The TV is awesome with clear picture. I would have given it 5stars if the remote worked better. The remote seems to go to sleep and doesn't react quickly.

The problem is your picture can be only as good as your delivery system. Cable is good but limited. Would love to see 4K! Probably would get five stars then. Remote is non lighted and is marginal for such an expensive TV

Ive owned LG oled and now the Sony A1E. The processor in the Sony A1E is far superior. The picture is great on the tv. The smart tv features are meh could be better for a tv of this caliber. The remote is too basic for this very expensive tv. Another bonus is the upconversion and 4K.

Costliest choice of OLED at this time, but superior picture compared to the LG most similar to this model, even though both are LG screens. I use Direct TV, Sonos, and a Samsung Blueray HDR w a built-in streaming hub for content, including 4K,. The instruction manual is very unhelpful. Wasn't as difficult to set up as I anticipated, but it is heavy and viewing one of the available Youtube videos on unpacking it is recommended. The slight tilt from the stand design is not an issue for viewing. The viewing angle range shows no dropoff in color accuracy or brightness as is common w LED sets. The digital audio output sends a Dolby signal so connecting to a Sonos system is easy. The Direct TV remote programs the basic TV functions easily and although the Sony TV remote programs Direct TV functions, I don't use it because it is so poorly designed. The only weaknesses of the TV are the design and implementation of the operating system and the remote. They are both a mess. The configuration of the Smart TV functions is a disincentive to use them. The TV is Direct TV ready, but the 4K content from Direct TV apparently still requires a separate freestanding 4K client and there are only 3 channels. Direct TV cannot be considered a good source for 4K content at this time. Upcoding of non-4K content is superb, and rendering of 4K content streamed from Netflix, or Blueray is amazing.

After test driving a lg oled in 2017 I wasn't impressed with the way it handled cinema motion. Once the Sony A1E price dropped I couldn't resist. This television replaced my beloved Samsung F8500 plasma. I've been blown away by picture quality from my Oppo Blu-ray player, Apple TV4k, and even HD on directv. The only "gripe" I've is the sensor for the remote was placed in an awful location on the tv frame and if you're not pointed directly at it it won't work. Right out the box this tv is stunning on cinema home setting. I'll have my set professionally calibrated once I hit 200 hours of use.

TV is so cool, calibration unimpressed with. TV actually looked worse after calibration. I had to tweak it. Once I tweak, amazing. OLED is total way to go. Remote is gltichy w/the tv. Tv always doesn't turn on when using universal remote.

You really need to tweak the picture through calibration, but overall very nice. Out of the box, it will take two people to setup. The remote is junk, but the TV's design is like nothing I've ever seen. I also have a LG 65/55 inch OLED, so the picture quality is comparable. I believe Sony utilizes LG technology in their OLED, so the picture quality is nearly identical. Sony wins by the design. I was also highly impressed with the sound quality since the TV has no standard speakers. Not really worth over 5,000K since you could spend about 2-3K and get the same picture quality with an LG...but nobody will be as "Wow'ed" with the LG design compared to Sony's incredible build. Overall, very pleased. If you have money to burn, go for it!

This is one amazing television! The picture is vibrant, clear, and sharp make sure you hook the cable provider box to HDMI port two or three on the back of the TV. Then go to your input settings and change from standard to Enhance HDMI to get the most out of the 4K picture. The sound coming from this set is loud and crisp, no need for a sound bar. I thought I would have buyers remorse when I took it home, but that went away very quickly once I set it up correctly and saw that picture was better then what I experienced at Best Buy. The remote is just ok and could be better (learning curve). I'm starting to warm up to it. I wish it would light up for night time use but it does have voice activation. I wall mounted the TV and it sticks out about 4 1/2 inches from the wall. You can also pair it with Alexa. I would highly recommend this OLED TV for anyone who can afford this. It's pricey so catch it on sale.

I wanted a few weeks before I posted just to make sure this set lived up to its price. Out of the box I first hung it up and then updated it's software. The set doesn't really stick out that much with the attached stand was kind of concerned about that but no big deal. Picture setting out of the box are ok, but in some cases highlights are blown out, I adjusted the settings and all that have seen this are amazed. Colors are realistic, 4K HDR scenes/ videos are amazing, black levels are better than anything I have seen even better than the Panasonic and Pioneer plasmas that we're the benchmark for black levels. I was concerned how well a 1080P Cable tv broadcast would look on a 4K set. I'll say I was pleasantly surprised. The upscaling really works better than expected, sure it's not the same as 4K video, but if your sitting minimally 5' award will (hope so) you will be happy too. Some of my friends have 4K sets and not to be bias, their sets don't upscale as nice. Now onto sound. I first thought this was gimmicky, but I'll say the sound is way better than expected. Highs are high even lows are low with the built in sub. Very impressive. It's not as good as a dedicated system but I can say it better than any set I have had. The remote control is really my only gripe. This controller looks so basic like from the early 2000's. . a set with these capabilities I would expect a remote to compliment all the capabilities quickly and intuitively, but everything can't be awesome and I understand. I'll take the great picture and sound quality vs a remote.

    Absolutely PERFECT Picture Quality

First off, the picture quality, motion and everything about the panel and image processing is superior to everything on the market for an OLED panel. With that being said, the OS is absolutely useless. This review is being written on 6/26/2017 and my TV has the most recent updates. The OS is extremely glitchy, slow, and unusable. If you plan on using smart functions on this TV a separate set-top box or 4K Blu-Ray player MUST be used for smart functions. To me, when spending $5,000 for a TV I do believe expecting the Smart functions and UI to be at LEAST as good as other smart functions on competitors TVs but when spending $5,000 you expect them to be exceptional. The main issue with the Android TV UI and OS is that any adjustment to volume when using the included remote it will slow down the entire system, degrade streaming quality, and in some instances interrupt your viewing experience all together... just to change the volume and put a volume bar on the screen. This, on a $5,000 TV is unacceptable. The other issues I've had with the OS and UI include slow navigation, apps crashing (both native and third party), unsupported file types, and the fact that there is NO web browser on a $5,000 TV. The issues with the apps crashing are usually with two apps (and this may or may not be sony's fault) Youtube and Netflix. There have been an uncountable amount of occurrences where these apps crash or don't start up at all. The youtube app will load the background with red and grey without any content and will never load content until the app is closed and re-opened and in some cases you need to go into settings and force stop the app. And in the Netflix app it will load to 25% on any title and hang there indefinitely. In conclusion. PERFECT picture quality, motion, color and everything about the panel itself and image processing is PERFECT. but for $5,000 if you're going to include Smart Functions it better be JUST AS PERFECT AS THE PANEL ITSELF. I will update my review to reflect any future software/firmware updates that solve any of the issues above.
