Let's start with, I am extremely hard to please (Especially TV's) and usually disappointed with a lot of products and am conscious of that when shopping for something, given that this TV was $3,199.99 at the time I figured...I can't go wrong after doing 2 Years of research on the Z9D and then deciding on the A1E for the OLED colors & acoustic glass surface in attempt to ditch my 5.1 surround sound (sound is better than any other TV out there). Movies look phenomenal, the colors are better than any TV I've looked at, LG OLED's are extremely difficult to say which is better although it makes sense cause the A1E uses an LG panel with a Sony Processor, which was a huge factor in picking this TV. I figured all the colors and quality of the best TV picture out there (LG) with the BEST processing (X1 Extreme). The idea is great....but I decided to test out Forza Horizon 3 & Forza Motorsports 7 with a Xbox One S (non 4k gaming console but supposedly plays 4k movies). The motion or refresh rate on this TV is plain garbage, I have tried EVERY SINGLE combination of setting with both the Xbox One & the TV in order to make it look good but it simply can't handle it, the spoiler on the vehicle was flickering behind it as you accelerate as if the TV can't keep up with the game, same applies with edges & any object on screen. I bought a $650 Vizio (D650i-B2) (1080p/120Hz Native) years ago and it was 100% perfect I had no complaints, I was upgrading finally to a 4K and was extremely disappointed. Mind you, I do believe movies are amazing especially when watching Dolby Vision content, although games and even some TV show or movie content or better yet anything plugged into the HDMI no matter which port has horrible frame lag or refresh rate, and I did purchase a Cinnamon HDMI cableLet's start with, I am extremely hard to please (Especially TV's) and usually disappointed with a lot of products and am conscious of that when shopping for something, given that this TV was $3,199.99 at the time I figured...I can't go wrong after doing 2 Years of research on the Z9D and then deciding on the A1E for the OLED colors & acoustic glass surface in attempt to ditch my 5.1 surround sound (sound is better than any other TV out there). Dolby Vision content is beautiful, although overall disappointed with motion, it seems all newer TV's struggle in the same area and try and cover it up with whatever name for the motion upscale technology they have that usually only makes things worse. I had a $648 Vizio (65 inch/1080p/120Hz Native) I bought years ago that was 100% perfect, no complaints at all. Aside from the fact that it wasn't 4k capable (4K was a little new at the time) it was better than the A1E (obviously it couldn't compete with OLED colors & Black Levels) although motion blur or flicker did not exist on the Vizio. I would only recommend this TV if you never plan on gaming or you have a large living room in need of wide viewing angles (it looks great at an almost 150 degree viewing angle) or want to ditch wires for audio without worrying about a sound bar or anything else. I'm all about not caring about the price tag if the quality is there but motion handling is a must when you are spending $3,199.99. The image is a small example it was a screenshot of the video recorded on my iPhone 7, much much worse in persons.

I bought this TV expecting to have the best picture available. And technically it is...the problem is, after I purchased it, Sony did a software update that dims the picture automatically if something on the tv is static...and there is nothing you can do to stop it. At first I thought I had a bad panel. But after doing some research I discovered (too late) what was actually happening. Until Sony fixes this, you shouldn’t come anywhere near this TV. Go with the LG which has the same panel for half the price. It is the most infuriating thing in the world and there is currently nothing we can do to fix it.

Abitrary dimming of screen ruins the experience

Once downloading the Dolby Vision update, the TV arbitrarily dims while watching and it's very frustrating. I put in a claim to Sony warranty and it was to no avail. I wanted to swap this A1E for an LG C7, but Best Buy wouldn't help either. I'm not a happy buyer...$3500 for a TV that has a fatal flaw. I'm hoping someone at Sony or Best Buy will see this and help me out. For the record, go check the forums on the internet and you'll find that this is a pervasive problem with the A1E.

Great looking picture, but just like my other Sony 65” TV it failed within a short period. Sony had to special ship a new TV to the house. One tv failure, ok two failures very disapointing. You would think when you pay a lot of $$$ for the best you get the best, sony’s quality is questionable, and their replacement process is VERY POOR. The new (used) replacement arrived damaged and dusty after missing their first delivery date and time.

My unit goes on and off from picture to black and back again. Takes sometimes 3 seconds to change channels. Picture is fuzzy at times.

Hi Softballwolf, we are sorry to hear what happened and we are more than happy to help you with. Does the issue occur when using a different source or input? We can try performing a reset on the TV to isolate the issue: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/75705/. I hope this will fix the issue: Best regards, -Erin sony_US
