The TV itself works (which I consider to be "table stakes"), but the TOSLink optical audio output is crippled. The TV only outputs 2-channel audio via the TOSLink output. This results in very poor audio quality when using any of the built-in "smart TV" functionality. (This limitation presumably doesn't exist when using ARC audio over HDMI, but my receiver doesn't support ARC, and I see no reason why I should throw out a perfectly good receiver.) Even knowing that this limitation exists, I can find no mention of it anywhere in Sony's specifications. I consider this to be deceptive behavior by Sony.

Amazing tv for the price. Not full array so it does really bad in the dark. This TV's kryptonite is the movie 1917.

Smokey picture.. not what I saw in the store. Called store for a total of 25 min on hold.. x 2 No service.. not sure what to do to get this fixed.

I will start by stating that I had originally bought the Sony 800g first. In some ways it was a better TV then the 850g. I decided to get the 850g thinking the 120hz native refresh rate, superior input lag and better build quality would give it a leg up. Also the remote and having a dedicate video processing chip would help a lot. To be fair it does have a slightly superior picture to the 800g but not by a big margin. The remote is hands down better and the built in android smart TV features and menu system really good. Black levels are just ok so some content like the super bowl 1/2 time show was just awful. This TV has been calibrated. Another huge frustration is with the YouTube TV streaming app. We use there service for live TV and recording shows. There's something not right with how this App is optimized for Sony's Android platform. It's only with this app and no others. There is significant streaming issues with frame rate smoothness and keeping things in focus. If I use my Roku stick on this TV, the Youtube TV app works perfectly. Just strange. So, I will more thin likely return this set too as I can not own a TV where the Apps may or may not work correctly. Im a huge Sony fan but Im also losing faith in their TV products. They use to be the best and I could alway count on them for that. I never needed to look elsewhere or even consider another brand. Now Im not so sure.

Broke within 4yrs, just shut off and would not turn back on. Tried to do trouble shooting and power cycles. Would expect better from Sony and the TV price point. I have had other Sony TVs last 15+ years.

What a great picture for the money I paid. By far the best tv for that price. I am extremely pleased with my TV. I had bought a LG TV for $5500.00 plus tax.... And this new SONY still has a better,brighter picture. I need to buy me a SONY Sound Bar now. Don't get me wrong, It sounds good but to have a movie theater like experience, you have to have a good sound bar. What better brand than SONY.

There are a lot of options for TVs today and I felt this was a good price the picture quality. It looked the best on the floor for a decent price. It's been working flawlessly and no complaints.
