Was dead set on getting an OLED tv but after doing a little more research and experiencing the oled screen burn in first hand on a display model I decided I didn’t want that and purchased the Sony 900F. I love it!! The picture is very nice and crisp, the additional brightness from this panel vs oled makes HDR really come together. This TV does use local dimming for the led backlighting and can essentially turn off dark areas of the screen. While it will never be pure black like the oled it does get very close. I would purchase this tv again, it’s been great so far

I have only had this TV for about a month, but so far I really like. Picture is very good. The few 4K videos I have watched have been great. I find the built in applications and ability to load new applications easy and they work well. I use Sonos sound bar, so don't have any experience with the audio of the TV itself. My room is not greatly situated so during the day I have too much sunlight and this TV does not do as good as I hoped with that, but it is not bad either.

Honestly have been trying to find the right tv for a long time. Didn’t want to get an OLED because I game and games like battlefield and COd would have screen burn from a constant image on the display. So I went and looked at an Lg SK8000 and the Lg SK900 they both had a bloom effect and it was absolutely horrible and ended up returning it. Their dark room performance is absolutely horrible. LG does a horrible job with their LED TVs so you go and buy their OLEDS. So then I ended up buying a Samsung QLED the tv was amazing but dang it was way to bright and the colors where way over saturated. I even spent hours adjusting the colors and the brightness. After adjusting the backlight on the tv the colors would get dulled out. So I ended up with the Sony. Honestly it has been the best of them all. A little more than both coming in at about 200 more but every penny was worth it. Gaming 10/10 HDR 10/10 in HGL in HDR10 4/10 Black levels 10/10 Smart menu 8/10 Display setup 3/10 Color accuracy 10/10 Google assistant 10/10

    Above average LCD with FALD

Coming from a older Sony 4K TV without FALD (full array local dimming), the picture quality and contrast is almost night and day. Using the reboot Mad Max Fury Road as a source, the title screen showed deep black with very little to no blooming. There are plenty of calibration tips on the web but I decided to preset cinema pro and cinema home did a perfect job in a dark room setting. With the upgraded Android TV software with greater ease of use and Dolby vision support via firmware update, it has made a OK TV to above average. I debated whether to get a LG OLED but ultimately decided on the Sony X900F based on price and value.

I was going back and forth with this tv. Read reviews, really wanted a tv that supported true HDR signal EX. HDR10 mainly for my PS4pro and XB1X. This tv has it all, everything looks great (games, Netflix, HDR movies, even cable tv in HD 1080 and 4k. Plus Sony has always made quality TVs. Yes they are a little pricey but you get what you pay for! So if you can swing the extra dough you won’t regret that you did! Here are my settings for the perfect picture! I found that standard mode has the most accurate color scheme. Standard picture mode Auto picture mode “off” Light Sensor “off” Brightness Tab Brightness - 45 Contrast - 90 Gamma - 50 Black Level - 50 Adv. contrast enhancer - high Auto local dimming - medium X-tended dynamic range - high Color Tab Color - 50 Hue - 50 Color temperature - expert 1 Live color - medium Adv. color temperature - don’t mess with Clarity Tab Reality creation - auto Motion flow - custom - smoothness-4, clearness 2 CineMotion - High Video options tab 'HDR mode', HDMI video range', and 'Color space' are all best left to 'Auto

I bought this TV for $975. The picture quality is excellent. Love the ease of setting up. The interface is excellent and easy to navigate. I have 5.1 Surround sound Sony receiver coupled with tv. Excellent sound. Only negative thing, I wish it had less glare. Highly recommend VS high end / more expensive sets. OLED is fantastic- the price is not. SONY all the way !

Our First Sony in Decades and glad we did

Its been 1.5 years now since buying this TV and WOW, what a great experience! I have again become a believer in Sony products, many decades ago I had a not too pleasant experience with a rear projection Sony TV. Fast forward to todays Sony and wow! I/we feel Sony has "got it back" From the first day we had this TV we were blown away by the picture from all sources, Blu-ray, standard discs, regular streaming and 4K streaming. The picture and deep black levels almost gave the picture a 3d appearance. We just love it and that was great but the burning question was going to be how reliable was it going to be, something that made me nervous at this price point. We I can happily say, here we are 1.5 years later we have no had a bit of trouble with the TV and hopefully that will continue for a long time, if it does, without question another Sony will be in our future. No matter what the source is, the picture looks great, I suspect it upscales very good indeed. We honestly have no other wants from this TV. We do not use it with our wifi network as we plug all our wifi devices into the HDMI ports which include a blu ray player, Roku box, Channel master OTA recorded. Anyway, this TV so far is a class act and quite honestly makes a nice statement on our wall.

Purchased this Sony 65" X900F for $1600 at Christmas. After reading hundreds of user reviews on TV's, I decided on this. I was considering the Samsung Q8, but it was $700 more. Used the videos and settings at Rtings.com to study and play with the picture settings options. Without that it would have been more difficult to get to know the TV because of the many options for adjusting the picture display. The Hulu app in the TV didn't display the Live TV options and tool bar at the top like Hulu on the Roku Ultra box does. So I just use the Roku and disconnect the Ethernet cable from the tv and plug into the Roku. If viewing movies streaming from a computer or a Roku, you can go to settings on the TV and adjust picture settings and see how the changes affect the video in real time while the movie is still playing. However, if viewing a movie through a TV interface app, going to settings, disconnects from the video, so you won’t be able to see how the changes are affecting the video in real time. The only thing about the remote I don't like is that the shape of the corners at the bottom of the remote are sharp angular corners. It Pokes into the palm of your hand while holding it. So it’s annoying and not pleasing to hold. I like remotes that have curved corners or oval on the bottom. I like the TV and picture.

I'm happy with this purchase. I upgraded from a 50" plasma to this tv. I bought it with the soundbar and install. The soundbar is very nice and integrates well with the tv. I don't need 12 remotes to make it all work! The picture is excellent, I think it's the HDR, but it gives the picture some depth. It's easy to navigate. One small glitch, one time it hung up on Disney+, I think it's because my wifi was out of whack. I couldn't get it to reset. I called Best Buy, the support line was disappointing. She told me that the tv wasn't compatible with Disney+. I told her it was brand new! She said, well, unplug it. Bingo. I realized that the Sony doesn't turn off all the way, it goes to a sort of standby so it doesn't have to reboot every time you turn it on. I did some research, if you hold the power button down 5 seconds, it will reboot. Got it. That's the only issue, and I haven't had to do it since then. I like it.

This television is amazing. Love it and I almost didn't buy it because in none of the description it stated that it supported Dolby vision and it didn't even state the HDMI version it was using. I'm truly blown away by this TV. It took a while for me to figure out how to get my Xbox one x to see that the tv supported HDR 10 for gaming. Truly don't understand why Sony would not have the smart feature for HDMI on automatically. Great TV, the Blacks look Black and not some grey looking nonsense. The speakers are also top notch for this TV. I give a ton of thanks to the sales rep that pointed me to this TV and did her job at showing me the difference in picture quality compared to the original TV that I was going to purchase. Thank you. The geek squad that came out to mounted on my wall where awesome as well. This is why I love going to my jersey city Best buy store. Awesome team and awesome customer service. I will be going back for another TV for my living room very soon. Thank you for the amazing experience.

I bought this TV to replace a 60 inch Samsung and to be able to use Dolby surround with a sonos playbar and in-wall wired speakers (which requires a Dolby 5.1 output. The picture on this TV is amazing. Watched the NBA games and was amazed at how clear the colors and resolution is. I ran the old TV and new TV side by side for a few days to see how much of a difference there was and I have to say I am truly impressed. The TV speakers are not the best but since I am not using them it was not an issue. The new leg support system was nice, but in my case I could not use it as it raises your TV nearly 3.5 inches and I have a built-in space. I utilized a telescopic wall mount and had no issues with attaching the brackets to the TV. True Smart TV - I use a global remote and previously I've had to re-program it every time I get a new TV, but this Sony automatically detects the output being used and got my kids watching TV without much hassle. 4 HDMI outputs including ARC HDMI port (#3). I would recommend this TV to anyone that has specific audio needs and is looking for great video and functionality!

    Terrible Clouding

I exchanged my Samsung 65" TV for this as I heard this was the best rated TV for gaming. I paid $600 more for this set. I wanted to love it. However, there is one glaring issue which surprises me as this is a full array set; clouding. See my pictures attached to the review. This is improved in most cases with local dimming set to high, but is still noticeable with images on a black screen. The quality otherwise appears great with vibrant colors and crisp HDR content. I'm just let down by the lack of uniformity on darker screens.

I have been searching for some time for a new TV. Always hesitated to buy. Either the increased price, lack of 4K content etc. I waffled back and forth between Sony and Samsung, Qled or led, I decided not to do Oled because I like to game and didn’t want to have to worry about burn in issues. I bought this one because it was right price, good specs, and seemed to have pretty comparable picture quality. The higher Qled and Oled are going to be better, but they come at a much higher price. I’m not sure how much of that you might be able to tell once you get it home and calibrated. Great picture with games. Forza 4 and RDR2 look great (esp RDR2 compared to my older 1080p). Tv is good picture. Sound is ok from a TV, I have mine hooked to a surround system. Took a little time to figure out some of the setting/ menu controls (but I press first before I read the manual) able to figure out what I need. It is very bright.... a white background in a dark room can be a little rough if you have set to vivid.

Question... Ever go to a movie theater? the camera's they use are Sony, When movies are made, TV shows, filming of sporting events or the olympics they use Sony. Sony Pictures bring there experience and knowledge to there TV's and that's why they are the best in the industry. You won't find another company that does this so why purchase anything else. The Sony XBR-900F is simply the best tv you can purchase and at a excellent price point, Why pay hundred more for what the three other competitor is charging, Unless money is no object, save your money and go with a company who "Makes Movies" and has been a industry standard for decades... Go get a Sony!!!

Overall: Nice television and has been a pleasure to use. I've had it now for 1.5 months. Good: 1. Sharp picture 2. Full LED array with local dimming to increase contrast 3. HDR / Dolby Vision Support 4. Upscaling content looks very good 5. Android TV system with installed apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc...) easy to use and convenient. 6. I have the 65" model and brightness/color uniformity is very good. 7. Picture settings are customizable, although presets are very accurate. Bad: 1. Local dimming of LED produces some amount of "bloom" when you see bright text on dark backgrounds (overlays). This is especially noticeable when watching HDR content as the backlot is typically at peak brightness. 2. Television ARC output does not push Dolby Atmos out to audio system via HDMI. Needs to be updated to eARC standard. 3. I would appreciate a more robust frame. When moved you can feel the panel flex. Has not caused a problem, though.

Got this tv for 919 and supposedly it was an open box but looked brand new all wrapped up so I definitely don’t think it was an open box.. anyways, for 919 this was an absolute steal. I return my vizio p series quantum x and was afraid I would find anything better for the price. Boy I was wrong.. Once you tune your picture settings, this thing is super bright and vibrant. I was so disappointed with Dolby vision at first and was about to return it, however, I figured it out in the settings and now I’m super happy with everything about this tv!! Go get you one while you still can!!! Also, if you’re worried about this tv not getting any future updates, go get an Nvidia Shield streaming device and it will look indentical to the android interface that’s on the tv now except it will get updates for a long time.

Overall a very nice tv. Very happy with the picture quality and overall the tv. Only a few cons I wanted to point out. Controller - The biggest con. Nothing too bad, it's just too big, outdated, needs redesigned. This looks like a controller from 20 years ago, just needs updated and could lose a lot of the buttons. Also, VERY NOTICEABLE lag with the controller. I'll be honest, I've never noticed lag with a controller before but this one is obvious. Press ANY button and there is a wait before the tv responds. Shocking really. Sound - Seems to be on the low side. This replaced a LG TV and I notice the volume level on this TV must be set higher. Still no where near max volume, really still on the low side of the volume bar, just something I noticed. Lag - As I mentioned before, noticed this with the remote that comes with the TV. Have a (Nintendo) Switch hooked up to this TV, but it's mostly used by my young son. Any serious gaming, not sure I would be confident about the lag, but I can't speak to it. Android TV - The OS used on this TV. Nice if Android is your primary OS, but definitely not the most user-friendly. Hopefully it will get better through updates. Very happy with the product for the price. Nothing I listed as cons are deal breakers in my opinion. Would recommend. Would purchase again.

I have the X900E Series from the prior year, but that TV developed frozen pixels after 15 months. It was outside of the manufacturer warranty, but was covered by my credit card's extended warranty. I hope this TV is trouble free, as every Sony product I have purchased, from surround system to headphones, has always been free of issues. The X900F series is an excellent movie lovers TV. The blacks are black and the colors look natural while watching HD and UHD movies. The DirecTV image even improves when watching shows and sports. The Android smart home menu works well now that it was updated about 6 months ago. I'm happy that I purchased this TV during Black Friday and Best Buy price beat their own BF sale price when they had a 6 hour secret sale about 2 weeks before Christmas and dropped the BF sale price by another $100!
