at all, but I need to see it in a better setup. So overall, I’m impressed and will most likely make this my next TV. It is very good! Hope to see other reviews soon.

Its been some time since I had purchased a TV and as much as technology has gotten better I've always found something off on the picture's of newer TV's. Quality of picture was always amazing but something would both me with the motion of allot of TV's even as amazing as the picture quality would be. Never found anything that I enjoyed till I saw the Sony's. Yes OLED is great but so is the cost. I was going to get the Sony X900F but when I found out the newer models X950G was coming out I had to compare. Even though it was a little more then what I wanted to spend, it was worth every penny. I've only had it for a few days and I really am enjoying the image quality, the easy setup, sound(but once you try it with a sound bar you won't go back.). Love it! My only issue right now is the Netflix does not work.

I've been a Sony fan for years and in all of my time buying and interacting with their TVs, soundbars, headphones, receivers, walkmans, and anything else under the sun I have always had a quality product and exceptional experience. The 950G is no different. I previously owned the Sony X900F and sold it to a friend and upgraded to the 950G and it was well worth it! The new bluetooth remote is a pleasure to use and the new SOC makes changing settings a breeze compared to my 900F. The X1-Ultimate is no joke, as Sony is always topped out with the best chips in their televisions. Superb highlights and detail. Object based super resolution makes for real eye candy on almost anything you watch. Even 720p cable content looks great! Amazing motion and color reproduction make for the best sports watching experience aswell. This TV for the price is incredible, I truly think they could have charged more for it. I will always reccomend Sony.

It's easy to be mesmerized by other TVs and brands that focus on enhanced visuals that make colors pop out of the screen and while that's not a bad thing at all and more of a preference, I'm the complete opposite. I chose this TV because I experience reality when I look at any content displayed on it. I'm more of a guy that wants to notice the fine detail on a person's face while watching a film and that it looks real, with true color and amazing blacks that contrast perfectly with the picture to avoid the fake look. Being a to keep my eyes on a hockey puck during a game did it for me as well. The 960 frame refresh ratio is insane! Way better than my old "240hz" tv. Overall I'm happy with my new TV.

This is the first higher end TV I've bought for myself and I am certainly impressed with it. The picture quality is far better than anything I'm used to and has ruined normal TV's for me. The black levels, color, and clarity leave little to be desired. In addition, having the Google store included means I have access to every app I need. I was comparing this to the Samsung Q8F (now Q80) and I don't regret my decision at all. Both have very similar performance in my eyes but I went with the Sony for the lower price and connection to Google (android user). For anyone coming from 1080p or low end 4k sets, this will completely change your viewing experience.

The picture on this tv is amazing. You’re not going to get a better picture than this without going to an oled tv and they are still iffy in reliability. The blacks and colors are vibrant and dark and you have little if any motion blur. My only complaint is, like my last Sony, you do not have a full Android OS and there are some limitations to what apps you can download directly to the tv. You can get around this by using a fire stick or Apple TV. Pair this tv with Samsung n950 soundbar and you will have an amazing set up!

Its been awhile since Ive upgraded my tv. I was waiting for that perfect time for the 4k to hit the high mark before the next generation came out (8K) and I think i did pretty good. Everything on this tv is absolutely amazing the picture the movement and the realisticness of it all blows my mind everytime I watch something. After you buy something you always compare it to other things to see if you did the right thing and not another tv out there has shown me that it is any better in any way. Awsome tv best purchase Ive made in a long time. Great job Sony money well spent.

I just upgraded to my first 4K from an LG to this Sony and have been nothing but impressed. The 4K is awesome and 4K HDR is stunning, I integrated it with a Denon AVR-X3500H and the eARC/ARC works awesome, great picture and surround sound processing now, directly from TV source to receiver, I am glad I chose this over the OLED Samsung C8 C9 series. This TV packs a punch and works great with the Andriod System. Remote is Bluetooth and has IR Blaster integrated in the remote for cable box control.

Finally a Sony which clearly is superior to any other model on the market. I had the 65" and now have the 75". A wonderful addition to my entertainment center. There are many extensive reviews online about this product which I've reviewed myself prior to making the purchase. Some of the accolades for the Sony TV are personal and everyone doesn't perceive colors the same. The color rendition is wonderful and the motion is clear on most all sources. Blu Ray DVD is breathtaking. Now all we need is more 4K programming.

Upgraded from an older XBR 65" 4K 2015 model. I must say this TV is amazing right out of the box. Very low input lag for gaming which I why I chose this model! I had to turn off the "auto dimming" because it looked very dark, but once I did that the picture quality dramatically improved. My only complaint is that the TV speakers are terrible. I have a sony 7.1.2 soundbar so it doesn't bother me, but don't expect anything great if you plan on using the speakers. Pros: Non-laggy Gaming & Excellent Picture Quality with deep blacks. Instant response time for menus.

This 65" replaced our 55" Sony Bravia. Color is crisp, 4K is AWESOME except for the fact that we have to pay for any TV shows in 4K to Direct TV. Nothing is free. The Netflix streaming app which is built in sure does make a difference in the picture. Clear! We selected this over the Sony OLED due to the semigloss screen so it wasn't as reflective as the glass on the OLED due to windows in our room. We are using a ZVOX sound bar, so can't comment on the sound through the TV.

We have an older Sony 5.1 surround sound system and older Samsung TV. We wanted to upgrade to 4K without too much expense. This TV works seamlessly with our older sound system and the display options are great. After making sure the video output was set to 4K vs. the default that was not AND updating our HDMI cables we got great results. Colors and shadows are more crisp and environment and costume details are amazing. This TV has many smart features and google\Netflix integrations built in

I have been shopping for new TV for months. Always been a Sony guy. When I saw this available I had to go see it at Best Buy. They had it next to the 900 series and I could could not believe the difference in pictures. SOLD! Installed 5 days later and the room is alive with awesome color. My only regret is the space above my fireplace isn't large enough for the 75"! One week in, I am still playing and getting to know her. Fine purchase! This is my 6th Sony TV going back to the trinatron model.

Picked up this TV in April and have been amazed with it ever since. the picture is outstanding on almost every different platform (Comcast cable, Netflix App, Youtube App, etc...). The operating system is snappy unlike previous Android TV versions, and the picture provides an even color pallet from a huge viewing angle. We have a roughly 20' by 20' living room, and can see and hear the TV from anywhere we sit. There is no better TV on the market at this price point!

When my just slightly over 2 years old TV decided to fail Best Buy was quick to process a replacement at a great one for one swap. I took this opportunity to upgrade and pick the 950G over all the other comparable brands. Its colors are true and not washed out or over saturated. The viewing angle is much better on this model as well. The Netflix optimization is a great feature but I am waiting on Airplay to be enabled. Once that is done I'll be 100% satisfied.

I moved up from the XBR65X900F to the XBR65X950G. (Note I had upgraded the 900F to Android 8 OREO and it brings many layout/access changes,) For eARC, all 4 HDMI’s can be set for enhancement, better processor, better offsides viewing, 2 additional internal speakers, improved remote more compatible with android 8 OREO, Netflix has a custom calibration video setting also. Enjoy !

The Sony Bravia 65 inch 950G 4k TV has an amazing crisp clear picture. The LED local backlit screen fixed our very sunny room reflection issue. The blacks are much better than the Panasonic plasma TV that this unit replaced and the reds just pop. Great upscaling processor as well.
